In the final episode of season four of Book Eaters Podcast April and Michele drink classic gin martinis and discuss the Barnes and Noble Book of the Year.  Will April's love of cooking affect how she feels about the book?  Will Michele ever pronounce the main character's name correctly? Join them as they digest this story where a home-cooked meal becomes the centerpiece of a steminist novel.  Did they take Lessons in Chemistry to heart or will it fail to butter their bread?

In this episode, April and Michele discuss Demon Copperhead the Nobel Prize Winning Novel for Fiction written by Barbara Kingsolver.  Pour a Rusty Nail and join them as they discuss what butters their bread about this book based on the classic Charles Dickens Novel, David Copperfield.   Is this the coming-of-age story that finally wins Michele over?  Will April think it lives up to her love of the original characters? In this April led episode the Book Eaters discuss the Edgar award-winning novel Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka.  April and Michele imbibe the classic cocktail Suffering Bastard as they discuss what butters their bread about the New York Times Best Crime Novel of the Year.  No book is perfect so they will also discuss what they didn't like about the novel and if they would throw the baby out with the bath water.  Come for the spoiler-heavy review of the national best-selling novel but stay for the drunken history that follows about the legendary storyteller and poet Edgar Allan Poe. 

Michele and April finally agree on a book.   Do they love or hate the best selling novel IT Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover?  In this episode, Book Eaters podcast talks about the former USA Today best-selling list and the author who made many marks upon it.  Pour yourself a Cape Cod and listen in as they discover if everything is better in Boston or if the book placed there falls flat.   Stay for the bookend when Michele quizzes April on her knowledge of the best-selling author.

Michele and April discuss what butters their bread about Babel: Or, The Necessity of Violence An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators Revolution by R.F Kuang.    They discover the minty freshness of a Stinger classic cocktail and delve deep into conversation about pronunciation and their love of language.  Join them as they decide if they agree with the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association on the Nebula Award winner or if they will throw the baby out with the bathwater.  

April and Michele discuss Goodread's most shelved book Happy Place by Emily Henry.  They drink margaritas and discuss the envious friendships and relationships in the first romance book to be reviewed this season.  

June is Audiobook appreciation month.  So it is apt that Michele and April discuss the Audio Publishers Association's AudioBook of the Year.  Several awards called Audies are given for multiple categories, but this year's top nod went to Viola Davis for her memoir Finding Me.  The banter and the drinking continue into season four as the Book Eater cohosts discover the delights of classic cocktails.   In this first episode, they have paired an Old Fashioned with a brand-new book.  April read the book, and Michele listened to it.  Join them as they decide if they want to throw this proverbial baby out with the bathwater or soak in it over and over again. 

Book Eaters Podcast invites fan fiction writer Lea, to discuss the ins and outs of fan fiction and slash fiction.  Michele and April learn from Lea where to access fan/slash fiction and the various ins and outs of the tags and warnings involved.  They discuss who they "ship" Rum with in a cocktail, and discover their own personal One True Rum Pairing.  

In this episode, Michele and April talk about how it seems like there are fewer stand-alone books and more series.  Instead of a cocktail, they drink a series of shots.  They discuss the pros and cons of book series.  

Tracy Stegall rejoins the Book Eaters Podcast to discuss the vast world of speculative fiction and the interesting book premises whose origination is difficult to understand.  April leads the discussion with a rum-based twist of the White Russian cocktail in honor of a beloved stoned character from The Big Lewbowski entitled The Dude Abides. 

April and Michele talk about banned books.  The cocktail is the Rosemary Pickford, a pun on a cocktail based on the sweetheart of the 1920s Mary Pickford, and the cocktail with her namesake. 

In this episode, April and Michele talk about books that have been translated from another language into English. They ponder why Americans don't read more translated stories.  April expresses her desire to be closer to the text and Michele challenges her to learn another language.  April crafts a drink which is a translated version of the Jungle Bird.

April and Michele enjoy a cocktail fashioned after M-Bot, a character from the Brandon Sanderson penned Skyward book series.  They discuss the many times that robots showed up as characters in their favorite novels, what a robot is, and where our fear of sentience in robots originates.  The cocktail includes truffle oil, rum, orange juice, and vanilla extract. 

April and Michele welcome Cayte Peach to join them as they discuss the book series the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.  In this spoiler-heavy episode, the Book Eaters Podcast takes a myriad of avenues, discussing in detail parts of the book series, the audiobook adaptions, Jordon Con, as well as the recent first season of the television show.  As long time fans of the series there is quite a bit of gushing and certainly a great deal of spoilers.  We recommend that you read the entire series as well as watch the show before listening to this episode.  As is our way, a drink was fashioned for the show entitled Tel'aran'rhiod, it contains rum, whiskey, mint tea, honey, and cream.  It can be served on ice or hot.   

In the first episode of Season Three of Book Eaters Podcast,  Michele and April join forces with April's long-time friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Marcia Hudson.  They discuss the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. Join them as they drink their way through history.   The featured drink is Grog, made with sugar, water, rum, and lime juice.  Beer, wine, tea, cola, and coffee are also consumed and discussed. 

Special Guest Agnes Gomillion joins the Book Eaters Podcast to talk about publishing from an authors perspective.  We take a deep dive into 'The Record Keeper" including some content that might be considered a spoiler and Agnes hints at what is to come in the 'Seed of Cain' scheduled for release in September of 2021.  Early childhood memories are also discussed.

In this episode we are joined by our friend and library professional Christina to talk through all things library.  We talk about where our love for libraries originated, what kind of programs and offerings are available and how library lending works.   

In this Iris lead episode Michele and April are joined by thriller author E. A Aymar, who also writes under the pseudonym of E.A. Barres.  Michele explains why she doesn't enjoy books about the love of New York City, April talks about her recent obsession with historic crime novels, our guest Ed shares with us his inspirations and writing process and Iris somewhat successfully manages to keep everyone on the topic of influential authors.   

For those of you who said we were editing out all the drunk bits, this episode is evidence that we are listening to your feedback. In this episode Michele speaks passionately as only a person who has had to many drinks can, about literary mechanisms including creating copies of characters, forbidden love, and unnecessary plot twists.  Meanwhile Iris calmly explains what kind of humor she enjoys, and April expresses her opinions on character resurrections and odd couple type romances.  The love of puns and absurd humor is discussed, and they all discover that they might just be fodder for the deeper plan.
