Stephanie Hsu's remarkable performance in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' deserved recognition at the Oscars, yet she was snubbed in favor of Jamie Lee Curtis for Best Supporting Actress. Hsu's portrayal of Joy Wang aka Jobu Tupaki in the film brought a depth and nuance to the character that made her stand out in a crowded field of talented actresses. Her emotional range and comedic timing added a unique dimension to the film, and her absence from the list of nominees is a disappointing oversight. Despite this snub, Hsu's performance is a testament to her talent and a reminder of the impact that underrepresented voices can have in Hollywood.

Ep. 10: These Hallmark Movies CAN'T Be Real!

Ep. 10: These Hallmark Movies CAN'T Be Real!

Welcome to another episode of the Burke and the Betas podcast! In this episode, we put our movie-watching skills to the test by each selecting a different Hallmark holiday movie to watch and review.

For those unfamiliar with Hallmark movies, they are known for their predictable storylines, romantic themes, and often cheesy dialogue. We decided to see if we could make it through four different Hallmark movies in one sitting and share our thoughts on each one.

One of us, however, has a surprise in store. Instead of watching a real Hallmark movie, they have made up their own movie and will be sharing their review as if it were a real movie. Can you guess who it is? You'll have to tune in to find out!

Overall, our four Hallmark movie marathon was a mixed bag of emotions. While we appreciated the festive holiday setting and romantic themes, we also couldn't help but cringe at some of the more cheesy and formulaic moments.

If you're a fan of Hallmark movies, we'd love to hear your thoughts on our reviews and which movie was your favorite. And if you're new to the Hallmark movie scene, we hope our episode gives you a sense of what to expect from these feel-good holiday flicks.

Thank you for listening to another episode of Burke and the Betas. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more movie night adventures and reviews.

Ep.9: Arnold Jingles All The Way to the Oscars!

In this video, Burke and the Betas are discussing the possibility of Arnold Schwarzenegger joining the MCU. Do you think he'll make a good Santa Clause? Let us know in the comments!

As you may know, Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently in negotiations to join the MCU as Santa Clause. This has caused a lot of controversy on the right wing, with some people claiming that Schwarzenegger is promoting right wing propaganda. In this video, Burke and the Betas are discussing the pros and cons of this news. Do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger will be a good Santa Clause? Let us know in the comments!

Ep.8: Is The Santa Clause Right Wing Propaganda?

Ep.8: Is The Santa Clause Right Wing Propaganda?

In this episode of Burke and the Betas, I'm reviewing Tim Allen's new movie, The Santa Clause. The Santa Clause is a recent movie that has sparked controversy among conservatives, with many believing that it is patently right wing propaganda. As we reviewed this film in preparation for the new Disney Plus series Santa Clauses, we also learned of Tim Allen's new more publicized right wing conservative ideologies, which then painted a whole new picture for us of the original Santa Clause film. As we watched and reviewed this film, it became apparent to us that this film also shared these same toxic ideologies.

In this Burke and The Betas review, we discuss whether or not The Santa Clause is right wing propaganda, and whether or not it is worth watching. We also share our thoughts on the movie as a whole, and give you our verdict on whether or not it's worth watching.

On this episode we review the original, Best Batman Movie Ever, Batman (1966). Starring TV's Adam West as the titular Bruce Wayne, this movie pits Batman and Robin up against The Penguin (Burgess Meredith), Catwoman (Lee Meriweather), The Riddler (Frank Gorshin), and The Joker (Cesar Romero).

Ep.4: The Emoji Movie is CHAOS

Ep.4: The Emoji Movie is CHAOS

On our fourth episode of the Burke and the Betas Podcast we discuss the the abomination that is the Emoji Movie. We have feelings ranged from mixed to negative thoughts on this movie. In this movie we have T.J. Miller playing Gene Meh, an emoji set on clearing his name so he can work in the cube. Other characters include hi-five (james corden), jalibreak (anna faris) Poop (Patrick Stewart). Leaving textopolis he sets off through a series of popular capitalist IP including wechat, facebook, instagram, youtube, twitter, just dance, candy crush, spotify and more, displaying the capitalist hellscape that lay inside Alex's phone. This movie is almost as controversial as T.J.Miller is himself.

On Today's Bonus Episode of Burke and The Betas we are giving a spoiler review of Halloween Ends 2022. Giving you our thoughts and opinions on this interesting film starring Michael Myers, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), Allyson something and a cast of slasher fodder and the new guy. We explain the events of the movie even if they dont make sense and then also provide a detailed explanation of the ending and if there may be a sequel or continuation of the franchise. We did not like this movie so be forewarned. (Spoiler)

    Ep.3: Halloween DOUBLE-FEATURE!

    Ep.3: Halloween DOUBLE-FEATURE!

    LEAVE US A REVIEW!

On our third episode of the Burke and the Betas Podcast we discuss the Halloween Trilogy! Spoiler reviews only for Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills. We have feelings ranged from mixed to negative thoughts on these movies. Michael Myers is back and less special than ever in this interesting set of additions to the slasher genre. While I liked Halloween, Halloween Kills was (pun intended) the nail in the coffin for my hope in this franchise. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is unfortunately a failed attempt of a revenge story that is seemingly abandoned following the first movie and leaves the legacy to her daughter and granddaughter Karen and Allyson. While we are saving spoilers for a bonus episode, Halloween Ends continues this attempt at legacy but leaves nothing to be desired for a continued franchise.

    Ep.2: Midsommar Madness!

    Ep.2: Midsommar Madness!

Today on our second episode of the Burke and the Betas Podcast we review Ari Aster's artistic cinematic masterpiece Midsommar, featuring Florence Pugh, Will Poulter, William Jackson Harper, Jack Reynor, and Vilhelm Blomgren. This psychological horror was snubbed from the Oscars and we are here for justice! This is one to add to your movie watchlist and it is definitely a messed up movie!
