"I Hung Up On Aaron Pritchett" with Zach McPhee

"I Hung Up On Aaron Pritchett" with Zach McPhee

Zach McPhee grew up in Kelowna, British Columbia with his eyes set on a career in hockey. He grew up in a musically inclined family, with both parents and his brother playing guitar, piano and singing. This was easily passed along to Zach.

He first started singing as therapy for a speech impediment. Teammates from his hockey team happened to notice he was pretty good, created a YouTube account and started posting videos of him singing.

After years of writing, posting cover songs, and connecting with some folks in the local music community, Zach started working on music that would become his debut EP, Bring On, which he released in 2023.

Zach was featured on our annual Artists To Watch in 2023, alongside talented emerging Canadian artists.

“Well, are you going to quit?” With Meghan Patrick

Meghan Patrick is an 18x CMA Ontario winner and back-to-back CCMA Female Artist Of The Year. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut and released her latest EP Greatest Show On Dirt in 2023. Her latest single “The Other Side of 25” was just released this past Friday.

We sat down with Meghan for a vulnerable conversation about her time cutting it in the music industry. From playing in a funk band to playing cover songs in bars, to landing her debut at the Grand Ole Opry, Meghan has made a career of hard work and determination.

We talked about “The Other Side Of 25” and what that truly means to her. From difficult life lessons, to being a survivor of domestic abuse, working multiple jobs to live her dream, and all of the life experiences that have gotten her to where she is today.

She also shared her dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence and her first philanthropy initiative she hosted in Nashville in partnership with the local YWCA.

What better way to kick off season three and the new year with independent platinum-selling artist, Dan Davidson!

Dan spent some time in Australia last year, and that got us talking about the support Canadian country music receives from our friends down under. With more traveling South on the way for Dan, he’s excited to be sharing his music with the Australian audience.

Dan learned a lot from his years on the road as the frontman for Canadian indie rock band Tupelo Honey.

Overcoming Shyness, Default, And His Fourth Album with Dallas Smith

Overcoming Shyness, Default, And His Fourth Album with Dallas Smith

Somehow we blinked and we’re at the season finale for Season 2 of On The Porch with Front Porch Music.

We’re so excited to have multi-CCMA award winning country artist Dallas Smith.

Dallas dove into music after overcoming his fear of singing in front of people. Within a year, he went from jamming in the garage with his band (Default) to having a record deal and hitting the road as a frontman.

Dallas grew up with two very musical parents, recalling his house filled with Reba, k.d. Lang, Martina McBryde, The Judds, Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, and Vince Gill. While he was into the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, he credits his mom’s favourite music even in influencing Default’s music.

Dallas shared a lot about his journey and relationship with the music business, getting involved through management and Local Hay Records, and investing time in mentoring emerging artists.

Dallas shared the “country record?” text that set off his solo career, and the organic experience of finding his way into Canadian country music.

We also dive into his self-titled fourth studio album, Dallas Smith.

Follow Dallas Smith on Instagram, Facebook, and X.
