Confessions of a Young Doctor

I cannot believe it has been a whole year of my start up orthodontic practice! The time has flown by, but it also seems like it has been a journey! One of my main struggles this year was trying to find hard data on how the practice should be doing. Now that I have completed a full year of practice, I've decided to share our end of year stats, how I'm feeling, and some of our goals for next year.

It has been a great year and I can't wait to see how we do in year 2! I hope this helps shed some light on my experience and provide a basis of comparison for anyone else interested in doing something similar.

But, letting yourself go down the path of constant overwhelm can lead to burnout and even more stress. Resume writing for doctors is slightly different than our corporate colleagues. It can be particularly challenging for new doctors to get out of the academic mindset and tailor their resume to a career after school or residency. 2020 has been a trying year for all of us. I have grown a lot as a young doctor this year and I owe that to a few simple mindset shifts. I really internalized three phrases that we hear all the time:

-You can't control others, just the way you think and react
-Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself
-No matter what you're feeling, you're not alone
