View from the 8th : Where would you invest £2.5m today? Q&A with George Walker

A new series of podcast episodes direct from our office in Leeds, where our hosts Jack Robson and Ceara Duggan of Allsop give their view from the 8th (floor).  They put Allsop Auctioneer George Walker under the microscope to examine his many years of experience on the rostrum. We delve into his views on how markets have evolved, buyer and vendor appetite, the strangest (and biggest) lot he has ever auctioned. And, if given £2.5m to invest, what he would do?

Both Jack and Ceara are part of Allsop’s regional team that focus on commercial and residential agency, valuation and property management in the northern regions. In our “View from the 8th” episodes they and their guests discuss topics and insight that focus on areas of the market, in which they work in. What better place to start than chatting with regular host and Allsop Auctioneer George Walker.

In this short podcast they discuss:

    • The effects of easing of Permitted Development Rights (PDR) in creating more housing stock from converted commercial properties where there has been historic supply constraints.
    • The surge in sales of vacant department store units on the high streets and what this means for reimagining retail
    • Landbanking of commercial assets by residential developers for income and future residential development.
