    A Millennial Mess

Introducing you to your new favorite obsession, “A Millennial Mess” podcast, hosted weekly by your go-to relatable twenty and thirty somethings, Jade and Deniece. The two hosts first met while playing music together way back in the day.. Yes I’m talking when taking neoprints was still a thing, and the pair to this day still teach music and dance regularly. They were bonded by their similar life experiences and decided to create the podcast when discovering they both had unique perspectives to share on a multitude of intriguing topics. Each week the girls introduce listeners to their daily dose of fun involving girl chat, hot topics, and uncovering the mess that truly is living in today’s society as a millennial. Some listeners have called it “a wrecking ball of a good time.”

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

If you had 2 days to do anything you want, what would it be? In this episode we have Xaveir (yes it is spelled this way, listen to the episode to find out!) who we met on the Bloomr MCN Accelerator program shared with us how he would want to really take the time to throw his phone away and do some artsy stuff that he loves! This episode idea came from Deniece when she fell sick from her busy schedule and finally had the time to rest and recuperate and have some time for herself. What would you do if you had 2 days off? We would love to hear from you!

EP 37: The Dating Apps Medley (with Klinsen Soh)

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

Ms Koh Boon Ki, 22, who has more than 112,000 followers on TikTok, made a post bout creating a Telegram group for “girls from all the dating apps in Singapore” to “discuss the guys we’ve talked to and dates we’ve been on” and it turned out “way worse” than she imagined.

More and More, millennials are finding it harder to meet someone organically and are now turning to dating apps such as Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble and others, to find their life partners. We speak to Klinsen and Jade this week about their experiences on the apps and this sub culture in the world of dating. Jade feels that her experience on the app has made her improve in her conversation skills with guys whilst Klinsen finds that time is better spent on investing in oneself, instead of being too absorbed in the app. What about your experience? Has there been any success in finding your partners through this means? We would love to hear from you!

    EP 34: Facing your fears

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

Did you know that you can train your brain to overcome your fears? The majority of people will run away from their fears and avoid them and that tells your brain to fear the 'thing' or experience even more. But if you take baby steps to confront your fears, for example, if you were afraid of flying, perhaps watching the planes during take off and landing would be the first step. Gradually building up to sitting in the plane but not flying, and eventually working your way to taking flight. This teaches your brain that the 'thing' is no longer fearful. Join us as we explore our brain's fear center and discuss practical ways to overcome our fears! What are you afraid of? DM us to share!

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

TW: Please skip this episode if you are not comfortable with the topic of abuse

Zionette Esther's story of abuse is an important one to tell. She shares about how she first met her ex-husband, how they fell in love and out of it. It all started when her honeymoon turned into a "horror-moon" and due to a series of events, the verbal outbursts gradually led to physical violence. Over time, she learnt to open up to her family and friends about her situation and with their help, managed to escape her narcissistic ex-husband, leaving him for good. We hope that Zionette's story can help those who are facing similar situations to have the courage to do what is right by them.

Let’s give a round of applause to the trivia drama queens from the WhyWhyWhy Show! From almost drowning (thank God it didn’t happen!) to battling insecurities, career choirs and family issues, these are all growing pains that had to happen. Yet, it is in these waves of uncertainty that we become wiser and stronger. What about you? What have you gone through and what lessons have you learnt whilst on this earth? To all the children who are celebrating children’s day, cherish your childhood and youth and be present with yourself in the ‘now’! Let tomorrow worry about itself!

EP 30: We speak to Minister of Education, Klinsen Soh about the Yale-NUS saga

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

Host of ‘But Then How’ Podcast, Klinsen Soh joins us in this exciting discussion about the Yale-NUS controversy. Going through the Singapore education System during our generation didn’t challenge us to be smarter, but trained us to be submissive. We did what we were told and there wasn’t a culture of speaking up or challenging the status quo. I guess that’s why Asians earned the global reputation of being silent whenever it came to Q&A sessions. In this episode, we tackle questions such as, “What is liberal arts?” “Is education still relevant today?” and “does it prepare us for the workforce?” If you grew up in this system too, we would love to hear your thoughts on how it has affected or impacted your life in a positive or negative way! Tune in for a ‘talk cocking’ good time because… we really did talk… a lot… of… c***.

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

This week, we dive deeper into the topic of suicide prevention. Straits Times reported a 13% increase in the number of suicides from 2019 to 2020 We explore the causes that lead people to commit the deed and how we can stay mentally strong in this pandemic. Most importantly, remember that there is a way out and there is always someone you can turn to. SOS has shortened their hotline to 1767 so that it’s easier to remember. We tried calling them to see if the hotline worked and we thank Ms Shannon for being so kind to take our call.

EP 27: You won't fail if you don't give up (with Nelson Tan)

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

We have Nelson Tan on the hot seat with us this week sharing with us the importance of having a strong mindset in life. No matter what stage of life you're at, life will get the better of us and gravity will pull us down. We become what our minds believe we are and a negative mindset will keep us down. Now, the opposite is true. If you believe in yourself, surround yourself with people who you aspire to be or can influence your mindset positively, the low moments in life become a lot easier. You can't fail if you don't give up. You can turn the ship around even though it is headed toward the storm. Listen to this episode as we discuss positive mindsets that keep us afloat in trying times.

EP 23: Turning over a new leaf with David King Raj

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to this week’s episode of A Millennial Mess podcast hosted by your new besties, Jade and Deniece.

This week, we interviewed David King Raj, an ex-convict turned youth worker, about how he overcame adversity in life. We all face trials and difficulties but few of us tackle them head on and sort out the messiness inside of us. David is a person who is committed to self development and devotes his life to help youths around him find themselves too. Listen on to David’s take on life and be inspired!
