Everything derives from who I am. The more I know myself, the more I am aware of my resources, my gifts, my shades, my blind spots, the way I choose, my principles, my why, etc., and what to do with it, the wider, the clearer, the more full of possibilities and transformative power is the space I can hold for an impactful and empowering facilitation experience to happen.
This applies to every human being. It’s a universal Truth.
This is the first place where polarity thinking is useful for the coach. Within the list of coaching core competencies of the ICF are a series of implicit polarities.
Barry also discusses how polarity thinking can help the coaches determine which are problems they can solve and which are polarities that are inherently unsolvable. Finally, we cover the application of polarity thinking in helping the coachee leverage the inherent tension between the two poles of the individual and organizational polarities.
