In this segment, we commemorate the victims of the Sharpeville massacre of 21 March 1960 in the South African township of Sharpeville after a day of demonstrations, killing 69 people. We also remember the victims of 2012 Marikana massacre in which 47 people were killed by South Africa's police force. The Sharpeville massacre led to the banning of the PAC and ANC, and was the catalysts for a shift from passive resistance to armed resistance by both organizations. The founding of Poqo, the military wing of the PAC, and Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the ANC. We discuss the parallels of these two events as emerging reports suggests that South Africa getting ready to invade Central African Republic. How far the the ANC leaders come and hows has a revolutionary party turned so quickly into a reactionary organization and a potential threat the continent. The Battle of Adwa (also known as Adowa, or sometimes by the Italian name Adua) was fought on 1 March 1896 between the Ethiopian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy near the town of Adwa, Ethiopia, in the Tigray region. It was the climactic battle of the First Italo-Ethiopian War, securing Ethiopian sovereignty. This defeat of a colonial power and the ensuing recognition of African sovereignty became rallying points for later African nationalists during their struggle for decolonization, as well as activists and leaders of the Pan-African movement.
