Hosted by: Patricia Fickling Guest: Shirlene Stafford On December 1 I celebrated 7 years of being a Head and Neck Cancer Survivor. I was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. My son and I founded a 501C (3) Cancer Nonprofit Organization. I’ve been the CEO of Cancer Not My Friend since April 2021. Both of my parents died from Cancer. I’m the only sibling out of six kids who had cancer. I’m a Co-Chairman at Grady Memorial Hospital of Atlanta Georgia Patient, Family Advocate Care (PFAC) within their Cancer Center. I’m a new volunteer with the American Cancer Society. In June 2023 I returned to online college at Georgia State University to obtain my degree in Healthcare Administration and Business Management. I actively volunteer with other organizations and companies to continue my journey and career in serving God’s people.

Hosted by: Anna Linzie & Friends Guest bio Dr. Nathan Stephens is an Assistant Professor in Social Work at Illinois State University. He earned his BSW at Columbia College and both his master’s in social work and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou). At its core, his research investigates how racialization and racial stress/trauma impacts the life trajectories of Black boys and men, when juxtaposed with the educational, criminal justice, and other interconnected systems that reproduce oppressive conditions and foster negative life outcomes for Black males. Dr. Stephens’ research uses the lenses of Critical Race Theory, African American Male Theory, Ecological System Theory, and Healing Centered Engagement model to inform his research. Prior to working in higher education, Dr. Stephens previously worked with civil rights icon Wynna Faye Elbert at Columbia’s Parks and Recreation-Community Recreation Division. (Community Recreation indicates the predominately Black and low-income Douglass Park area in Columbia’s First Ward.) For his master’s thesis project, he created the Youth Empowerment Zone, modeled after the Harlem Children’s Zone, that assisted youth 14-24 to obtain employment. (The program currently operates as CoMo Youthworks.) Dr. Stephens’ belief in mentoring led to him accepting a position with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ as the coordinator of their Children of Prisoners program. He co-founded the First Ward Ambassadors, a program where Black men from the community who intervened into youth fights to limit police interactions. His motivation to help his community stems from his experiences growing up in public housing in Columbia and as a former justice system involved individual. After changing his focus to higher education, Dr. Stephens created the Mizzou Black Men’s Initiative (MBMI) in 2009 while serving as the Director of the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center on the Mizzou campus. He has presented at several conferences nationally and internationally on issues impacting Black males such as mental health, racism, and the various psycho-social aspects.

It has been proven through scriptures that poverty is a curse and something the gospel reverses when biblical principles are applied properly. It has been proven through research, we can distinguish between "Pimping or Preaching"—which are those who use the word of God primarily as a means of personal profit (1 Tim. 6: 5). The following are signs of Pimping: When the focus of the ministry is always of financial gain. Christian should not have an issue with tithes and offering. After all, without financial support the ministries cannot continue. What I am referring to in this point is the fact that some preachers have been converted into Pimps, using their platform for delusional “prosperity." When finances are the primary focus (main topics) of a minister or pastors platform—usually a sign they may be a prosperity pimp!. Also, when finances are used to obtain a blessing. There are some so-called prophets who charge money for personal prophecies, laying of the hands? When finances are the main topic for a "life-transforming word" then for a regular word from “God” despite biblical and historical facts, some religious leaders still are “Pimping” instead of “Preaching.”

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 12:32 Herbert Moore, Jr. was born in Elberton, GA, where he graduated from high school in 1971. He and his late wife, Rosemary, married April 20, 1974. They were both later baptized into Christ on November 6, 1976. In their 36 years of marriage, Herbert's greatest earthly support in the home, church and business, was Rosemary. They have several children and grandchildren. Herbert is now married to his lovely wife Linda. Herbert began preaching within a year after obeying the Gospel. His fast track studies of God's Word were given by his military Christian friends that baptized him. Less than a year later, he was stationed in Germany, where he was appointed minister in 1978. While in the military, he attended several preaching schools. Later he attended Abilene Christian University. He graduated from Point University with a BS in Biblical Studies, and the World Biblical Institute with a Master in Biblical Studies. Herbert received an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Ministries from the American Christian School of Religion. He served for 29 years as minister of the Church of Christ at Old National, in College Park, GA. That congregation merged with the Church of Christ at Atlanta Airport area, where he presently holds the position of minister. He is a Chaplain at the Atlanta Airport, where he also holds weekly worship services and Bible classes. Herbert is directly or indirectly responsible for baptizing over 900 souls. He has hosted a prime time television program called "Speaking the Gospel" for over 19 years.
