Many 401ks are lacking when it comes to investment selection, not everyone is offered a 401k and those that are aren't always offered a match, so these are just a few reasons why one might choose to set up an IRA. In this episode, I discuss the differences between an IRA and a 401k, the two primary types of IRAs, the differences between them, the tax rules associated with them and how they can be a beneficial investment strategy.     Series I bonds are largely unknown and unheard of, yet are one of the safest investments one can make with returns that are adjusted semiannually to factor in changes to inflation. These are backed by the full faith and credit of the US government, making them essentially risk-free. Series I bonds offer a safe haven for some of your dollars and can allow you to maintain your purchasing power, if not increase it, as Series I bonds are likely to offer returns that far exceed that of any savings or checking accounts. Currently, new Series I bonds pay a composite rate of 3.54%.
