    Weekend Release: Jordan’s Emergency Landing

    enJune 17, 2022

    Podcast Summary

    • Crocodiles can't extend their tongues and discusses health, wellness, and personal growthExplore flexible health insurance options, consider weight loss plans, prioritize self-care, and embrace partnerships for personal growth.

A crocodile cannot extend its tongue and UnitedHealthcare offers flexible, budget-friendly short-term health insurance plans underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company. Additionally, PlushCare provides online access to board-certified physicians who can prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications for those who qualify. The hosts discussed their upcoming BBC Three show, "Warrior," where young people with challenging backgrounds are partnered with fitness experts for personal growth and transformation. The hosts also shared some mishaps, including a new brace and a misunderstanding about the show's title. Despite some obstacles, they remained optimistic about the show's potential success. While on the topic of health, the hosts mentioned the importance of taking care of one's well-being, whether through insurance coverage, weight loss plans, or self-care. Overall, the podcast episode emphasized the importance of personal growth, health, and the power of partnerships in overcoming challenges.

    • Trusting the Professionals During an Emergency LandingStay calm during emergencies, trust the professionals, prepare for potential delays, and be patient and kind to staff.

Even during an unexpected and potentially alarming situation like an emergency landing, it's important to remain calm and trust the professionals handling it. The passenger in this story was initially frightened, but the crew's calm demeanor and reassurances helped alleviate his fears. The incident turned out to be a technical issue, not a fire or any other serious danger. However, the experience resulted in delays and missed connections. Air travelers should be prepared for potential delays and plan accordingly. Additionally, the passenger noted that the staff were working long hours due to understaffing, so it's essential to be patient and kind to them during such situations. Despite the inconvenience, the passenger learned that emergencies can be managed with the right attitude and trust in the experts. The idea of a sliding scale of offerings to passengers in emergencies, from water to more substantial provisions, was also intriguing. Overall, the experience reinforced the importance of staying calm and trusting the professionals during unexpected situations.

    • Pressure to be constantly available and responsiveSet expectations with holding replies or auto-responders, prioritize rest, and remember the importance of checking out of work.

In today's society, there's an increasing pressure to be constantly available and responsive to emails and other forms of communication. Michael shared his experience of feeling obligated to host a friend for dinner despite being busy, and how this relates to the pressure to always be in "go go go" mode. He also discussed the unnecessary pressure to reply quickly to emails, emphasizing that not everyone has the same working schedule or mental capacity to always be in work mode. Some people value rest and checking out of work after a certain time. Michael suggested sending holding replies or using an auto-responder to manage expectations and avoid passive-aggressive follow-ups. The conversation also touched on how this pressure to be constantly available is more prevalent now than in the past, with emails and other forms of communication accessible at all hours. The nineties and early 2000s were different, with people leaving the office at 5 and not worrying about emails until the next day. Now, with emails and other forms of communication accessible on our phones, it's easy to feel the need to check and respond to them at all hours. It's important to remember to prioritize rest and manage expectations when it comes to communication.

    • The Importance of Respecting Personal TimeThe French 'right to disconnect' law encourages employees to not reply to work emails outside of working hours. Emphasizes the importance of family time and relaxation, contrasted with more work-centric cultures. The sender should respect the recipient's time and personal life.

Respecting personal time and work-life balance is becoming increasingly important, and there are movements towards legislating this in some countries. The French "right to disconnect" law, for instance, allows employees not to reply to work emails outside of working hours without fear of reprisal. This concept, which emphasizes the importance of family time and relaxation, is contrasted with the more work-centric culture in places like Britain and America. However, it's important to note that this is not a universal truth, and there are variations even within countries. Ultimately, the onus is on the sender to respect the recipient's time and personal life, rather than expecting an immediate response.

    • The Overwhelming Impact of Constant CommunicationRespect others' time and boundaries, and prioritize meaningful communication to maintain productivity and focus.

Constant communication and pressure, even if well-intended, can be overwhelming and negatively impact productivity and focus. Ben expresses his frustration with the constant messages he receives, which he finds unnecessary and distracting. He shares an anecdote about a memory triggered by a message from Leah, reminiscing about a promotion at a radio station where they used to work. The conversation highlights the importance of respecting others' time and boundaries, and the value of meaningful communication. It's essential to strike a balance between staying connected and allowing space for focus and creativity.

    • Celebrities and COVID-19: Sharing Experiences and Importance of VaccinationWell-known personalities like James O'Brien have contracted COVID-19, emphasizing its ability to affect anyone. They shared their varying experiences and the importance of getting vaccinated.

Even well-known personalities like James O'Brien and his colleagues have contracted COVID-19, emphasizing that the virus can affect anyone, regardless of fame or age. During their conversation, they shared their experiences of dealing with the virus, which varied in severity. James O'Brien mentioned that he had it quite badly and had to miss some events due to his illness. They also discussed the importance of getting vaccinated, with James O'Brien jokingly mentioning that he had to endure being interrogated on live TV about getting his jabs. The conversation also touched on the importance of remembering people's names, with James O'Brien sharing a story about how he impressed some colleagues by remembering their names. Despite the serious topic, the conversation was filled with light-hearted moments and a sense of camaraderie among the group.

    • Comparing Vacuum Brands: Miele vs. DysonArden shares her preference for Miele vacuums over Dyson, despite owning a Shark, and discusses the Germans' vacuuming skills in a lighthearted conversation.

The listener, Arden Edelands, shared her agreement with William about Miele being a superior vacuum brand compared to Dyson, which she finds overrated and too expensive. She also mentioned her love for her Shark vacuum, despite it being American-made, and apologized for any potential grammar mistakes due to consuming gin while writing her message. The conversation touched on various topics, including the Germans' vacuuming skills and a joke about trimming pubes. The podcast aims to provide a platform for listeners to share stories, not just dilemmas or problems, and encourages them to reach out via social media or email. Additionally, a promotion for "lads on tour" in Birmingham, Salford, Manchester, and Edinburgh, as well as a shout-out to 1800flowers.com for gift-giving and PlushCare for weight loss, were included in the episode.

    • Explore Prioritizing Health and Wellness with Online Consultations, Smart Beds, and Affordable InsuranceExplore health and wellness options with online doctor consultations for weight loss treatments, personalized sleep solutions via smart beds, and budget-friendly health insurance plans

There are several options available to prioritize health and wellness, including access to online medical consultations for weight loss treatments and personalized sleep solutions. PlushCare offers online appointments with board-certified physicians who can prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications like Wegovy and Zepbound. Quality sleep is crucial, and Sleep Number smart beds provide individualized comfort to ensure optimal sleep for couples. JD Power ranks Sleep Number as the number one customer satisfaction leader in mattresses, and they currently offer a 40% discount on their limited edition smart bed. In life, we can become too regimented in our mind, body, and spirit. As we conform to what we know, the voice of the heart is lost.

In fact, we don't even know the heart has a voice because we bury our feelings, our emotions, and our dreams in order to survive the daily routines and responsibilities we call life.

The K.I.S.S. ~ REVIVE the Heart!

Write what your heart is speaking.

    1. Go to a place of quiet, of solitude.
    2. Take a pen and paper, nothing else. A water bottle is ok.
    3. Breathe deeply to quiet your mind, body and spirit.
    4. Write the voice of your heart. The thoughts that come to you. Don't censor what you write. No edits allowed. No re-reads. No re-writes. No re-dos.

Do this 1-2x weekly for about 2-5 minutes. You can go longer as you feel more comfortable.
