In a very unique episode, I review my own beer! The first (and hopefully not last) commercially produced beer I have brewed is Cheers So Brew Co Make It A Double, a Double IPA coming in at 8% and brewed at The 5 Lamps Brewery in the Liberties. I had great craic scaling up my 1 gallon recipe to 700L and brewing for the first time on a large kit. It poured first at Alltech Beer Fest and now is on tap in a few pubs in the city!

For my latest trick… I compare the Galway Bay Two Hundred Fathoms of 2015 to the new 2016 release! This lovely barrel aged imperial stout is released only once a year, so if you can get your hands on a bottle or two give it a go!

Back at you with another beer review! This time featuring Black Donkey’s Arigna #1 from their special limited release series. Got lucky to get my hands on a bottle when I saw Richard at the Alltech Beer Fair.

In this brew review, I try out the special edition Barrel Aged Black Boar from The White Hag Brewery. I got lucky to get one of the last bottles in Redmonds of Ranelagh! I am a huge fan of barrel aged beers (if it wasn’t obvious by now) and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try this beast.

The final beer of 12 Beers of Christmas is Mikkeller Black, a very complex imperial stout coming in at 16.7%! A great way to kick-off the new year with a bang!

The 11th beer for 12 Beers of Christmas is BrewDog Hinterland, a oatmeal milk imperial stout which is a tribute to the Jackalope and comes in at 9%! I heard good things about this stout and had wanted to try it, so added it to my list.

Beer #10 of 12 Beers of Christmas is Buxton Brewery & Omnipollo Yellow Belly Sundae which is the bourbon barrel aged version of Yellow Belly! It is a beautifully complex beer that enjoyed its time spent in the barrel.

It's time for beer #9 of 12 Beers of Christmas! I have chosen BrewDog Black Eyed King Imp, a ridiculously strong barrel aged imperial stout in a can. It is a luxurious beer which is also quite portable!

Beer #8 is Founders KBS straight from my birthplace and right to my beer glass! KBS is a delectable barrel aged imperial stout that we luckily got in Ireland last year.

So for my 7th "beer" I chose Stonewell Tawny which is a 15% dry hopped cider! I have loved this cider from the first time I had it 2 years ago, so the choice was easy... it is one hell of a cider and definitely a cider to be enjoyed around the holidays!

My love of imperial stouts, especially barrel aged ones, knows no bounds! That is why my 5th beer of my 12 Beers of Christmas is BrewDog Dog D a whopper of a imperial stout at 16.1% which makes it perfect for Christmas Eve.

For beer #4 I have chosen MashTag 2015 from BrewDog as I had not yet tried it yet, but helped vote in the polls to choose the beer! It is a black barely wine brewed with vanilla bean and oak chips coming in at 10%. I wanted to include a barley wine in my 12 Beers of Christmas as I love them and they are perfect for the Christmas season!

Beer #3 is one of my favourite imperial stouts done in collaboration between Buxton Brewery and Omnipollo, Yellow Belly is a heavenly beer that is hard to put down! It was a no brainer putting this beer on my 12 beers of Christmas list. I just wish I had better access to it, so I could drink it more often.

Beer #2 is the notorious Two Hundred Fathoms... probably my favourite Irish beer, I wait impatiently each year for it's release! It had to make my 12 beers of Christmas list. It is no secret I love barrel aged beers and I love imperial stouts, this beer was made for me (obviously). I cannot wait for or fathom (hahaha) the next edition of this beer!
