Ep. 46: Saudade w/ Tyler Snider
We are back! After a long hiatus, the podcast is back!

Have you ever looked back on something fondly, and you have that overwhelming sense of loss or nostalgia because that person or place is absent? That is what we explore in this episode. My guest Tyler and I discussed some of our prior relationships and how things might have been different or even better. We also discuss dating in general and how things are a little rough out there.

Ep 45: Breathe In, Breathe Out w/ SLF

Ep 45: Breathe In, Breathe Out w/ SLF
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are three unalienable rights granted to us by the Declaration of Independence. However, as a nation, we have been missing the mark on liberty. This week's episode has my good friend Steven Fryson, and we discuss a myriad of topics such as abortion, police shootings, Jaylen Walker, adoption, foster care, and more. There has been an escalating level of frustration with the things we are witnessing, and we just wanted to have a vent session with one another. If you are on board with that or are feeling similar frustrations, have a listen. Send this over if you know someone else who might feel this way. Sometimes it's nice to hear other people may be sharing the same feelings you have.

Ep. 44: Seasons Change, You Should Too w/ Angel Aguilar
Why do we continue to change the standard of what is considered beautiful as a society? Why do we stay inside toxic friendships/relationships way longer than we need to? How many licks does it take until you get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? We attempt to answer these questions and more inside this week's episode of Barely Qualified!

Ep 43: Patience Is A Virtue w/ Jay and Jacob
It's another episode of the BQ podcast! In this one, we catch up with Jay and Jacob! It has been over a year and a half since I have spoken to Jay so definitely wanted to spend some time with him to see how he has been coping throughout lockdown and the pandemic we have all been experiencing. This wasn't as much of a perpetual lightning round as we have had previously, just a couple of guys talking through our previous past few months.

Ep 42: Vaccines: "F*** Around and Find Out" w/ Kipp and Steven
It has been a long time. We know. We know. I know you might have questions like where have you been for the past few months, and why have you just now decided to put out a new episode. One, watch your tone, and two it's because it's something serious that I feel that we need to discuss. Vaccine hesitancy has been at an all-time high with covid vaccines that were released earlier in the year. Kipp, Steven, and I take this time to discuss our frustrations with individuals who refuse to get the shot.

Ep 41: "What is Grief, If Not Love Persevering?" w/ Trenden Padgett

Ep 41: "What is Grief, If Not Love Persevering?" w/ Trenden Padgett
What is grief if not love persevering? A character from a top-rated series that just aired on Disney Plus uttered these words, but no matter who uttered the phrase, these words have continued to stick with me. We all know there is a certain inevitability to this life that we live. Even knowing that this existence will end, we go on day by day pretending that it won't. Our jobs, friends, and even family can be taken for granted. That is why when something like the loss of a parent happens, it suddenly puts life into ultra focus. Trenden Padgett was on this week's episode, and we discussed this very subject, what it was like to lose a parent. We spoke candidly about our experiences with losing someone responsible for our entire existence on this planet. The heartache, the inconsolable moments, all of that, and more is what is in store for you throughout the next hour and forty-eight minutes. A huge thank you again to Trenden for surprising me with this topic, but I am forever grateful to share this conversation with him.

Ep 40: The Melody of the Backwoods w/ Scott Warner
This week's episode involves following your passion, facing your fears, non-sponsored gore-induced violence, and two men talking about their beliefs! Scott Warner was on this week's show and shed some light on why he got into acting, why in the era of covid people are still idiots, and shared some awesome information about his weekly podcast (Old Ass Movie Reviews). Scott is a man of many talents as he has written, directed, acted, and produced multiple film projects. In that same vein, we spoke about his work in two recent horror movies and some other projects that he has been working on going into 2021. It was a pleasure to have him on Barely Qualified, and it won't be the last time you hear Scott Warner on BQ!

Ep 39: Validate Me! w/ Alyssa Harmadi & Kayla Herring
This week's episode was a lot of fun. Alyssa Harmadi and Kayla Herring stopped by and we had a few drinks and a lot of laughs. The discussion ranged from mental health in the era of covid 19. How we all basically lost an entire year of our lives due to this pandemic. A lot of the discussion hemmed on us speaking candidly about our childhoods, and how things that happened in our childhoods can shape who we are today in society. This is the first part of a multiple-part series so be sure to follow/subscribe to the show so you can hear the next episodes as they are released!

Ep 38.5: "Just Eat It." w/Alysha Johnson
Here is a bonus bit from the previous conversation that I had with Alysha Johnson! Most of it stems from us talking about eating ass. Yes. You read that correctly. Most of this conversation involves food and eating ass. How we made it to this point... I have no idea. Alas, here we are! Enjoy!

Ep 38: "My Anxiety Has Anxiety" w/ Alysha Johnson
Sometimes the stars align, and you finally make a thing happened that you have been waiting to happen for a very long time. Alysha Johnson was on the show this week, and I had an excellent time recording the show with her. We touched on topics from loss of loved ones, covid lockdowns, children growing up in isolation, and overall contentedness in life. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but so much was discussed, it wouldn't fit inside of this description! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed providing it for you. If you do enjoy this week's podcast offering, check-in later on this week for a bonus episode where Alysha and I go off the deep end for an additional thirty minutes! It is definitely worth a subscription and or a follow! Check it out!

Ep 37: Two Old Souls Walk Into A Bar w/ Micah McDonald
You ever have a conversation with someone, and after the conversation has come to a close, you think back to yourself thinking, "Damn, I wish I would have recorded that conversation." This was one of those moments that I had that thought and pre-emptively hit the record button. Please don't come at me for not asking the individual if it was cool to record. We spoke after it was done, and I was given full permission to post to the episode. Yell at someone else! This week, my cousin Mike and I discussed spirituality and how it relates to your personal journey through life. Religion may or may not play a role in your overall way of thinking in life. We also touch on my journey to a protest that I attended that involved our local abortion clinic. Be warned if this is not a topic you would like to hear about; it is inside this week's episode. Lastly, we round out of the end of the show, speaking about religion as a whole and how the bible came to be. I hope you enjoy this week's episode, and we will see you next week. Remember, life is good and generous.

Ep 36: It's Been Way Too Long w/ Jamie Ilano and Nichole Marie
Do you think if your significant other is watching porn and masturbating (without you) that it is considered cheating? Do you feel as though the people around you aren't taking the pandemic seriously enough? Have you mysteriously noticed your conditioner missing in your bathroom, but your shampoo remains untouched? No? Fascinating! My guest Nichole Clarke and Jamie Ilano gave their opinions on these topics and a lot more. We even touched on podcast favorite topics of politics and religion! Check it out!

Ep. 35: Life Is Good And Generous w/ Charles McCaskill and Kipp Jennings
Sometimes you just need to have a vent session with some friends. In this week's episode, I speak with Charles McCaskill and Kipp Jennings about their 2020 years. How they have coped with the pandemic. Charles shares fascinating insight into what it was like to be on the front lines in a grocery store watching people lose their minds over toilet paper. Kipp speaks on how much insight he gained during this time in quarantine and limited social interaction. There was also a touch of politics involved as per usual with the show and their opinions on how our elected leaders provide us with every little transparency in their day-to-day. Except for AOC. AOC is awesome. All of that and more is inside of this week's episode!

Ep 34: Stop It. Get Some Help! w/ Alyssa Harmadi and Dalton Wright

Ep 34: Stop It. Get Some Help! w/ Alyssa Harmadi and Dalton Wright
If there is anything that I know for a fact is that the news cycle over the past few weeks has been nothing but insanity. So in an attempt to detox myself from all things newsworthy I phoned up Alyssa Harmadi and Dalton Wright to spend some time away from the nonsense that is our day-to-day news cycle. We discussed our favorite music artsists that we are currently listening to, whether or not Dalton is over the age of 35, and why Alyssa will always be wrong when it comes to not being a fan of Hamilton. We also got into the overall meaning of life and is there an overall purpose to any of this? If we do have a purpose in this life, then what is it? How do we find it? Is it something we are born with? Does it come in a vision or a nightmare that we have to interpret for ourselves? Who knows?! We certainly don't. But that doesn't stop us from trying to figure it!

    Ep 33: Election Reflection

    Ep 33: Election Reflection
Inside of this week's episode, I speak with my friends Jacob Pierce and Steven Fryson about the recent presidential election. We discuss how insane the past week has been on the lead up to election day, how there has been so much inflammatory rhetoric being used to place doubt in the results of the election, and how covid has still upended our normal lives and has cast more strain to our mental health during these trying times. Mostly consisting of rants, this episode is a return to form for the show and being one of the first ones that we have done since the last podcast launched back in May after the killing of George Floyd. So join us in knocking out some of the dust and cleaning up the cobb webs. We are back and proud to bring you weekly episodes of our shenanigans. I may have been drunk when recording the intro and outro.... oh well!

Ep 32: Where Do We Go From Here? Because I Am Tired
This is the first time we have ever put video to our Barely Qualified podcast. Unfortunately, I recorded it in a format that isn't easy to edit, and when it is reformated I lose visual and audio fidelity. With that being said this episode is full of frustration and anger while we try to navigate our feelings in this current climate of being black men in America. We discuss stories from our past interactions with the police and how there is a daily reminder that we have to be careful of our actions, or we could end up being another victim. Spend some time with us. Listen. Its been too long since we have been heard.

Ep. 31: Practicing Social Distancing /w Alyssa Harmadi
Fears over the pandemic, religious extremism, and defining what makes The South, the south, is all inside of this week's episode of Barely Qualified. Political science major and overall badass Alyssa Harmadi, shared her views on the south and a general lack of openmindedness that seems to be prevalent in the region. She shared her views on her personal religious beliefs and what terrifies her about the current pandemic that we find ourselves surrounded in.

Ep. 30: The Monkey Bread Monologues Pt. 2 w/ Larry, Kerry and Kipp
This weeks episode is a continuation of The Monkey Bread Monologues with Kerry, Kipp and Larry returning for the second half of the episode. We discuss random Applebees hate coming from some rap artists as well as our perspective takes in porn. We had to make a correction for a presumption of a local DJ hosts ethnicity, since in the age of Google, why would we ever verify anything. Finally we rap up with our love languages and the groups perspectives on what happens after we pass from this mortal coil. All and that and more inside of this weeks episode. Ep. 29: The Monkey Bread Monologues Pt. 1 w/ Larry, Kerry, and Kipp

Ep. 29: The Monkey Bread Monologues Pt. 1 w/ Larry, Kerry, and Kipp
An awesome episode this week with three friends of mine Larry, Kerry, and Kipp. No this is not the black version of the three stooges, but they are hilarious gentlemen nonetheless. In this first part of the two-part series we talk a lot about relationship duties, and responsibilities. What is considered an inordinate amount of sexual desire? How many licks does it take until you get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? And we end on politics. Which is poly meaning many, and tics meaning blood sucking vermen. There is genuine laughter and hilarity along the way and again this is part one of a two part silly series.
