    Conversations of Christ

Our purpose at Conversations of Christ is threefold: first, to get clear on our purpose and identity soul-deep; second, to learn to draw Christ’s healing and strengthening power more fully into our lives; and third to practice seeing God, ourselves and others deeply, enabling connection and desired change. Join host Ashley Marchant in this first season of Conversations of Christ as we focus on seeing Christ more deeply in our own lives by looking through the eyes of His daughter disciples in God's Word. Making connections with their experiences with Jesus and our own personal day-to-day life experiences.

    How I Prayer Journal

    How I Prayer Journal

The scriptures teach us that God speaks to us in our own language, according to our own understanding.  I think that when we understand the significance that God speaks so individually to us, according to how we will best understand and hear him, it can help us see how personal and intimate our relationship with God can be.  God knows you that perfectly.  God speaks your language.

In this episode, I share how I have come to better hear how God speaks to me through prayer journaling.  This was originally recorded as a bonus class in the 40-day Journey with Christ meditation course I created.  I wanted to share it with you during this busy season when we are celebrating Christ, but it can feel hard to sometimes make enough room for Him in all the hustle.  This will hopefully help you see ways to increase your ability and capacity to hear Him.

I also share about a favorite family tradition of ours, the Bethlehem Dinner.   I created a guide you can download as a free PDF that will walk you through creating a meaningful Christ-centered evening of your own.  It includes ideas for the food, setting, costumes, and most importantly the discussion.  I share the list of scriptures and nativity figures our family uses along with questions for each person participating to ponder beforehand.  You can find it at www.restandabide.com/BethlehemDinner.

    Purposeful Prayer and Seeking Truth

    Purposeful Prayer and Seeking Truth

In this conversation with Amy Lamborn, we explore what it looks like in life to receive the Savior's rest.  Things like purposeful prayer and seeking truth from many God-inspired sources are two ways our souls can find and receive rest.

Becoming Peacemakers: A Conversation with Laura and Joanna | Part 1

Becoming Peacemakers: A Conversation with Laura and Joanna | Part 1

“Charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Jesus Christ.  Charity defines a peacemaker.  When we humble ourselves before God and pray with all the energy of our hearts, God will grant us charity.” (President Russell M. Nelson)

Join me with Laura and Joanna as we talk about being peacemakers through seeing others deeply, listening and communicating with love, and share examples of those who have created peace in hard situations.

Creating Inner Peace with Self-Compassion Meditation

Creating Inner Peace with Self-Compassion Meditation

Becoming a peacemaker starts within your own heart and mind.  As we experience greater inner peace, we are better able to be patient and create peace in our outer relationships and daily experiences.  This episode includes a ~7-minute Christ-centered, self-compassion meditation.  It provides a guide to creating a kind and loving personal narrative you can use to help process through difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences to cultivate greater inner peace.  Creating a safe, kind relationship with ourselves allows us to better show up in the other parts of our life aligned with our divine, peacemaking identity.

Making Peace: Daughter Disciple Deborah (Judges 4-5)

Making Peace: Daughter Disciple Deborah (Judges 4-5)

Join me in this episode as we talk about the powerful ability women have to create peace and that we receive the grace to do so from our Maker.

"Charity, or the pure love of Christ, is motherhood in a very practical and real way...My mother-work will come directly through the whispers of the Holy Spirit. And it is no less real for being unrelated by blood and bone.” (Sharon Eubank)

This “mother work” as Sharon put it, and as we saw in the example of Deborah, is bearing with others and nurturing them in God.  It’s being yourself and holding up your unique light with courage, it’s being a strengthener and encourager, it’s meeting others where they’re.  It’s holding space for another to feel safe being exactly who they are.  It’s forgiving, it’s counseling together, it’s going to places that may be uncomfortable to help another not have to walk alone, it’s speaking the language of faith and hope, it’s wisdom and good judgment,  it’s turning hearts to God.  It’s helping restore freedom and faith and God.  It’s walking with Christ and receiving daily strength to be able to walk with others in difficult circumstances where peace needs to be made.   Mother-work is creating peace.

    The Shepherd of our Souls

    The Shepherd of our Souls

In this part 1 conversation with Amy and Stef, you will feel the tender hearts of these incredible women and how they found Christ seeking them out in their moments of darkness or wandering.  Christ goes after the one as the shepherd of our souls.  We talk about surrendering our will to God and walking to the edge of the light to receive so much growth, peace, and understanding from all we experience.  This conversation is part of the Finding Jesus in Every Step Series.

When God Calls You into the Wilderness

When God Calls You into the Wilderness

In this episode, my husband and I get to share with you some of the tender experiences we've had in our own wilderness times of life.  God promises so much to those traveling through these dessert-like places.  He gives us treasure here, makes these places beautiful and filled with life, and he goes before us as our shield and is our reward.  We share how we have found God in every step, even when those steps are unimaginably hard.

Finding Jesus in Every Step: Series Intro

Finding Jesus in Every Step: Series Intro
We're starting a new series!  We'll still be learning about daughter disciples (like Mary Magdalene and Hagar today), but with a bit of a twist.  We're looking at wilderness experiences in our lives in this series and where Christ shows up in our stories.  Wilderness times may be uncomfortable, stretching, or maybe even mundane, but they are times that have the potential to create amazing transformation within us and our lives.  They help us see Christ with new eyes and a new heart.  I can't wait to be with you here!

Courage to Face Your Mountains: Daughter Disciple Esther

Courage to Face Your Mountains: Daughter Disciple Esther
This episode explores the Old Testament story of Esther and parallels her story with gospel principles and applications for our day.  She went on a "heroine's journey", faced huge obstacles, was guided by a loving mentor, and was faced with a choice to act in courage and accomplish a task that brought her people to their knees in prayer and fasting.  We'll explore the idea of how knowing our eternal identity helps us accomplish and conquer all things, both big and small, that God asks of us.

The Light that Shines in Darkness

The Light that Shines in Darkness

Learning of Christ and coming to him facilitates peace and healing and allows us to have our minds changed to think more with heaven’s view.  As we prepare our homes and hearts for the Christmas season, this episode focuses on the roles of Christ as the “light of the world” and “the lamb of God”.  Two fitting descriptions of Him as we celebrate His birth.

As we draw near to Him and come to know and understand, love, and trust Him, we come to also know, understand and love ourselves more deeply in the process.  Thank you for joining me as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!

    10. Your Journey to the Well

We are jumping right back into our conversation with Audra and Camille.  We’ll be talking about what has helped us come to really know Christ personally. That Christ helps to carry us through our trials.  He helps make our burdens feel lighter and brings our hearts peace, even when there’s a storm going on around us.  Christ strengthens us to bear our burdens with ease.  Then he calls us to go and do the same for others.

    8. Your Encounters with Christ

    8. Your Encounters with Christ

As we look at this intimate biblical encounter with Christ and the Woman at the Well, we'll see the sweet and powerful way that Christ meets us exactly where we're at, even in the middle of our daily chores.

He sees our eternal worth and identity and wants all of us, including our weaknesses, which are often what allow Him to shine more brightly through us.  He just needs a willing heart.  We'll see a sweet transformation as Christ spends time with this daughter disciple and creates an environment to help her see His true identity.  As she learns of Christ’s identity as her Messiah, she comes to better understand her own identity.

This interaction between the Woman at the Well and Christ is one of the most detailed narratives between Christ and one of His daughter disciples in scripture that we have. It is so intimate, which helps us to see ourselves more easily in her shoes, helping us better see our own encounters with Christ.
