Hey Oddballs! It's an exciting week here because I am kicking off a new series: Giving Birth Around the World. This series will put a spotlight on what it is like to give birth across the globe. Each week, I will hightlight a different country and showcase the good, the bad, and the ugly. Inspiration for this series came from "A Baby Story" and Every Mother Counts. 

To kick off the series, we are starting in Tanzania! Tanzania holds a special place in my heart because I was fortunate enough to spend a month there 5 (or so) summers back. Tanzania is geographical diverse and is home to the Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and a beautiful coast. Tanzania also has a diverse cultural. In my experience, there are 2 main groups- the Maasai and the non- Maasai. The Maasai is a traditional African tribe which is native to Tanzania. These folks live a very traditional, rural lifestyle which has no influence from our modern culture. Therefore, their birthing environment reflects the same. Due to this, the Maasai have some of the highest maternal mortality rates and low birth rates. Tanzania, with the help of western influence, is working to integrate more modern practices with the Maasai tribe to reduce the maternal deaths and increase birth rates. I dive into this in more detail in the episode.

Hey there, Oddballs! Welcome to this week's episode on touchless spas. Let me say, I was blown away when I came across this topic because it seems very counterintuitive- a spa without touch- how?! I couldn't stop thinking about this, so knew I had to dive in and share this with the listeners. Contactless or touchless spas are basically any machine or equipment that provides a spa service. Think cryotherapy, cold plunge, red light therapy, or sensory deprivation pods. After reading more on these- I think these are a must try!

The Barbie bug has bitten me! I (like many others) am being flooded with all things Barbie and I am here for it. But, don't worry, you don't have to see the movie to listen to this week's episode. 

This week on Oddrey's World it is all about getting into Barbie or main character energy. It's all about allowing yourself to have fun, be a beginner, and try something new! I feel like when we were little, Barbie's were a way to explore different jobs, social structures, family dynamics and everything in between; but we sometimes miss this as an adult. So, I encourage you to allow yourself to try on these different hats through hobbies, reading books, or taking classes because it doesn't have to be a  life altering change to test out the waters of these different lifestyles. Yes, it may be a little scarier as an adult to try new things because you can't hide behind a doll, but in the adult version, it is actually you exploring the things you want to explore- what a gift!
