Manuela Sáenz | The Liberator of Liberators

Manuela Sáenz | The Liberator of Liberators

Today we're talking about Manuela Sáenz, a political activist who helped to lead Simón Bolivar's vision of a Gran Columbia. She was notable for stopping multiple assassination attempts against him, becoming a spymaster of information, and also carrying a mustache around of her dead enemy?

    Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Alright everyone, we're talking about Gypsy Rose Blanchard today. I know, she's been dominating news cycles since she was released, but I couldn't not talk about her! Also I'm sorry about the terrible audio quality in the beginning, literally took me forever to get it to be semi-worth listening. If it's too much skip to like around 3 mins and it should get better from there!

Let me know what you think of this episode! You can find me at frumiousreads on twitter, tumblr, facebook, instagram, basically any and all social media!

Chandler House of Horrors: April McLaughlin Animal Hoarding

Chandler House of Horrors: April McLaughlin Animal Hoarding

This past Friday was also National Haunted House day, which worked out perfectly as it also inspired our latest episode. Now, this is one that is actually local to where I am in Arizona, and I heard about it from a friend and knew immediately that this is something I needed to talk about. So, guys, gals, and nonbinary pals, let’s talk about the Chandler, AZ House of Horrors, aka April McLaughlin

LIVE from Scaredycon! Women in Horror and the Real Life Stories Behind Them!

    The first! Ever! Live! Episode!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made Scaredycon so much fun to be at, a million thanks to Taproom-120 for hosting, ScaredyCast and everyone else for putting this together. I had a great time being part of it and 100000% can't wait for the next one.

In this episode we talk about women from horror movies who's stories were inspired by real life events. First off is the movie The Orphan, and her real life counterpart Barbara Skrlova  (have you guys heard about this one? A lot of people know it’s based on a real story but don’t know the story itself so I thought this would be an interesting one to do.)

Then, leaning into the more spooky things, we’ve got Veronica a 2017 supernatural horror film loosely based on the 1991 Vallecas case when Estafania Gutierrez Lazaro mysteriously died after using a ouija board.

    Let's get spooky.

The Phantom of Heilbronn and Margaret Sweeney

The Phantom of Heilbronn and Margaret Sweeney

Hello and welcome to A Murderess Affair, the podcast about women in history known for mayhem and murder. This week, we’re talking about a woman who recently made the news and then also a woman who caused a lot of mystery and chaos to many investigators-The Phantom of Heilbronn. There’s actually a little bit of a theme, without giving too much away.

Hitman for Hire: Jazmin Paez and Wendy Lynn Wein

Hitman for Hire: Jazmin Paez and Wendy Lynn Wein

Today we’re talking about not one, but two different women. Yes, it is a double episode today, of sorts. And the reason is because I went down a rabbit hole, as I tend to do, and I was originally going to just talk about one woman this happened to, but apparently it has happened to at least two within the past year.

Now, there’s a website, which I’m not going to name directly but I promise it exists, that falsely advertises hitmen for hire. Something that started as a joke according to the “About” section, and yet has now been used multiple times to find people who actually want to hire someone to murder others. The website reports these claims to police, and it leads to them catching the would-be murderer. It’s all very Tiger King of them.

    Tilly Devine: ‘Queen of Woolloomooloo’

    Tilly Devine: ‘Queen of Woolloomooloo’

Hello and welcome to A Murderess Affair, my name is Gabrielle and this is the podcast where we talk about women in history known for mayhem and murder. We’re continuing a theme of sorts, by talking about a woman who was mentioned last week as the arch-enemy of Kate Leigh. Any guesses?

Tilly Devine, that’s who. Born Matilda Mary Twiss in September 1900, she was involved in a wide range of criminal activities. Sly grog, razor gangs, and prostitution just to name a few.

Kate Leigh: Australia's "Queen of the Underworld"

Kate Leigh: Australia's "Queen of the Underworld"

Hello everyone! Welcome back to A Murderess Affair. It's been a while friends but I am SO EXCITED to be back and making episodes again. This week we're talking about Kate Leigh, Australia's Queen of the Underworld, and her rise to power. She also had a vicious and bloody history in Australia's Razor Gang War against fellow Australian kingpin Tillie Devine, and that's something that we're actually going to cover in next week's episode! If you're interested, make sure you follow the podcast wherever you listen to podcasts, and can't wait to hear what you think of this week's episode.

Onake Obavva AND Kaitlin Armstrong Updates

Onake Obavva AND Kaitlin Armstrong Updates

This week we're talking about "Onake" Obavva, a South Indian woman who took on an army by herself in the late 1700s, smashing men over the head with a club as they tried to sneak one by one into her town. This is a story you won't want to miss.

Let's also talk about the Kaitlin Armstrong updates! Finally caught after 43 days on the run, here's what we know so far.

Annie Dookhan | The Corrupt Chemist

Annie Dookhan | The Corrupt Chemist

Annie Dookhan is a convicted felon who pled guilty to falsifying evidence that affected up to 34,000 cases in the state of Massachusetts. She worked as a chemist for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Drug Abuse Laboratory.

She was recently the subject of a Netflix series How to Fix a Drug Scandal and I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already

The Janes Collective | How Women of the 1960's-70's fought anti-abortion laws.

The Janes Collective | How Women of the 1960's-70's fought anti-abortion laws.

In the wake of the Roe v Wade decision, it is easy to feel hopeless, and angry. I wanted to make an episode that talked about the women who came before us, and how they fought against a system that was determined to deny them their basic human rights and access to healthcare.

Today we're going to talk about the Jane Collective, the women who came before us who helped women in need obtain abortion and healthcare at a time where they could be tried for felony murder.

About the recent Supreme Court decision, founder Heather Booth said,  "It's certainly against the promise of this country and against freedoms that we've worked so hard for. but we can make a difference and we can make a future...we need to turn our anger into action. because it's when we stay hopeless and helpless that we become victims. We are not victims, we are the hero of our story."

    Currently Wanted | Kaitlin Armstrong

    Currently Wanted | Kaitlin Armstrong

This week we're talking about current fugitive Kaitlin Armstrong, wanted in connection to the murder of Moriah "Mo" Wilson. Armstrong was last on surveillance footage at the Newark International Airport. US Marshals are currently offering $5,000 for any information in connection to her arrest.

This week I also had the pleasure of talking to @FanbaseWeekly and @refallisonleigh to discuss the latest in  #geek news! This was so much fun to do and an absolute blast to be on! Check out the full episode here: https://tinyurl.com/fanbaseweekly

Elena Skordelli | The Media Murder

Elena Skordelli | The Media Murder

Today we’re taking a little trip to the Republic of Cyprus, an island nation south of Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea, in order to talk about Elena Skordelli. She was a television presenter who in 2010 was accused alongside her brother and another accomplice for murdering the CEO of Sigma TV, a company that Elena had recently been fired from.

Stephanie St. Clair | Queen of Harlem

Stephanie St. Clair | Queen of Harlem
Hello and welcome to A Murderess Affair. It’s black history month and to celebrate we’re talking about Stephanie St. Clair, who battled hardcore mobsters, police-both corrupt and not, and other gangsters who tried to take over the piece of New York she’d carved out for herself and taken control of. She’s probably one of the most badass women in history and I’ve been really looking forward to covering her story.

    Fredegund| The Assassin Queen

    Fredegund| The Assassin Queen
Today we’re talking about Fredegund the Assassin Queen-probably one of the most hysterically evil people I’ve had the fortune of reading about. In a nutshell, Fredegund was the epitome of every evil mistress or wife. A consort who gained the affection of a king, she either killed or hired someone to kill any who may get in the way of her and later, her son's reign.
