Weekend One is in the books with a big surprise from Arcade Fire. There were some logistical issues but overall Coachella was a huge success after a two-year hiatus. Terry Corso, of We Are Pigs and Alien Ant Farm, talks with co-hosts Vanessa Franko and Tom Nash about what it’s like to go to festivals as a fan and a performer, how Coachella compares to festivals around the world. Terry also shares some of his favorite Coachella memories and  talks about photographing Coachella and what he looks for when he’s behind the lens.   The COVID-19 rules around concerts are changing. AEG Presents, which owns Coachella promoter Goldenvoice, is requiring fans to be vaccinated as of Oct. 1. Other festivals are instituting rules to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result.  We talk about the pandemic and the concert industry and what it will take for things to come back.  We talk about how Coachella changed the Southern California music landscape.  Coachella is a place to find some hidden gems every year. Vanessa’s rule is that if she sees Terry on the field, she follows him. That’s how she saw Trash Talk and Ghost B.C. How does Coachella compare to festivals around the world? Derick McDuff, co-host of The Underrated podcast  joins co-hosts Tom Nash and Vanessa Franko, to talk about the time PBS show California’s Gold went to Coachella back in 2008, why you should plan ahead for the fest and more.  In this episode: Vanessa and Tom went to concerts again! There’s the new Festival Electrica in San Pedro with Los Tucanes de Tijuana next month and more.  We talk about some great Coachella sets, including the time Tove Lo appeared with Alesso looking like an angel, Blur, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Hans Zimmer and more. Coachella has played host to a number of film composers over the years, including Daft Punk, Hans Zimmer and Trent Reznor. We’re hoping Danny Elfman will add to the list in 2022. We hope Mika and Hot Chip will be back, too.  Coachella let an outside film crew in for Huell Howser’s PBS show “California’s Gold” back in 2008. Angel Chavez is an entrepreneur from the Coachella Valley and the creator behind the No. 1 Coachella channel on YouTube with more than 100 videos dedicated to the festival.   This episode includes the news of Riverside County’s top health official signing the order to cancel the event in April because of the pandemic. Jeff Miller is a journalist, musician, and TV personality who has covered every Coachella since 2002. Jeff talks about how Coachella is unlike every other festival out there and how it has been a trendsetter not only in music but also in its approach to food and beverage. He also shares how the festival has changed since he started going in 2002 (hint: it’s a lot bigger now), plus what it was like to be on stage at Coachella and be interviewed for the festival’s live stream. Co-hosts Tom Nash and Vanessa Franko talk with Jeff about the future of Coachella in 2021 and how even if the COVID-19 vaccine allows major concerts to happen, why Coachella might want to pause until 2022. Tom shares a story about running into one of what would have been Coachella’s hot 2020 bands in an airport.  We also talk about what we hope the future is for Rage Against the Machine and how Pup, a small print band from the 2020 lineup will make you rock out.  Jeff also talks about playing Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace with his band Black Crystal Wolf Kids.
