    Captain’s Log!

    Captain’s Log!
This is a vast a podcast about pirates in which i Paul, your host is sitting outside of a travel trailer. Drinking a beer. Looking at his house that he cannot live in right now. And really, really wanting to talk to you about pirates. In a very entertaining way. That sounds good, but i cannot because Of hurricane Ian. Hi everybody. Um, So if you follow me on social media, you know, That my house got flooded. And hurricane ian. It only got six inches. But six inches is enough to do quite a bit of damage. And so we've had to Throw away all of our appliances most of our furniture, all of our flooring, A lot of our walls, our kitchen and two bathrooms are houses. Uninhabitable right now. And i am unable to bring you Podcast. Um, but i want to do that very, very soon. Just don't know when that's going to be. In the meantime. You're going to see some new artwork. By my good friend phil rude, who is a very talented artist and i hired him to make a new logo and to make new artwork. Uh, partly because i want to support a local artist, who is very, very talented, and a good friend. And honestly partly because i wanted like it's motivation for me to keep making the podcast like I just spent money on a new logo, so maybe i'll Want to keep doing the podcast in a way. It's been nice to not. To the podcast, like i've enjoyed. The break in a way. I've enjoyed the break, but i really also miss doing it. And i really want to get back to doing it. But under this present circumstances i cannot do it. I am Uh, outside of a travel trailer underneath a little tent. Drinking a beer right now. I had a moment to talk to you. I didn't know. Uh, if i was going to put anything on the feed, Or not. Um, You heard my good friend, melissa. She did a an episode for me. Um, it's fantastic. I have a couple more episodes coming out from people who have volunteered to step in and Uh, Make sure that there's new content. On my feed until i can. Get back to doing what i want to do, which is talking into a microphone about pirates. To all of you in a way, hopefully, that's entertaining and funny and educational, all the stuff that i enjoy about podcasting and that i enjoy doing about podcasting. Uh, i just can't do it right now. I'm looking at eight by 16. Storage unit. That has my microphone and my mixing board and all my stuff in it. And i can't use it right now for what i want to use it for and i don't want to like record all my podcasts through my phone, like i'm doing right now because Uh, Probably sounds like garbage, and you could probably hear the fireworks behind me because New Year's Eve, And, I don't want to do podcasts that sound like this. I don't wanna assault your ears. But, A lot of you gave to my Um, go fund me. Account that somebody had set up for me, and i really To appreciate that. Uh, we Truly need all the help we can get so that we can get back in our house. So, if you gave to that, thank you very much, i appreciate it. And if you gave me money on, Coffee co-fi, kofi.com slash vast. Appreciate that, too. We have, um, Our annual. Fees coming up monthly dues for the network. And, Fees that i have to pay for. Uh, pod beam to keep my account on pod beam. So all that stuff is due in january. So i really appreciate the help with that too. And um, Gosh, what else? I mean, i don't know what else to say, you know. Like, I've been through a hurricane before i've been through hurricane irma. And we had to evacuate and it wasn't that bad. We were worried about the house through hurricane Irma. And we, Are a little bit higher than the other houses on the street. Um, and a couple of those houses, got flooded after hurricane irma. But we were dry. So, we figured this time would be. Would be different. I mean, this we figured this type would be the same. I'm not going to edit any of this. I'm so sorry. Um, We figured this time would be the same and so we went to a friend's house to evacuate. Because when you're told to evacuate from her hurricane, you evacuate from her hurricane, you don't argue. So we evacuated and we figured we would be in the house. Spore. Um, you know Two or three days. And then we would come home. And there would probably be a little bit of a mess to clean up with Branches, and that kind of thing, but We would be home and it would be fine. And it was not fine, because Storm surge plus. Um, high tide. Um, made my whole street go about Three feet underwater. And even though the doors and the windows were closed about six inches of water, still gotten my home. And wrecked everything. So, here i am. Uh, three months later, three months later. Exactly, did you hear that? Firework that's going to be going on all night. And this is the first night i'm going to be spending in this travel trailer behind me. I have to laugh. I have to laugh about this because it's awesome. So, Uh, we're hoping to have Some work done in our house very very soon. So we can at least live inside of our house and not in a travel trailer. On the outside of our house. We're living in the front yard right now. Um, Once we get back in the house, Then we'll be able to then i'll be able to start knowing like when i'll be able to put a an episode of the podcast out because Um, We only we don't really need too much to live in the house. It's just But just not sure when that too much is going to get done. So, For the time being here, we are. And, Really don't know what else to say. Um, Dealing with fema, has not been easy. Dealing with our insurance has been easy. I mean, everybody complains about their insurance, Our insurance was terrific. They've been very easy to deal with. FEMA, on the other hand is a government agency. That is. Very, very Overwhelmed. And even if they weren't overwhelmed, it is a government agency. So, it's just a clogged toilet of red tape and paperwork and waiting for things to clear. And confusing forms. And Confusing websites. And, It's not fun. I don't remember. I don't recommend natural disasters to anybody. This is not great. Um, but it'll be better, like people. There are people that have it a lot worse than we do. Uh, for sure, we have a lot of help. And we are going to get the house back together, and i'm going to get all my microphone and all my stuff back in the room where i was recording. And i'm going to record again, and this podcast is going to keep going. It sucks because like it's going to be like It's really going to be like starting over again, because i'll have been gone for so long that Like, it's going to be like, i A brand new podcast like it was before, like, So, Um, if you liked the first couple of episodes, definitely tell people about the podcast. That would be great and i will be back. And, The first episode when i come back, we'll be about hurricanes because actually pretty interesting. Um, Hurricanes. Oh, i'll just i wait till the podcast to tell you about what an impact. Hurricanes had. On the golden age of piracy, it's really, really when you when you dig down into it. Uh, Super interesting. But don't read about it because One thing us podcasters count on And what we rely on is people who don't read because if you don't read, That sounds terrible. Don't read anything anybody. I will tell you what you need to know. Uh, don't read anything. Now you can read, go ahead and read. Uh, anything i, you know, talk about jesus. That was a big one. Do you hear that? Anyway go ahead and read up about it and then i will talk about it and then we can compare notes and then you can uh yell at me and tell me when you know what i'm wrong about. Because that's always fun. I like doing that. I'll take my flogging. And, Think that's it. I've rattled on for about 10 minutes. I've told you absolutely nothing. I've told you something. I've told you where i'm at. I've told you what i'm doing. I've sort of told you when i'm gonna make another podcast. Uh uh, that's the answer to that. And i'm gonna go finish some spear, it's been 10 minutes with me rattling on. And uh, that's it. So thanks for listening. I'll talk to you soon. Bye bye.

    Getting Overboard

    Getting Overboard

What can a failed professional wrestling gimmick teach us about how personal conflict was handled on the high seas among pirates? Not much probably but it's fun to talk about professional wrestling and pirates getting into fights so that's what we're going to do.

    Captain’s Log Audio Bed

This is the audio bed I made for the Captain's Log episodes. This audio track is 40 minutes long and full of all kinds of wonderful piratey sound effects and music. Perfect background music if your RPG needs a busy, slightly rowdy pirate tavern or if you just like having this sort of thing playing while you're working or exercising. Enjoy!
