 Lección 4: Cordura

Esta noche: Lección 4 sobre la Cordura  

Principio 2:   En una forma sincera creo que Dios existe, que le intereso y que Él tiene el poder para ayudarme en mi recuperación

 

"Bienaventurados los que lloran, porque ellos serán consolados"

Mateo 5:4

Paso 2:  Llegamos a creer que un poder más grande que nosotros puede restaurarnos a la cordura.

 

" Pues Dios es quien produce en ustedes tanto el querer como el hacer para que se cumpla su buena voluntad."

 

Filipenses 2:13

En El Primer mes estudiamos el Principio 1:

·      Finalmente fuimos capaces de afrontar nuestra negación y admitir que somos incapaces de controlar nuestra tendencia a hacer lo malo y que nuestras vidas son inmanejables, fuera de control…

·      Ahora, Que necesitamos hacer ¿

·      Como y donde obtenemos el control ¿

·      LA respuesta es dar el segundo paso en nuestro camino hacia la recuperación.

 

El segundo paso nos dice que debemos llegar a creer que un poder mas grande que nosotros puede restaurarnos a la cordura.        (Sanidad)

Como resultado de admitir nuestra incapacidad en el principio 1, nos podemos mover del caos a la esperanza en el Principio 2

·      La esperanza viene cuando creemos que un poder más grande que nosotros mismos, un Poder Superior, Jesús Cristo, ¡puede y nos ha de restaurar.

·      Él puede restaurar el orden y significado para nuestra vida.

·      Solamente Él puede restáuranos hasta la cordura.

·      Cordura – Sanidad

 

Cordura (Sanity)

La insensatez (in sen sa tez) (foolishness) ha sido bien definida como “ hacer la misma cosa una y otra vez, esperando un resultado diferente en cada ocasión “

La sensatez ha sido definida como “buen juicio: tomar decisiones basadas en la verdad “

 

Confianza

Obvia firmeza

Renacer

Divino Poder Superior

Un verdadero apoyo

Rectitud

Aceptación

 

La primera letra es C, que significa CONFIANZA

·      Al trabajar en el Paso 2, comenzamos a confiar en nuestra amistad con otros y con nuestro Gran Poderoso.

 

El temor al hombre es un lazo, pero el que confía en el Señor estará seguro.

Proverbios 29:25 NBLH

 

Mientras “Soltamos cosas y nos entregamos a Dios “

·      Admitimos que nuestras vidas son inmanejables y que somos incapaces de hacer algo al respecto

·      Aprendemos a confiar en nosotros mismos y en otros

·      Comenzamos a tener verdaderos amigos en recuperación, en otros grupos, y en la iglesia

·      Refeccionen, no son los mismos tipos de conocidos o buenos amigos que conocimos cuando estábamos involucrados en nuestra adiciones y compulsiones

·      En recuperación usted puede encontrar verdaderos amigos (familia) hermanos y hermanas en Cristo

·      Que van a su lado en el caminar a través de los principios, amigos en los cuales puede confiar

·      Con los cuales puede hablar y puede crecer en Cristo  

 

La letra siguiente es O: Obvia Firmeza (Fortaleza)   

Cuando aceptamos a Jesús como nuestro Poder Superior:

·      Recibimos la firmeza para afrontar los temores que:

-      En el pasado, los causaron luchas, escapes, o nos paralizaron

Ahora podemos decir:

 

.       Dios es nuestro refugio y nuestra fortaleza, nuestra segura ayuda en momentos de angustia. Por eso, no temeremos

aunque se desmorone la tierra y las montañas se hundan en el fondo del mar

 

Salmos 46:1-2

 

           Mi carne y mi corazón pueden desfallecer, pero Dios es la fortaleza de mi corazón y mi porción para siempre.

         `

 

 El hecho de apoyarnos en nuestro propio poder, en nuestra propia fuerza, es lo que nos trajo en primer lugar a esta situación.

·      Creíamos que no necesitábamos la ayuda

·      La fortaleza o poder de Dios

·      Es como si nos hubiéramos desconectado de nuestra verdadera fuente de energía de Dios.

·      Dios vino cuando yo comencé a sentirme impotente.

·      Y eso mismo es lo que EL hará por usted.

 

 

La próxima letra es R: que significa Renacer (vida nueva)  

Estamos con lo más profundo de nuestras heridas, hábitos y complejos.

Conocemos los sentimientos expresados en:

 

Creo que deben conocer, hermanos, las tribulaciones que pasamos en Asia. Nos vimos tan aplastados bajo tanta presión, que temimos no salir de allí con vida. Nos pareció que estábamos ya sentenciados a muerte. Pero eso sucedió para que no confiáramos en nosotros mismos sino en Dios, que puede hasta resucitar a los muertos.

2 Corintios 1:8-9 NBV

 

Nos pareció que estábamos ya sentenciados a muerte y vivimos lo inútiles que éramos para escapar

·      Pero eso fue lo bueno

·      Porque entonces los dejamos todo en las manos del único que podía salvarnos: Dios

·      ¡Que puede resucitar hasta los muertos!

·      El versículo siguiente dice: ¡El…nos ayudó…y nos volverá a librar ¡  

·      Jesús pago el castigo por nuestros pecados en la cruz

·      ¡La esperanza de una nueva vida es la libertad de nuestra esclavitud ¡

·      Al volverse Cristiano, uno se convierte en una persona totalmente diferente.

·      Deja de ser el antes

·      Surge una nueva vida

 

Por lo tanto, si alguno está en Cristo, es una nueva creación. ¡Lo viejo ha pasado, ha llegado ya lo nuevo!

 

2 Corintios 5:17

 

La letra D en nuestro acróstico de esta noche es DIVINO Poder Superior, Jesús Cristo

 

·      Te ama así, como eres.

 

Pero Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en esto: en que cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.

         Romanos 5:8

·      No importa lo que venga, en su andar, juntos, usted y Dios pueden manejar cualquier situación.

·      Es posible que a hoy este desanimado/desanimada

·       

Ustedes no han sufrido ninguna tentación que no sea común al género humano. Pero Dios es fiel y no permitirá que ustedes sean tentados más allá de lo que puedan aguantar. Más bien, cuando llegue la tentación, él les dará también una salida a fin de que puedan resistir.

         1 Corintios 10:13

 

Bendito sea el Señor, nuestro Dios y Salvador, que día tras día sobrelleva nuestras cargas.

 

Salmos 68:19

 

·      Cuando aceptamos a Jesucristo como nuestro Divino Poder Superior y Salvador:

 

-      No solamente se nos garantiza la vida eterna, sino que también tenemos la protección de Dios en tiempos de dificultades…

 

                    Bueno es el Señor; es refugio en el día de la angustia y conoce a los que en él confían.

 

               Nahum 1:7

 

Seguimos con la letra U: Un Verdadero Apoyo

·      Apoyarnos en nuestro poder y en nuestra fortaleza es lo que en primer lugar nos tiene qui

·      Creíamos que no necesitábamos la ayuda de Dios, su fuerza, ni poder.

·      Es algo así como si estuviéramos desconectados de nuestra verdadera fuente de poder ¡Dios ¡

·      Decidir que mi vida finalmente busque a Dios y su poder

-      No a mi poder limitado, debilidad, sentido de inferioridad, incapacidad

-      Ha llegado a ser mi fortaleza mas grande

-       

                                    Dios llego donde mi incapacidad comienza

 

El siguiente beneficio de este paso es la R que significa.  RECTITUD (integridad)  

·      Obtenemos rectitud cuando comenzamos a cumplir nuestras promesas

·      Otros comienzan a confiar en lo que decimos…

·      El apóstol Juan le dio un gran valor a la rectitud.

 

Nada me produce más alegría que oír que mis hijos viven en la verdad.

3 Juan 4

·      Recuerda que una verdad a medias es una mentira completa

·      La mentira es el resultado de la debilidad y del temor

·      La verdad no teme a nada ¡solo encubrimiento ¡

·      La verdad es algo que frecuentemente duele

·      Pero es la mentira la que deja cicatrices ¡

 

La última letra es la A Aceptación

Así pues, acéptense los unos a los otros, como también Cristo los aceptó a ustedes, para gloria de Dios.

Romanos 15:7 DHH

 

·      Cuando damos el Paso 2 aprendemos a tener expectativas realistas de nosotros mismos y otros

·      Expectactativas Realistas

·      Aprendemos a no asociar a la gente de la misma vieja forma

·      Esperando una respuesta o resultado diferente de la que nos han dado una y otra vez

·      Comenzamos a encontrar la cordura que habíamos estado buscando

·      Recordamos orar y pedirle a Dios

-      “que nos dé valor de cambiar las cosas que podemos cambiar y aceptar las que no podemos “

-       Y mientras nuestra fe crece y llegamos a conocer de una forma mejor a nuestro Poder Superior Jesucristo

 

-      Resulta fácil para nosotros aceptar a otros como ellos son realmente, no como nos gustaría que fueran…

 

 

1)Puede Dios manejar mi lucha con mi descreimiento ¿(falta de fe)

Ha vido un tiempo o otro cuando batallamos con nuestra fe…

-      A que ser sinceros

-      En Marcos 9 ay una historia de un

-      El Papa fue con sus discípulos que le ayudaran a sacarle en demonio

-      Pero no podían

-      Estaba tan endemoniado que el demonio lo tiraba al piso, y le empezaba a salir espuma de la boca, y por anos estaba pasado esto

-      El papa llega con Jesucristo y el demonio tiro al niño a piso y le empieza a dar ataques…

-       

 Marcos capitulo 9: 21-24

 

Así que se lo llevaron. Tan pronto como vio a Jesús, el espíritu sacudió de tal modo al muchacho que este cayó al suelo y comenzó a revolcarse echando espumarajos. —¿Cuánto tiempo hace que le pasa esto? —le preguntó Jesús al padre.—Desde que era niño —contestó—. 22Muchas veces lo ha echado al fuego y al agua para matarlo. Si puedes hacer algo, ten compasión de nosotros y ayúdanos.

23Jesús dijo:—¿Cómo que si puedo? Para el que cree, todo es posible.

24—¡Sí, creo! —exclamó de inmediato el padre del muchacho—. ¡Ayúdame en mi falta de fe!

 

·      Cuando estamos en una batalla larga… somos como el Padre, creemos, pero…

·      A veces tenemos esa duda…. Padre… Para ti todo es posible… Pero, Ayúdame en mi falta de fe…

 

Marcos 9: 28-29

 

Cuando Jesús entró en casa, sus discípulos le preguntaron en privado:

—¿Por qué nosotros no pudimos expulsarlo? 29 —Esta clase de demonios solo puede ser expulsada a fuerza de oración.

 

·      Fuerza de oración…

·      Siento que la Fe de una persona va mano a mano con oración no ¿

 

-      Suave explicación

-      Dios está bien, que a veces tenemos dudas…

-       

 

2)                 Hay alguna evidencia de la existencia de Dios ¿

·      Cuando estamos en el santuario les pido que miren alrededor …

·      miren a los Hermanos y Hermanas cuando estamos cantando alabanzas a Señor…

·      Emos oído testimonios 

·      Hermanos que predican la Palabra del Dios, que tenemos un testimonio dándole gloria al Rey de Reyes y Señor de Señores…

·      Se puede empezar allí  

 

Mateo 9:9-10

Mientras Jesús estaba a la mesa en casa de Mateo, muchos recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores llegaron y comieron con él y sus discípulos. 11Cuando los fariseos vieron esto, preguntaron a sus discípulos:—¿Por qué come su maestro con recaudadores de impuestos y con pecadores?

12Al oír esto, Jesús contestó:—No son los sanos los que necesitan médico, sino los enfermos. 13Pero vayan y aprendan qué significa esto: “Lo que pido de ustedes es misericordia y no sacrificios”. Porque no he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores.

 

 

3) ¿Estoy confundiendo DUDAS con desafío / resistencia ¿

yo queriendo hacer caminar a mi esposa y no dejando que Dios trabaje en su vida  ( fix verbage )  

 

Tenemos una visión distorsionada de Dios cuando hacemos al Dios que nos hizo a Su imagen, un Dios a quien hacemos a nuestra propia imagen

 

Si Dios no responde a nuestras oraciones de la manera en que queremos que se hagan, o cuando queremos que se hagan, nosotros somos los primeros en declarar nuestro desafío e independencia de Dios

 

 

4) Yo creo en el Señor, pero porque siguió sufriendo ¿

 

Esta respuesta tiene que ver con la cualidad de la fe más que con la su cantidad.

·      Este ha sido nuestro punto ciego.

·      Supusimos que humildad cuando en realidad no la teníamos.

·      Es Sufrimiento o so Pruebas ¿

 

 

 

Romanos 5:3-4

 

Y no solo esto, sino que también nos gloriamos en las tribulaciones, sabiendo que la tribulación produce paciencia; 4y la paciencia, prueba; y la prueba, esperanza;

 

Si ahora estoy flaqueando ( debilitando ) en mi fe, mi fe está basada en el Dios equivocado.

Una fe que no puede ser probada, es una fe en la que no se puede confiar...

Porque la verdadera fe se fortalece a través de las pruebas, no se debilita...

 

 

 Resumen:

Recuperación es un programa diario (por cualquier batalla que tengamos)

·      Necesitamos un poder mucho mayor que nosotros mismos: Jesucristo

·      Un Poder Superior que nos proveerá fortaleza, aceptación y nueva vida.

Integridad y confianza para permitirnos tomar decisiones sanas ¡basadas en Su Verdad ¡  

 

Nacer de Nuevo

Trusting God in the Storm

Mark 4:35-41

Wind and Wave Obey Jesus

35On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

 

If we go back to Mark 4:1

And again, He began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea. 2Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching:

·     This scene was repeated on a number of occasions.

·     The crowds were so massive that they pressed Him all the way to the water’s edge.

·     The only way He could get some space between Him, and the crowds was if He were to get in a boat.

·     The water would act like a reflection of His voice and the Hillside surrounding would act like an amphitheater,

·     Jesus had taught:

-               The lamp under a basket

-               The parable of the seed- planted at night that grows, the farmer knows not how.

-               The parable of the Mustard seed

-               Most likely He taught many more parables than just these.

-               He pulled the disciples to the side and explained the meaning of the parables.

 

 

Casting out an unclean spirit           1:23-28  Jesus power over the forces of evil

Healing Peter’s mother in law         1:29-34  Jesus Power over sickness

Cleansing a Leper  1:40-45         Jesus compassion and His power over sickness

Healing a man with a withered hand   3:1-6           Jesus power over sickness and His authority to do good on the Sabbath

 

 

 

Vs 33-34

And with many such parables He spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it. 34But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples.

 

Vs 35

On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”

-      The disciples were now on a journey with the will of God.

-      They witnessed Jesus teach to the multitudes, He clearly explained the parables to them and answered all their questions.  

-      And now He says, “ Let’s get in the boat and cross over to the other side…”  

-      So now we have the disciples and Jesus in the boat.

-      Boat Size: 27’ long by 7.5’ wide and 4.5’ deep

-      Propelled by 4 sets of Oars: Sails when possible.

-      Back of the boat seat or a bench: it had a pillow for the person steering the boat.

 

See life couldn’t get better:

-      You just went to church with Jesus, hearing the word of God, and now you’re taking a little cruise with him.

Vs 36

Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.

All of this is happening in the dead center of the Will of God…

-      But now we run into a problem.

 

V 37

 

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

 

Now: Let’s take a look at the disciples

-      Many of them were fishermen.

-      We know that Andrew, Peter, James and John were Fishermen..    Thomas, Nathaniel and Philip may have also worked as fishermen, for they were all together and fishing when Jesus appeared to them in John 21:2-8, following his resurrection.

-      They know about Storms.

-      But when a professional fisherman is freaking out, something is definitely wrong.

-      So now we have a major situation going on here.

-      WE have a major storm,  while being in the WILL of God…

What does this tell us?

-      It will and can rain in the WILL of God

-      It’s not always going to be sunshine and rainbows during the WILL of God…

-       

The Wind of the Storm was shaking and moving the boat / at the same time filling up with water.

God Ordained Storm:

·     WE could assume that these were especially chosen winds to accomplish this miracle, to put our Lord in the position to demonstrate that He in fact is the one who controls His creation.

 

This Storm:

-       This kind of trial is an unexpected circumstance that rattles your life and threatens your well-being.

-      We’re talking about a situation where your life is on the line.

-      You don’t know if you’re going to be ok or not!

What is the storm in your life right now?

What storm have you had in the past?

 

A Storm, a Trial, Tribulation:

-      Is designed to increase your faith.

-      To give you a deeper experience with God

-      You can have small storms or large storms, but they always come with a PURPOSE.

-      See, with God there is no coincidence

 

So here we have a situation, or we can call it a crisis, a circumstance:

 

There are 3 storms were looking at here:

1) We have a Circumstantial Storm

-      A circumstantial storm that they had no control over

You can’t control:

-      The Sea, Wind, the Waves

-      Completely out of your control

-      So, you can be in the WILL of God, in a Storm and no be able to do anything about it...

 

2)                 Emotional Storm

-      So, Jesus and disciples are out in the boat at night, so that didn’t help either.

-      The disciples were scared, you can say terrified.

 

 

This is to be a Lesson:

Let’s look at

 vs 40

“Why are you so fearful? “How is it that you have no faith?

This is a Faith Lesson…

The Point:

-      That our Lord wants to teach His Disciples that He can be trusted in the most threatening of circumstances

 

 

·     The disciples weren’t fearful, they were freaking out!

·     So now we have 2 storms.

-      The circumstance

-      Now the Emotional Storm

So, they’re scared about:

-      They’re financials.

-      Not finding a job

-      Scared about their marriage problems.

-      So they start throwing the D word in conversations with their spouse…. Divorce

-      They’re scared about being alone and not finding a spouse.

-      They’re scared about Trusting again.

-      They’re scared about their addiction and not being to live without it.

-      They’re scared about living in their Grief…

-      They’re scared of being scared….

Whatever it is you can’t control!

We’re going to call it your affliction…

Something so big, so deep you can’t control it...

 

Now we have the 3^rd Storm:

The Spiritual Storm

-      We can also call it a Theological Storm.

-      Because scripture goes on to say:

 

They woke up Jesus…

 

Vs 38:

 

But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

 

That’s the Spiritual Storm

Big Picture:

-      So, because of the circumstances we’re out of control, they’re emotions have gone crazy.

-      Now they question Jesus…and what He has been saying is true….

-      Let’s be honest:

There aren’t many of us that haven’t questioned God at 1 point or another.

-      Is God going to come through?

-      I don’t know  if I should be believing this anymore…

-      Because what I’m hearing on Friday Night and Sunday morning, isn’t really matching up with what I’m, feeling on Monday…

-      Jesus, you say that you’ll never leave me or forsake me.

-      But what I’m experiencing doesn’t match up

-      Now I’m not sure this is real…

 

Am I right?

 

Let’s review vs 38 again:

But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

They shook him and said, “Don’t you care?”

Where are you?

This story is also explained in Matthew 8 and Luke 8:

In the book of Matthew, it says…. “Lord Save us!

In the book of Luke, it says “Master, Master!”

And in Mark they yelled “Teacher! “

This is how much they were panicking …

 

It’s a super sad day, when the sailors call on the carpenter to get them out of the storm…

  

If you cared about me, you wouldn’t be letting me go through this affliction, this trial, this Storm in my Life! …

Don’t you care that were perishing?

This is huge Jesus; we might drown out here and die!

They just came back from Church with Jesus… they just listened to His word…

By now they know Jesus has connections with God

They know they’re going to need a divine intervention from Jesus…

That’s their only HOPE.

 

The disciples were all raised on the Old Testament:

·     They were familiar with the Psalms.

-      So, they would have known:

 

Psalm 65:5-7

             By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of the far-off seas; Who established the mountains by His strength, Being clothed with power; 7You who still the noise of the seas, The noise of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.

 

Psalms 89:9

                   You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

 

    Psalm 107:23

 

  Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters, 24They see the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep. 25For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea. 26They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; Their soul melts because of trouble. 27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end. 28Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.

 

Does Jesus care:

About:

-      My pain, finances, loneliness, my hurt, my relationship, my depression

-      Because I’m in HIS WILL and I still feel all of this…

 

Vs 39

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

-      Maybe they were thinking of:

 

Psalm 10:1

Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

 

Or

 

Psalm 44:23-24

 

Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever. 24Why do You hide Your face,

And forget our affliction and our oppression?

 

-      As soon as he says these words… the sea is like glass…

 

-      The water and the wind recognized the voice of the Creator.

Just as He would tell death to release Lazarus.

         He tells the wind and the waves to Obey HIS Will…

-      Everything is calm.

-      Except the disciples…

 

Vs 40

But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

 

They knew Jesus had power over demons.

-      Over disease

-      Over the Natural world and the Supernatural world

-      Could He save them in this circumstance?

-      Could He deliver them from this Perfect Storm?

I don’t think it entered their mind that He could stop the Storm…

 

One of the disciples could have said,

“Well, I don’t know Jesus, because we could have died…”

 

But at the very beginning Jesus told them something particularly important:

“Let us go over to the other side” …

Not let me go, or hopefully we’ll make it …

No….” Let’s go over to the other side …”

You guys were excited to get in the boat with me.

-      But when scary circumstances showed up, you forgot what I told you…

 

-      Your problems overrode my PROMISE.

 

-      They were living in the light of the PROBLEM.

-      Not the light of the PROMISE

 

God never wants you to deny your circumstance:

-      A storm is a storm, some days it’s going to pour, and we can’t deny that.

-      But God doesn’t your storm to overtake or surpass His word…

-      He definitely doesn’t want your storm to surpass HIS Presence

-      Because He’s in the boat with you …

 

So now Jesus speaks to the problem:

-      Quiet... be still.

-      The wind and the waves obey.

-      Now there’s a circumstantial change.

 

V41

1And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

-      When they saw Jesus immediately change the circumstance, they became very afraid.

-      Jesus took the disciples of a journey of discovery… to discover their faith…

 

Who can this be?

-      The Supernatural Power of Jesus is such that with a word, Millions of Horsepower of wind is halted.

-      Millions of gallons of water are stopped and made still.

-      This is the son of God, proven by his Birth, proven by His Victory over Satan

-      Proven by His Teaching

-      Proven by His Miracle Power

-      And Proven by His tremendous control of creation.

-      Yes, He can change nature, so the Lion lies down with the lamb!

-      He has the Power over His creation to change Life span so that in the Kingdom somebody who dies at a hundred, dies like an infant.

 

Adversity Reveals our Level of Faith…

·     When hardships come our way, do we respond

 “God, I trust you to bring me through this?”

-Or do we tend to say, “I’m doomed there’s nothing anybody can do! “

 

* How many times have you felt like the disciples?

* Life turns stormy and no matter what you do, it seems like you’re going to Perish

* You cry out, “Don’t you care Lord, that this is happening to me? “

* God, don’t you care enough to do something about the hardship?

* God, don’t you know how my heart is broken now that I lost my mom, my husband, my son…

 

This Christian thing doesn’t work, that’s what the disciples were saying…

 

I’m not getting victory, I’m not getting delivered…

I’m not, and I’ve tried.. I come to church…

And they want to know why… We want to know why…

 

What does His word say… We have a book here that explains who Jesus is…

 

He doesn’t just bless you for you….

-      He blesses you for His name and His Glory..

-      Your impact

-      Your Testimony

-      Your Ministry

-      You’re a part of the Miracle..

 

See we have to:

·     Allow adversity to spur your faith to action rather than into question.

·     When you do, you will find that it reveals areas in which you need to act in CONFIDENCE rather than in FEAR.

·     When challenging times come, instead of running for COVER, make a COMMITMENT to TRUST GOD…

 

 

If I’m faltering in my faith now, I have my faith built on the wrong God.

A faith that cannot be tested, is a faith that cannot be trusted…

Because real faith gets stronger through testing, not weaker …

 

 

Lección 3: Esperanza

Esta noche: Lección 3 sobre la esperanza

Principio 2:   En una forma sincera creo que Dios existe, que le intereso y que Él tiene el poder para ayudarme en mi recuperación

 .

"Bienaventurados los que lloran, porque ellos serán consolados"

Mateo 5:4

Paso 2:  Llegamos a creer que un poder más grande que nosotros puede restaurarnos a la cordura.

 

" Pues Dios es quien produce en ustedes tanto el querer como el hacer para que se cumpla su buena voluntad."

                                                      Filipenses 2:13

·      Principio 2: Creemos sinceramente que Dios existe, que yo le importo y que Él tiene el poder de ayudarme a recuperarme.

Hebreos 11:6 dice:

" En realidad, sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios, ya que cualquiera que se acerca a Dios tiene que creer que él existe y que recompensa a quienes lo buscan. ". 

 

 

 

Salmos 62:5

" Solo en Dios halla descanso mi alma; de él viene mi esperanza  ". 

 

 

 

1er Principio:

·      Admitimos que éramos impotentes

·      Es a través de la admisión de nuestra impotencia que somos capaces de creer y recibir el poder de Dios para ayudarnos a recuperarnos.

·      Pero para recibir este poder necesitamos mantener esas heridas y hábitos expuestos a la Luz, para que a través del poder de Dios puedan sanar verdaderamente...

 

2º Principio:

·      Es en el segundo principio que llegamos a creer que Dios existe, y que somos importantes para Él, y que debemos encontrar el VERDADERO poder superior, Jesucristo

·      Llegamos a comprender que Dios quiere llenar nuestras vidas con su amor, su alegría y su presencia...

 

El amor de Dios te está buscando, no importa cuán perdido te sientas.

·      El amor escrutador de Dios puede encontrarte, no importa cuántas veces hayas caído en pecado

·      Las manos misericordiosas de Dios están buscando levantarte, amarte y perdonarte

·      Aquí es donde encontramos " Esperanza"

·      Esta es la razón por la que llamamos al Principio 2 el Principio de "ESPERANZA"

 Honra el Poder Superior  –  Nuestro único y verdadero Poder Superior tiene un nombre: ¡ Jesucristo ¡.  

Romanos 11:36

^"Porque de él, por él y para él son todas las cosas. A él sea la gloria por los siglos" 

 

·      Principio 2:  Descubrirás que es una relación personal con Cristo

·      Jesús desea una relación práctica, día a día, momento a momento con nosotros.

·      Porque Él puede hacer por nosotros lo que nosotros no hemos podido hacer por nosotros mismos

·       ¡Muchas personas hoy en día creen en sus dudas y dudan de sus creencias!

·      ¿Alguna vez has visto una idea?

·      ¿Alguna vez has visto el amor o la fe?

·      No, pero has visto actos de fe y amor

Esto nos lleva a las primeras 4 palabras del 2º Paso: ¡LLEGAMOS A CREER!

Decir que llegamos a creer en cualquier cosa describe un proceso.

·      La creencia es el resultado de  la consideración, la duda, el razonamiento y la conclusión.

 

2 Corintios 12:9

pero él me dijo: Te basta con mi gracia, pues mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad.

 

La siguiente letra es la O, de OPURTUNIDAD para cambiar.  – ¿Cuál es el proceso que te lleva a una creencia sólida, que te lleva a cambiar tu vida?

Efesios 4:23-24

“ser renovados en la actitud de su mente; 24y ponerse el ropaje de la nueva naturaleza, creada a imagen de Dios, en verdadera justicia y santidad.”

Veamos de nuevo las primeras 3 palabras del paso 2

“ Llegamos a creer “  

Llegamos... "Dimos el primer paso cuando asistimos a nuestra primera reunión de recuperación, cuando atravesamos esas puertas y nos quitamos la mascarilla"

Llegamos a..." Dejamos de negar nuestras heridas, complejos y hábitos

·      Llegamos a creer..."Empezamos a creer y recibimos el poder de Dios para ayudarnos en nuestra recuperación..."

·      La esperanza es una apertura al cambio

·      Algunas veces tememos miedo al cambio, aunque nuestro pasado haya sido doloroso…

·      Nos resistimos  al cambio por miedo a lo desconocido, o en nuestra desesperación, creemos que no merecemos nada mejor…

·      Lo bueno, lo reconfortante es que tenemos un Dios que caminará a nuestro lado... todos los días, y cada segundo de ese día...

·      La esperanza abre puertas, donde la desesperación las cierra.

 La letra P para Poder para cambiar: en el pasado hemos deseado cambiar y no fuimos capaces de hacer tal cosa

·      No pedimos liberarnos a nosotros mismos de nuestra heridas, complejos o hábitos

Filipenses 4:13

"Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece..."

·      ¿A través de quién?

·      No yo, no tú, sino a través de Cristo...

·      Para que esta escritura sea válida, y es válida...

·      Debemos rendir nuestro corazón a Cristo, para que Él pueda obrar a través de nosotros..

·      Debemos poner nuestra vida a los pies de la cruz...

·      Los pies de la cruz... y mira hacia arriba... mira al hijo de Dios que está colgado en esa cruz por tus pecados, mis pecados... así podemos reflexionar por lo que EL pasó...

·       NO se trata solo de decir una pequeña oración en tu mente para comprar un seguro contra incendios... Se trata de un compromiso de  cambiar nuestro vidas...

·      Se trata de creer que Jesús murió por mí, y ahora debo morir diariamente por Él, y vivir para Él.

·      Se trata de morir a ti mismo, a tus deseos egoístas, deseos, adicciones, y vivir para el único y VERDADERO poder Superior... Jesucristo...

·      Poner a Jesús en primer lugar en tu vida...

Entonces Filipenses 4:13 se vuelve real, porque entonces usted será capaz de hacer todas las cosas... POR MEDIO de Cristo que te fortalece...

·      El poder del cambio viene a través de la gracia de Dios...

 

·      Gracia: obtener lo que no mereces..

 

·      Ver en  el Principio 2: comenzamos a entender que el poder de Dios puede cambiarnos a nosotros y a nuestra situación.

L letra E  Esperar el cambio

^{Filipenses 1:6 (NTV)}

 ^"Estoy seguro de que Dios, que comenzó la buena obra dentro de ti, seguirá ayudándote a crecer en gracia hasta que la tarea dentro de ti finalmente esté terminada, en ese día en que Jesucristo regrese".

·      No puedes hacer nada a menos que comiences, entonces, ¿cuánta fe necesitas para comenzar?

Mateo 17:20 nos dice:

 Él les dijo: "Por la poca fe de ustedes. Porque en verdad os digo que si tuvierais fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis a este monte: 'Muévete de aquí para allá', y se moverá, y nada te será imposible".

·      Es reconfortante saber que no se necesita una gran cantidad de fe para comenzar el proceso de recuperación.

·      Pero sí necesitas una gran cantidad de Jesús...Debemos llegar a conocer a nuestro consejero, y ÉL necesita conocernos a nosotros... Todos nosotros...

·      Él ya te conoce, pero quiere que vengas con un CORAZÓN abierto y digas: Señor, esto es lo que soy... esto es con lo que más batallo, esto es lo que temo...

 

 

 

 

Jesús nos cuenta la historia del hijo pródigo, nos pone un espejo

·      Al principio, cuando leemos la historia, decimos: Sí, conozco a gente así, y de repente nos damos cuenta de que soy yo. Jesús cuenta una historia, que se convierte en nuestra historia.

 

Si usted tiene sus Biblias, por favor diríjase a: Lucas 15 11-16

. Un hombre tenía dos hijos —continuó Jesús—. 12El menor de ellos dijo a su padre: “Papá, dame lo que me toca de la herencia”. Así que el padre repartió sus bienes entre los dos. 13Poco después el hijo menor juntó todo lo que tenía y se fue a un país lejano; allí vivió desenfrenadamente y derrochó su herencia.

14 »Cuando ya lo había gastado todo, sobrevino una gran escasez en la región y él comenzó a pasar necesidad. 15Así que fue y consiguió empleo con un ciudadano de aquel país, quien lo mandó a sus campos a cuidar cerdos. 16Tanta hambre tenía que hubiera querido llenarse el estómago con la comida que daban a los cerdos, pero aun así nadie le daba nada.

 

·      En el mundo judío y árabe no hay precedentes de que un padre divida sus bienes con sus hijos antes de su muerte

·      Por eso, cuando el hijo exige: "Padre, dame mi parte de la herencia", en esencia está diciendo: "Padre, te quiero muerto para poder recibir lo que me corresponde"

·      Ante tal insulto,  la expectativa cultural habría sido que  el padre afirmara su autoridady defendiera el honor de la familia golpeando al hijo hasta la sumisión y luego desheredándolo. 

·      Pero, ¿qué hace el padre? Dividió sus bienes entre ambos hermanos.

 

·      Ver esto en sí mismo, no fue una tarea fácil:

·      Dividir equitativamente su herencia

·      Lo más probable es que haya tenido que vender:

·      Propiedades

·      Ganado

·      Criados

·      Posiblemente cobrar deudas

·      Esto no fue algo que se hizo de la noche a la mañana...

·      Probablemente le tomó unos días o semanas 

 

·      Pero  el padre elige seguir siendo el padre del joven, aunque el hijo ya no quiera ser su hijo...

·     Todo esto con el fin de mantener la puerta abierta para el posible regreso del hijo, el padre elige soportar el dolor del rechazo.

·      El Padre tiene ESPERANZA...

 

¿Qué significa la palabra hijo pródigo?

Pródigo-

gastar dinero o recursos libre e imprudentemente; derrochador extravagante

Una persona que gasta dinero de una manera imprudentemente extravagante:

Lucas 15:14 nos dice esto

“Cuando ya lo había gastado todo, sobrevino una gran escasez en la región y él comenzó a pasar necesidad."

 

·      No solo está en bancarrota... pero una gran hambruna se levantó en aquella tierra...

·      Y ahora tiene que hacer lo impensable...

 

Versículos 15-16 los dice:

 

" Así que fue y consiguió empleo con un ciudadano de aquel país, quien lo mandó a sus campos a cuidar cerdos. 16Tanta hambre tenía que hubiera querido llenarse el estómago con la comida que daban a los cerdos, pero aun así nadie le daba nada "

 

·      De tener bolsillos profundos, ahora está rodando con los cerdos, e incluso la comida de los cerdos se ve bien ...

·      ¿ a que empezar a reflexionar en nuestras vidas?

·      V17 la  frase, "Volvió en sí", la forma hebrea de decir, se arrepintió. Ahora se acuerda de su familia, de su padre, de su cama caliente, de la comida de verdad que comían en casa..

·      Pero, ¿está pensando en regresar porque  se siente mal por lo que ha hecho, o porque ya no tiene ningún cinco y con mucha hambre?

·      Fin de V17 ..."Me muero de hambre" 

·     Parece que solo cuando el dolor aumenta a un nivel intolerablefinalmente estamos motivados para cambiar.

·      Es entonces cuando comenzamos nuestro caminar hacia el padre, porque la forma en que estamos viviendo actualmente no está funcionando.

 

·      Pongámonos ahora en esta historia... ¿Cuándo es que buscas a Jesús? ¿En tu mejor momento o en tu peor momento?

 

Lucas 15:18-19

"Me levantaré e iré a mi padre, y diré: Padre, he pecado contra el cielo y contra ti..."

"Y ya no soy digno de ser llamado hijo tuyo. Hazme como a uno de tus jornaleros" ( Trabajador )

 

·      Cultura de Medio Oriente 2 tipos de Sirvientes:

·      Esclavos domésticos : residentes permanentes en la casa del padre... vivían bien.

·      Sirvientes a sueldo, jornaleros, sin seguridad ni longevidad, pero su padre tenía "comida de sobra", así que también comían bien

 

¿Cuál podría ser la reacción del padre ante el regreso de su hijo?

·      Como líder del clan, se esperaba que humillara a su hijo a frente de todos

·      Cuando el hijo llegó a la casa y los sirvientes anunciaron su llegada, el padre pudo haberles dicho: "¿Qué hijo? No tengo un hijo; Está muerto para mí y para mi familia. "

·      En cambio, ¿qué hace el padre?

 

·      V20 "Pero cuando aún estaba lejos, su padre lo vio y se compadeció de él;

 

·      En este punto, cuando el hijo ve a su padre, se está preparando para la humillación pública...Está pensando lo peor... Está pensando que mi padre me va  a pegar, que me va a negar, que no soy su hijo...

 

·      ¿Cuántas veces nos hemos sentido así?

¿Cuántas veces hemos sentido que Dios nos va a negar por nuestra vida pecaminosa...?

·      pero en cambio, recibe lo impensable...

 

·      Las Escrituras dicen que   "corrió hacia su hijo, lo abrazó y lo besó"

·      Su padre tuvo compasión por su hijo...

 

·      La  palabra compasión viene con una palabra asociada con las tripas o las entrañas.

·      La compasión denota una reacción visceral, un sentimiento profundo que se aferra al estómago.

·      Compasión significa  "sufrir con"

 La reacción del padre... iba a acompañar a su hijo dolorido

·      Jesús nos está contando una historia; Esta es nuestra historia...

 

·      Imagínate al padre de rodillas, con el corazón destrozado, orando a Dios, noche tras noche, para que un día su hijo regrese a casa...

 

·      No solo  el padre tuvo compasión por su hijo, sino que el padre también se había estado preparando para ser humillado frente al pueblo...para que su hijo no tuviera que ser...

 

·      En el Medio Oriente, un hombre con años maduros debe caminar siempre de una manera lenta y digna, esta es una forma de imponer respeto y proyectar el honor merecido.

·      Era muy indigno que un hombre corriera en público

 

·      Pero, ¿qué hace el padre?

 

·      El padre corrió lo más rápido que pudo, para alcanzar a su hijo... Las lágrimas corrían por sus ojos, el corazón salía de su pecho...

 

 

·     Le está gritando al mundo... "Mi Hijo , mi Hijo ha vuelto a casa"

 

·      Para que el padre corriera de esta manera , tendría que levantarse la túnica, exponer su ropa interior y correr por el camino.

·      Esto en sí mismo sería un acto vergonzoso y humillante

 

·      El padre alcanza a  su hijo antes que los niños de la aldea, sus sirvientes o los ancianos de la aldea, y se  coloca entre su hijo y el mundo entero, de modo que la vergüenza que se amontonaría sobre su hijo, se derrama sobre él...

 

·      A que enfocarnos en eso por un momento... Deja que eso se absorba...

 

El Padre entonces se dedicó a restaurar la relación rota con su  hijo:

El Padre les dio sus siervos varias órdenes:

Traer la mejor túnica: estaba reservada para un dignatario honrado, para tratar al hijo con respeto.

Ponle un  anillo en el dedo: el anillo de sello familiar, restaurando una posición de autoridad.

Sandalias: los esclavos iban descalzos, su hijo llevaba sandalias.

El ternero cebado: La carne era una delicadez , un animal alimentado con granos para que todo el pueblo viniera a comer y celebrar.

 

Del mismo modo, cuando aceptamos a Jesús como nuestro Señor y Salvador, nuestra relación con Él se restaura por completo y se nos da "el Espíritu Santo de la promesa, que es la garantía de nuestra herencia"...

 

Ahora hablemos de los tipos de hermanos que tenemos:

2 tipos de Hermanos Aquí:

 

Los hermanos menores  son los que son aventureros y arriesgados. Desconfían de las instituciones (como el gobierno y la religión), se sacuden las restricciones y desean experimentar todo lo que la vida tiene para ofrecer. Cuando pecan, pecan grandes  y todos lo saben.

Los hermanos  mayores son los que guardan las reglas y complacen a la gente que tienen trabajos estables y predecibles, tienen valores tradicionales y no son muy riesgos. Muchos fieles que asisten a la iglesia son hermanos mayores que tienden a ver a su tipo como "bueno" y al otro tipo como "malo".

 Estas son algunas características del hermano mayor de la  parábola y cómo podemos asegurarnos de no caer en la trampa del orgullo,  la ira, el resentimiento y  la indignación.

El hijo mayor estaba furioso:

·     Pensó que debido a que obedecía las reglas, merecía bendiciones

·     Su motivo era recibir, no mostrar amor a su padre.

·     Pensó que la pecaminosidad de su hermano era imperdonable.

·     Le molestaba la alegría de su padre y se negaba a compartirla

·     Se considera a sí mismo como un esclavo de su padre

·     Pero recordemos que el padre había renunciado a todos los derechos sobre su propia propiedad.

·     ¿El hermano mayor era dueño de la mitad de todo y todavía se queja?

Lucas 15:28-32

"Pero él estaba enojado y no quiso entrar. Entonces el padre salió y le suplicó"

Y respondiendo él, dijo a su padre: He aquí todos estos años que te sirvo; nunca he transgredido tu mandamiento, y sin embargo nunca me diste un cabrito para que me regocijara con mis amigos.

"Pero cuando vino este hijo tuyo, que ha devorado tu sustento con rameras, le mataste el becerro cebado".

"Y él le dijo: Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todo lo que tengo es tuyo".

El hijo mayor está investido de su propia justicia.

Está bajo la falsa idea de que sus obras y buenas obras de alguna manera lo elevan a un nivel superior.

·      "Era justo que nos alegráramos y nos alegráramos, porque tu hermano estaba muerto y está vivo de nuevo, y se perdió y fue encontrado..."

El padre estaba mostrando compasión y demostrando Misericordia...

·      Cuando pedimos o tomamos nuestra herencia terrenal, y hacemos decisiones basándonos de nuestra voluntad, Dios los da esa oportunidad...

·      Dios se aparta de nuestro camino egoísta y nos dice adelante...

Ahora... piensa en las noches desconsoladas en las que Dios nos espera...espera que volvamos...Esperar pacientemente mientras vivimos nuestra vida pecaminosa, pecado sobre pecado...

Como cristianos, nuestros corazones deben ser quebrantados por las cosas que rompen el corazón de Dios...

Y también deben llenarse de gozo por las cosas que le traen gozo a él.

Tírate de rodillas

Pasa más tiempo con Dios

 

 

 Tú sabes las cosas que traen gozo al corazón de Dios...

·      Hacer que sea una prioridad pasar tiempo con ÉL

·      Oración con El todos los días

·      Leer la Biblia todos los días

·      Ir a la Iglesia cada domingo  

·      Dar servicio

 

Sabemos las cosas que rompen el corazón de Dios...

·      estas pensando en esas cosas en este momento...

·      y sé que Dios está te esta tironeando tu corazón en este momento...

·       porque Él está tironeando el mío..

·      ¿Cuál es tu vacío?

 

¿Cuándo vas a volver a casa? ¿Qué esperas para perder? ¿Cuánto más tienes que perder?

¿Cuántas veces lo vamos a negar?

Jesús desea y espera que tengamos una relación con ÉL

·     Cuando terminamos de vivir nuestras vidas para nosotros y estamos arruinados, adictos o lo hemos perdido todo, es cuando regresamos a Jesús.

Y Jesús todavía nos espera... con los brazos abiertos...y manos cicatrizadas,  pero vean, Él nos está esperando en la cruz, en la cruz donde Uds. y yo lo pusimos. 

Su humillación pública fue la cruz...

·      Jesús se interpone entre nosotros y el mundo, para que la vergüenza que se amontonaría sobre nosotros, se derrame sobre él...

Romanos 6:23 dice:

"Porque la paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro."

La Vida Eterna no comienza con la muerte... comienza con la Fe...

Permítanme terminar con esto...

Debido a la muerte y resurrección de Cristo, tenemos Su poder en nosotros para vivir Su visión del amor en nuestras relaciones, nuestras amistades y, lo que es más importante, nuestros matrimonios. En medio de las pruebas y los tiempos difíciles, cuando piensas que no hay esperanza, recuerda que Cristo hace posible lo imposible. Míralo a Él y sigue Sus caminos...

 

En pocas palabras, mi vida sin Cristo es un final sin esperanza...

Con Él hay una Esperanza sin fin...

 

¿Sabes cuál es la diferencia entre la Misericordia y la Gracia ?

La misericordia le dio al hijo pródigo una segunda oportunidad... Gracia le dio su fiesta...

Lección 1 Negación

 

Principio 1: Date cuenta de que no soy Dios. Admito que soy incapaz de controlar mi tendencia a hacer lo incorrecto y que mi vida es inmanejable.

"Bienaventurados los que saben que son pobres espiritualmente"

                                                                                                   Mateo 5:3

Paso 1: Admitimos que éramos impotentes ante nuestras adicciones y comportamientos compulsivos y que nuestras vidas se habían vuelto inmanejables.

Yo sé que en mí, es decir, en mi carne, nada bueno habita. Aunque deseo hacer lo bueno, no soy capaz de hacerlo…

                                                      Romanos 7:18

Introducción: Esta noche comenzamos un viaje juntos:

·      El camino hacia la RECUPERACIÓN

·      El viaje comienza con el Principio 1

·      Donde admitimos que somos impotentes para controlar nuestra tendencia a hacer lo incorrecto y que nuestras vidas se han vuelto inmanejables, fuera de control.

 

·      Negación – 2 cosas

1)   Es la idea de que no tengo ningún problema serio

2)   Idea de que  cualquier problema que tenga, puedo lidiar con él... No necesito ayuda... o lo que la gente dice hoy...    "CR no es para mí, yo puede liriar con mis problemas, estoy bien...

·      Ambos Conceptos constituyen Negación

 

·      Desafortunadamente, no están de acuerdo con la realidad

·      La realidad es que TODOS tenemos problemas...

 

·     Pero antes de empezar... Tenemos que hacernos estas dos preguntas:

1)   ¿Voy a dejar que mis fracasos pasados me impidan este viaje?

2)   ¿Tengo miedo de cambiar? ¿O cuáles son mis temores acerca del futuro?

 

·      Demos una mirada a Hebreos 12:1

 

Por tanto, también nosotros que estamos rodeados de una nube tan grande de testigos, despojémonos de todo peso y del pecado que nos asedia y corramos con perseverancia la carrera que tenemos por delante....

 

Hebreos 12:1

 

Dos cosas necesito señalar en este versículo:

Primero :

1)  Dios tiene una carrera en particular, un plan único para cada uno de nosotros.

Un plan para el bien, no una vida llena de dependencias, adicciones y obsesiones

 

La segunda:

2)  Necesitamos estar dispuestos a deshacernos de todo esa carga innecesaria, los fracasos pasados, en nuestras vidas que nos detienen.

 

·      De nuevo dice: "Despojémonos de todo lo que nos frena o nos detiene...

·      Para muuchos de nosotros, nuestras heridas pasadas, los problemas y los hábitos nos estorban, nos hunden

·      Muchos estamos atascados en amarguras por lo que alguien nos ha hecho.

·      Nos seguimos sintiendo heridos y rehusamos perdonar a los que nos han herido

 

Tal vez a usted lo hirieron profundamente

 

Algunos de ustedes quizás estén atados a la culpa

Siguen culpándose por los errores del pasado

Esta atrapado, atascado en culpa

 

Sienten que no allan la puerta…

 

Pero esta noche, le asegura, que cualquier dolor, pecado, fracaso, que ha pasado…Si ai libertad con Dios Nuestro Señor…

 

El conoce todo lo que ha hecho y todo lo que ha experimentado.

 

Abemos unos esta noche que emos experimentado fracasos similares y heridas en nuestra vidas y emos aceptado el perdón de Cristo… Estamos aquí para animarlo y ayudarlos..

NUETRALIZA nuestros sentimientos:

Esconder nuestros sentimientos, vivir en negación, paraliza nuestras emociones y ata nuestras vidas. Entender nuestro sentimientos y vivirlos hace que experimentemos LIBERTAD.

 

Prometiéndoles la libertad mientras ellos mismos son esclavos de la corrupción; porque por lo que el hombre es vencido, por esto es esclavizado...

                                             2 Pedro 2:19

·      Esconder nuestros sentimientos, vivir en NEGACIÓN,

·      paraliza nuestra emociones y ata nuestra vidas

·      Entendiendo y sintiendo nuestros sentimientos es donde encontramos La Libertad

·      La prueba básica de la libertad no es lo que soy libre de hacer, es lo que soy libre de no hacer... Soy libre de no tomar ese trago, drogarme, guardar rencor, etc.

·      Encontramos la libertad de sentir nuestros verdaderos sentimientos cuando encontramos a Cristo y salimos de La NEGACIÓN

 

Energía perdida : las personas en NEGACIÓN desperdician mucha energía tratando de resolver sus propios problemas.

"Bienaventurados los que saben que son pobres espiritualmente"

Mateo 5:3

 

" El Señor hace justicia a los oprimidos, da de comer a los hambrientos y pone en libertad a los cautivos. El Señor da vista a los ciegos, el Señor levanta a los agobiados, el Señor ama a los justos.

 

Salmos 146:7-8

·      Un efecto secundario importante de la negación es la Ansiedad

·      La Ansiedad hace que desperdiciemos energía preciosa lidiando con las heridas del pasado, los fracasos y el miedo al futuro...

·      A medida que avanzamos en este programa, aprendemos que es solo en el presente que puede ocurrir un cambio positivo...

·      Preocuparnos por el pasado y temer el futuro nos hace incapaces de vivir y disfrutar de los planes de Dios para nosotros

·      Cuando nos preocupamos y tenemos ansiedad, nos paraliza, la única forma en que podemos vencer nuestros miedos, es poniéndolos a los pies de nuestro Señor, Jesucristo...

·       Salmo 146:7 dice... " El Señor da vista a los ciegos, el Señor levanta a los agobiados, el Señor ama a los justos…

·      Creo que todos sabemos lo que es ese sentimiento de ser prisionero del pecado...

·      Si usted transfiere la energía requerida para mantener su negación en aprender la verdad de Dios, un amor sano hacia otros y hacia usted mismo ocurría en su vida. En tanto que usted dependa mas y mas de Jesus Cristo, vera la luz de la verdad y la realidad.

 

 

GENERA  Angustia  

·     Permitimos que nuestros temores y nuestras preocupaciones nos paralicen

·     La única forma de liberarnos de estos es entregárselos a Dios

 

Salmos 146: 6-7

que hizo el cielo y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos y que siempre mantiene la verdad. El Señor hace justicia a los oprimidos, da de comer a los hambrientos y pone en libertad a los cautivos.

 

   La NEGACIÓN ANULA el crecimiento... 

Viejo dicho en la Recuperación:

"Estamos tan enfermos como nuestros secretos"

·     No podemos crecer en recuperación hasta que estemos listos para salir de nuestra negación hacia la verdad

·     Dios esta esperando tomar su mano y empezar a romper las cadenas…

 

En su angustia clamaron al Señor y él los salvó de sus aflicciones. Los sacó de las más densas tinieblas y rompió en pedazos sus cadenas.

 

Salmos 107:13-14

·     Mientras viaja por el camino de su recuperación entendera que Dios nunca desaprovecha una herida

·     Dios nunca desperdicia las sombras de sus problemas

·     Pero el no puede usarlo a menos que usted salga de su negación hacia la luz

 

La letra C indica como la Negacion CREA barreras con las cuales impedimos a Dios actuar en nuestra vida  

·      La NEGACIÓN

·      Creemos que nadie sabe, pero lo saben

·      La NEGACIÓN puede protegernos del daño, pero ¿hasta qué punto?

·      Nos aleja ayudándonos a nosotros mismos, o ayudando a los que amamos

·      No queremos que la gente conozca el verdadero quien Soy…

·      Nosotros, escondemos nuestros secretos, cueste lo que cueste.. o no ¿

·      Por lo tanto, nos aislamos, debemos protegernos, minimizamos el riesgo de exposición y posible rechazo a los demás...

·      Pero, ¿a qué costo nos estamos aislando?

·      Al fin,hasta la  pérdida de relaciones importantes

·      Por que, al fin, no queremos qu sepan, quien soy…

·      Quien deveras soy…

 

Por lo tanto, dejando la mentira, hable cada uno a su prójimo con la verdad, porque todos somos miembros de un mismo cuerpo

                                    Efesios 4:25

 

 

Esto los lleva a la letra I: La negación INTERRUMPE nuestra comunión con Dios

·      Se trata de cómo mantener la comunión con Dios.

·      Adan y Eva son un excelente ejemplo de como los secretos y la negación no separan de la verdadera comunión con Dios

·      Dispues que pecaron, su secreto los separo de Dios

 

Genesis 3:7

En ese momento los ojos de ambos fueron abiertos y tomaron conciencia de su desnudez. Por eso, para cubrirse entretejieron hojas de higuera.

 

·      Por su puesto, Adan trato de razonar:

 

Él respondió:

—La mujer que me diste por compañera me dio de ese fruto y yo lo comí.

 

Genesis 3:12

 

·     Recuerde, la luz de Dios brilla en la verda

·     Nuestra negacionnos mantiene en la oscurudidad

 

Este es el mensaje que hemos oído de él y os anunciamos: que Dios es luz, y en él no hay tinieblas en absoluto.

Si decimos que tenemos comunión con él mientras caminamos en tinieblas, mentimos y no practicamos la verdad.

Pero si andamos en la luz, como él está en la luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de Jesús, su Hijo, nos limpia de todo pecado...

                                             1 Juan 1:5-7

 

La Negación no solamente nos separa de Dios; también OBSTACULIZAnuestra relación con amigos y seres queridos.

·      La negación nos hace pensar que nadie se dará cuenta de lo que sucede.

·      Pensamos que nadie sabe… Pero lo saben

·      Mientras que la negación puede “ protegernos “

-       De la heridas, también provoca que no nos ayudemos a nosotros mismos o a la gente que amamos

-       No nos atrevemos a revelar nuestra propias verdades a otros por el temor de lo que pensarían o dirían si conocieran nuestro verdadero yo,

-       Debemos de proteger “ nuestro secretos “ a cualquier costo.

-       Pero a que precio ¿

-       La perdida eventual de todas nuestras relaciones importantes ¿

 

Finalmente, la negación NOS PROLONGA el DOLOR

·     Tenemos la falsa creencia de que la NEGACIÓN nos protege de nuestro dolor

·     La realidad, la NEGACIÓN permite que nuestro dolor se infecte y crezca y se convierta en vergüenza y culpa

·     La NEGACIÓN extiende el Dolor

·     Y Multiplica los problemas

·     La Verdad, como la cirugía puede doler un tiempo, pero cura

·     Dios los da una promesa muy grande:

 

Porque yo restauraré tu salud y sanaré tus heridas”, afirma el Señor, “porque te han llamado la desechada, la pobre Sión, la que a nadie le importa”.

                                           Jeremias 30:17

         El gran medico es capaz de sanar la herida de su pueblo

         Aquel, que es lento para la ira y abundante en amor, puede perdonar la cupla y el pecado….

 

 

 

Miedos a salir de la NEGACIÓN:

•¿Quién soy?

•¿Qué soy yo? ¿La gente me aceptará por lo que realmente soy?

• ¿Cómo ha tratado Dios de llamar tu atención?

• ¿Cómo ha tratado un miembro de tu familia, un hermano o hermana en Cristo de llamar tu atención?

• ¿DUI? ¿Tiempo en prisión? ¿Sobredosis? ¿Pérdida de un trabajo? ¿Pérdida de una relación?

• ¿Cómo sigue Dios tratando de llamar nuestra atención?

• Seamos realistas por un momento... en tu propio corazón ahora mismo, ¿con qué cosas sigues luchando?

 

Para llegar a ser más como Jesús:

Debemos dejar que Dios nos abra.

Explora nuestros corazones, pruébanos, conoce nuestros pensamientos.

Y luego cambiarnos desde adentro…

El apóstol Pablo...

·      Vuelvo a usar el ejemplo del apóstol Pablo, porque me recuerda a mí mismo.

·      Creo que todos podemos identificarnos con él precristiano...

·       ¿Podemos relacionarnos con él después de que salga de la NEGACIÓN y se convierta en Salvo?

 

Gálatas :13-14

"  Ustedes ya están enterados de mi conducta( el Apóstol Pablo )  cuando pertenecía al judaísmo, de la furia con que perseguía a la iglesia de Dios, tratando de destruirla. 14En la práctica del judaísmo, yo aventajaba a muchos de mis contemporáneos en mi celo exagerado por las tradiciones de mis antepasados. ".

 

Necesito CR porque soy un pecador...

Todos hemos roto los 10 mandamientos en nuestros corazones... todos ellos...

1.    No tendréis dioses ajenos delante de mí. ( ¿Realmente hemos caminado con Dios?)

2.    No harás ídolos. ( Dinero )

3.    No tomarás el nombre del Señor tu Dios en vano. ( maldiciendo )

4.    Santifica el día de reposo. ( trabajando )

5.    Honra a tu padre y a tu madre. ( siempre lo hemos hecho ? )

6.    No matarás. ( deseando que alguien muera en nuestros corazones )

7.    No cometerás adulterio. ( incluso ninguno físico en nuestra mente, corazones )

8.    No robarás. (Impuestos, venta o compra de un coche, literalmente)

9.    No darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo. (echarle la culpa a un compañero de trabajo, etc.)

10.    No codiciarás.  ( el coche de tus vecinos, los juguetes, la casa )

 

No es en el pasado en lo que Dios se enfoca... Es el futuro... 

 

 

·      Si tomas la cruz de Jesucristo, el instrumento de la muerte, entonces necesitas morir a ti mismo...

·      Nadie puede tomar la cruz de Jesucristo y simplemente arrastrarla.

·      Y cuando Uds. toman esa cruz, Uds. deben recordar que, esa cruz es la cruz que los redimió...

·      La sangre de Jesucristo nos limpia a ti y a mí de todo pecado...

·      Él es el único, el único que puede cambiar nuestras vidas plena y completamente.

·      No podemos avergonzar o arruinar nuestra reputación ante el Señor...

 

 

" Ahora, ponte en pie. Me he aparecido a ti con el fin de designarte siervo y testigo de lo que has visto de mí y de lo que te voy a revelar. 17Te libraré de tu propio pueblo y de los no judíos. Te envío a ellos 18para que les abras los ojos y se conviertan de las tinieblas a la luz y del poder de Satanás a Dios, a fin de que, por la fe en mí, reciban el perdón de los pecados y la herencia entre los santificados”

Hechos 26:16-18

 

·    El enemigo sabe que sin rendirse, nunca experimentaremos la libertad que Dios nos ofrece.

·    Si no nos rendimos, permaneceremos espiritualmente desnutridos, enfermos y confundidos.

·     Si no nos rendimos, nuestras trincheras se convierten en prisiones creadas por el enemigo.

·    Nuestra falta de entrega total limita la capacidad de Dios para obrar en nuestras vidas y a través de ellas.

Resumen:

·      Cuando estés listo para salir de la NEGACIÓN, el Señor está esperando para romper esas cadenas...

·      Mientras caminas hacia Él, y las cadenas se te caen, Él espera con los brazos abiertos...

·      Y con sicatrisez en sus manos

·      La pregunta no es, ¿me aceptará Él por lo que soy y me sostendrá en Sus brazos y por cuánto tiempo?

·      La verdadera pregunta es... ¿Cuánto tiempo y con qué fuerza me aferraré a Él?

Then they cried to the Lord in their troubles, and he rescued them! He led them from the darkness and shadow of death and snapped their chains. (Psalm 107:13–14 LB)

Isolates us from                                                                                                 

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light,as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Alienates us from                                                                                              

Stop lying to each other; tell the truth, for we are parts of each other and when we lie to each other we are hurting ourselves. (Ephesians 4:25 LB)

God’s promise: I will give you back your health again and heal your wounds. (Jeremiah 30:17a LB)

Healing for the Surrendered - 2 Kings 5:1-19

 

I’m having one of those weeks…But…I don’t have to drink over it…

 

Step 1 – Unmanageability restrains us from getting ahead of God, renews us in our knowledge of God, and reminds us to trust in Jesus for our future and hope.

 

Step 2 – Power greater than you in praising God, in our incorruptible inheritance in heaven, in the sustaining power of God through trials, and in the forgiving/cleansing power of the Blood of Jesus Christ.

 

Step 3:  We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.  Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. (Rom 12:1)

 

Often we ask; How do you turn your life and will over to Jesus Christ?  But tonight I want to ask why?  And probably more specifically, “Why have you forgotten?”

 

Psalm 23:1-4 (NKJV) “¹The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  ²He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.  ³He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  ⁴Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me…”

 

Recovery emerges from a shadowed valley.  It’s called the “moment of clarity,” “the epiphany,” or “the point of surrender.” 

 

Regardless of the name, it is my opinion, that if you can not put your finger on the exact moment in time that you decide to believe, then there are more of the same valley’s to come to remind us of a lesson we already learned.  My prayer is, “Lord let me learn this lesson…the first time.”  Relapse is never pretty.

 

Let me tell you about my wife’s story.

 

Critical illness is destroying her body.  She did feel alone.  Who else has known the pain like this?  She got to a point of surrender after she processed what was going on.

 

She felt:

Denial (This can’t be happening to me.)

Anger (Why me, Lord?)

Depression (There is no hope.)

Bargaining (Lord, get me out of this and I’ll do whatever You say.)

Surrender (May God’s will be done.)

 

At some point we all need to surrender to God’s will for our lives.

 

What is it in your life?  High blood pressure? Heart disease? Kidney failure? Alzheimer? MS? Alcoholism?  Addiction?  Or…cancer?  Cholangiocarcinoma.

 

My wife’s story of the valley of the shadow, from a husband’s perspective.

 

Hand on chest…remember you surrendered your alcoholism to God and He healed you too. 

 

Are you or were you sick and tired of being sick and tired?  Is your surrender point etched in your mind?  I often tell newcomers to take a mental picture nail it to the inside of your forehead and never forget it.  You tend to forget as the time moves you away from the pain.  Time can cause long-timers to be come complacent, that is why newcomers are the lifeblood of CR.  Tonight’s text has a bunch of recovery themes we will touch on, but pay attention to the end and see if you get the same feeling I do.

 

READ 2 Kings 5:1-19

 

The Books of Kings contain much historical material, yet the historical is not their primary purpose. What in our English Bibles pass for historical books are in the Hebrew Canon prophetic books, the Books of Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 2 Kings being classed as the "Earlier Prophets."

 

The chief aim of these books is didactic, the imparting of great moral lessons backed up by well-known illustrations from the nation’s history and from the lives of its heroes and leaders.

 

God’s Amazing Grace

 

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

 

If the Lord took my sins into account, I would not be able to stand before the Lord.

“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.”

 

1 Timothy 1:13-15

 

 

What is Grace?

·      Undeserved Favor

·      Something that is freely given.

·      Grace- getting what you don’t deserve.

 

 

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

 

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

 

 

 

Let’s look at today’s acrostic:  GRACE

 

God’s gift

Received by our faith.

Accepted by God’s love. 

Christ paid the price.

Everlasting gift

 

The G in GRACE is God’s gift – Grace is a gift. Grace cannot be bought. It is freely given by God to you and me. When we offer (give) our amends and expect nothing back, that’s a gift from us to whom we have hurt. 

 

·      If my relationship with God was dependent on my being perfect, I would have trouble relating to God most of the time.

·      Thank God that my relationship with Him, its built on His grace and love for me.

 

And how do we receive God’s gift of GRACE?

 

That’s the R in GRACE: Received by our Faith.

 

·      No matter how hard we may work, we cannot earn our way into heaven.

·      But I’m a good person.

·      I give money to charities.

·      I do this, I do that…

·      I, I, I

 

Isaiah 64:6

      But we are all like an unclean thing And all our righteousness’s are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

 

·      Only by professing our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, can we experience His GRACE and have eternal life.

 

Ephesians 2:8-9

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

 

You and I tend to be more interested in what we do…God is more interested in what we are…

 

·      Just a word of warning: Our walk needs to match our talk.

·      Our beliefs and values are seen by others in our actions.

 

 

The next letter in GRACE is A:

We are ACCEPTED by God’s love.

·      God loved you and me while we were still out there sinning…

·      While we were living a life of debauchery, drunkenness, drugs, lying, stealing, cheating.

·      Close your eyes for a bit…

-       Think about your past life.

-       Think about your past sins…

·      Now think about the sins you’re battling with right now.

·      Now picture Jesus, looking down from the cross with arms wide open…

·      Now, listen closely…. a soft whisper from Jesus

·      I love you…I forgive you; Father, please forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…

·      Think about that… Wrap you head around that or a bit…

·      God so loved the world…He put his son on the cross for you and me.

·      When is the last time you repented to God and wept?

·      Most of the time, we are more worried about what our brothers and sisters will think about our sin, rather than what God thinks about us.

·      God sees and hears it all…but were more worried about what our Pastors think about us…

A Prayer of Repentance

1Have mercy upon me, O God,

According to Your lovingkindness;

According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,

Blot out my transgressions.

2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

 

 

·      God has Forgiven you and I …

·      God’s Grace…

·      I don’t know about you, but I know that I don’t deserve God’s love.

 

“I have given God countless reasons not to love me, none of them have been strong enough to change Him…”

 

·      But the good news is He accepts me despite myself.

·      He sees all my failures and loves me anyway.

·      And the same goes for you.

·      No matter what you’re going through right now… No matter the depth of your struggle, the depth of your sin…. God loves you and He waits for you with open arms and scard hands…

1 Timothy 1:13-15

 

“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.”

 

May I never forget that God saved someone like me

May I never forget that God has allowed me to see another day

May I never forget and get over the fact that He’s patient with me and walks through the fire with me …

He has met me in the darkest part of my life, and He has never left me...

And in me, there is nothing that can satisfy Him.

Brokenness…

 

“May I never get over being broken over my sin… May I never, ever stop realizing the incredible distance between me and my Jesus, because that’s the only way, I appreciate the distance He traveled to make me his child…”

 

Brokenness is not just for you to feel bad; brokenness is to get you in the place where you understand the magnitude of God’s Grace and Mercy…

 

The shortest Verse in the Bible…

 

Jesus Wept…

 

Only 3 times did Jesus’ weep…

 

1)  He wept at the grave of Lazarus..

-       Why did He let him die?

-       He let him die, because He wanted everyone to experience the Resurrection…

-       Because once you experience Resurrection, you have a personal experience with God….

-       God let Lazarus die, because He wanted them to see the Resurrection.

-       Has God wanted you to experience a Resurrection?

-       Loss of a marriage, loss of a child?

-       This may have happened to you; you may be going through it right now…

-       He may want you to experience Resurrection.

-       If you believe you would see the glory of God.

-       What stone do you God to move?

 

-       Grace- getting what you don’t’ deserve.

 

2)  He wept at Gethsemane the night before Calvary.

 

Matthew 26:39

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

-        

-      What was in the cup?

 

This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take from my hand this cup filled with the wine of my wrath and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it. 16When they drink it, they will stagger and go mad because of the sword I will send among them.”

                                                                                                              Jeremiah 25:15-16

 

-       The wrath of the almighty God against you was in the cup.

-       The wrath of the almighty God against me was in the cup.

-       That’s what was in the cup.

 

 

3)  He wept over the city of Jerusalem, when He saw that Jerusalem was rejecting Him as the Savior

 

And He weeps today over some of you going on in life over your spiritual deadness…

He weeps…

 

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

 

·      Believe me there is going to be a few times in life that you’re going to need God’s GRACE... that’s why it’s so important to cling to Jesus daily.

·      Because one of these days, that’s all you’re going to have to cling to… is Jesus.

 

Let’s move on to C in GRACE: CHRIST paid the price.

·      God loves us so much… He put and let His son endure the cross for us...

·      Jesus died on the cross so that all our sins, all our wrongs, are forgiven.

·      He paid the price, sacrificed Himself for you and me so that we may be with Him forever.

·      When we accept Christ’s work on the cross, we are made a new creation.

·      We can then rely on God’s strength and power to enable us to forgive those who have hurt us.

·      We can set aside our selfishness and speak the truth in love.

 

My thoughts:

·      I honestly think we take the crucifixion of Christ lightly…

·      I know I did it for many years...

·      What do I mean?

 

·      God’s Wrath…

 

·      We’ve all seen the Passion of Christ.

·      Most of here, who come to Orchard, have attended our Good Friday service?

·      We walk through different stations that day:

As we walk through the sanctuary were watching videos of what Jesus went through.

From the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus getting beaten, spit on, and eventually hung on the cross…

-       We pick up a black rock (sin)

-       We wash our hands.

-       We picked up a leather strap and a nail.

-       We hang a paper with our sin on the cross

-       And we exchange our black rock with a clear rock…

 

It gets intense…some of us cry…

Now... picture your child going through all that torment…

It changes things... right?

Now it’s different… Now it changes the whole perspective of the cross…

Because it’s our child and it really hurts… now we feel the pain…

Now we feel the nails going through our hands and feet…

We feel the spear going through our side.

And now…we want to switch places with our child…

Lord… take me instead….

 

We need to look at the crucifixion differently…

 

Ephesians 1:7 

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

 

·      How rich is God’s grace.

 

The last letter in GRACE is E: God’s grace is an EVERLASTING gift.

·      Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior, God’s gift of grace is forever …

 

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

 

Philippians 1:6

 

Also:

2 Thessalonians 2:16

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope

 

God loved us, and through His grace He gave us a good hope and encouragement that continues forever …

 

1 Peter 2:9

 

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

 

Once you knew very little of God’s kindness; now your very lives have been changed by it…

 

Let’s Review todays acrostic:  GRACE

I stand before you as a product of God’s grace.

·      Everyone here this evening who has let Christ into his or her life is also a product of God’s grace.

 

 

 

We often hear:

If God is so good, then why are people starving?

Why are there diseases?

Why did God take my son, brother, or mom away from me?

Why ?

 

Scripture never tells us that we’re going to live a perfect life. Have an abundance of money, and have the perfect marriage.

 

Quite the contrary..

-       You will have trials and tribulations

-       You will have ups and downs in life

-       And you will lose family members…

-       But scripture also tells us, that Jesus will walk along side of us during hard times if we have faith and we cling on to Him…

 

God, has a plan for each of us…

 

We weren’t created to be happy, but to be Holy…

 

John 3:16 tells us who God is... think about that for a minute…

 

I have been given Grace by the God of the universe…

 

Who gets angry and pours out His wrath..

 

The one who Gives and Takes away…

 

 

 

Isaiah 53:10

 

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

 

I serve a great God who demonstrated His wrath when He poured it out on His own son.

 

It amazes me that we believe this:

 

 That God would crush and kill His own son, but let you and I slide and get away with our sin...

 

·      Jesus being sinless and perfect, died because of the wrath of God

·      How dare we take that lightly. That’s against who we have sinned.

·      How dare we think we’re going to have an easy life, with no struggles, no hurt, no confusion, or no pain…

·      Scripture never says that…What Scripture says…is HE will walk along side of us during the darkest times of our lives… and He’ll never let us go…

 

16 months since my son passed away...

 

-       August 21, 2023… marks 1 year since my boy passed away

-        

 

·      For the last 16 months I have been walking in the valley…

·      I can’t lie it’s been a long walk…

·      It was my birthday a few days ago… and my birthday’s will never be the same..

·      The grieve comes in waves…

-       I have good days,

-       I have quiet days

-       I have days I break down

·      I go back to the day I lost my boy…

-       I often go back to the feeling in my soul when I received the phone call…My son had passed away…

-        

·      It brings me back to the conversation I had with God...

 

“If you can’t take it away from me Lord…walk with me so I can endure this pain in my heart”

·       It brought me back when my brothers came to be by my side...

-       My Sanctuary Team

-       My brothers from CR

-       My family

 

-       My son is gone… God had bigger plans for Him that I would of ever imagine.

 

-       In preparing this message I studied the book of Habakkuk...

 

-       Habakkuk cried out for the Lord to judge the wickedness of Judah

 

-       He has upset and horrified that God would use the Babylonians to Punish Judah

 

-       The Babylonians being barbarians, He asked the Lord why..

 

-       Just like when we have a terrible storm in our life and we wonder why

 

-       The Loss of a marriage, a loved one…a son

 

-      The Lord’s Reply

 

Habakkuk 1:5

“Look among the nations and watch—

Be utterly astounded!

For I will work a work in your days

Which you would not believe, though it were told you.

 

-       His thought process, His thinking, His love for us, His plan for us, are above our comprehension…We wouldn’t understand even if we tried.

 

 

But this I can say…

-       God gave me 25 years with my son

-       He gave me the opportunity to laugh and cry together …

-       To celebrate his birthdays…to watch him skate and play soccer

-       To laugh and to smile

-       He could have given me less time with him…but He didn’t

-       He gave me and wife an opportunity to teach him about Jesus

-       We planted the seed in his heart at a very young age

-       Isaiah loved the Lord…

-       God gave me the chance to physically baptize my son at our old church …

-       When I’m sad, when grief hits me hard…

-       God answers…” My grace is sufficient for you…”

 

 

·      Do I miss my son today?

Yes

·      Does my heart hurt today?

Yes

·      But God gives me Hope… that I will see my boy when I go to Heaven…

·      God has changed my view regarding death…

·      I have a strong Christian wife, that I know she will raise my boys as strong Christian men if something was to happen to me…

·      That’s the abundance of Grace God has given me…

·      The gift of Peace and Joy even during difficult times in life…

·      He can give that to you also…

 

2 Corinthians 7-10

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

The meaning of life. The wasted years of life. The poor choices of life. God answers the mess of life with one word:    'GRACE'

 

What gives me the most hope every day is God's grace; knowing that His grace is going to give me the strength for whatever I face,knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.

 

 

Revelation 19 : 11-16

 

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 

That’s My God!

 

12His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. That’s my Jesus… He has given and taken away from me… That’s the God I give praise to, even during the darkest times of my life…

 

I have been saved by His Grace… that’s the God who took my son home…and that’s the God whom I have given my life too… and this is the God I will praise for ever and ever…

 

Just as He has given me Grace, He gives you Grace…

 

Search Jesus daily, cling on to Him…. run to Him…

 

Psalm 145: 17:21

 

The Lord is righteous in all His ways,

Gracious in all His works.

18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,

To all who call upon Him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;

He also will hear their cry and save them.

20 The Lord preserves all who love Him,

But all the wicked He will destroy.

“My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.”

 

·      Only by professing our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, can we experience His GRACE and have eternal life.

·      If you’re hurting inside and just want to cry out to the Lord…I’ll cry with you..

 

·      Today is the day… today is the day you can come to the feet of the cross…

Lesson 26 – Ministry Opportunities

(Mark 10:42-45)

 

Principle 8: Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words.

 

"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires!” Matthew 5:10 (TEV)

 

Step 12: Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and practice these principles in all our affairs.

 

“Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.”  Galatians 6:1 (NIV)

 

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

 

Bulletin Stuffers: Meet at the Assimilation Table at 6:30pm, and get to know other Celebrate Recovery participants while stuff the bulletins.

 

Prayer Ministry: Join in to pray for the speakers and Leaders, participants, and all of the meetings. Or join the weekly team and pray for the prayer requests turned in each meeting via an email prayer chain.

 

Greeters:  Greet People - Come early and be the smiling face that welcomes newcomers.  This is a front-line ministry!

 

Ushers:  Seat People – Be in the sanctuary 20 minutes before service and help people find a seat and serve the folks as the needs arise.

 

Kitchen Team / Barbecue / Cookout Team:  Feed People - Come and barbeque or serve pizza/meal while you get to know people. It’s a great first step in service and fellowship. (Pizza/Meal season—November through April. Barbecue season—April through October.)

 

Levites: Serve People with set up or tear down teams, serve every week or every other week.

 

Worship Team: Several opportunities – see Wendy for details.

 

Audio / Visual:   Visual ~ Run PowerPoint® during Large Group or Newcomers 101, or to help develop various PowerPoint presentations for special trainings, workshops, etc. Friday nights: Audio ~ Work with the worship team.

 

Celebration Place - Children’s Ministry:  Serve in our children’s ministry and be part of the families “Jesus Adventure.”  This requires a background check.

 

The Landing:  Share your experience, strength and hope with teens as they work through the Landing material.

 

CR Inside (Prison Ministry):  Take CR into the prisons with the opportunity to regularly bless the folks that are incarcerated.

 

Missions:  Support the local recovery homes, take food to the local pantries, support the local crisis pregnancy facilities, etc.

 

Open Heart Testimonies:  First, talk to our Ministry Leader and let him know you are interested and being part of our OHT.  Also, turn your testimony in and be available to share it with other CR’s in our area.

Prayerfully ask God to guide you in selecting the area where you will serve. Then, fill out the Celebrate Welcome Card and return your card to the Friday leadership or offering plate. It’s as simple as that! A Celebrate Recovery Leader will contact you and give you the steps to take to begin serving. We want to thank you for taking another step in your recovery by serving others. With your help, we will be able to reach more people in our families and communities who are struggling with hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

 

Why be of service?

 

1. For too long we served ourselves and no it is time to give back.
2. When you are of service to others it gives you a feeling of meaning and purpose.
3. Recovery is not something that you sit back and let happen, you must be active.  Service is activity in staying sober.
4. You do not have to worry about doing it the right way, just start off by doing something. 
5. While you are in service you are able to give it away, so you can keep it.6

 

(Mar 10:42-45) Jesus describes true greatness.

 

[42-45] But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

 

1. Those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them: Their desire for position and status showed they didn’t know the nature of Jesus yet, in respect to leadership and power. Those who exercise power or authority in the church today as “lording it over” others still don’t understand the Jesus style of leadership and life.

 

2. Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant: In the Kingdom community, status, money, and popularity are not the prerequisites for leadership. Humble service is the greatest (and only) prerequisite, as displayed by Jesus’ own ministry.

 

3. Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve: Real ministry is done for the benefit of those ministered to, not for the benefit of the minister. Many people are in the ministry for what they can receive (either materially or emotionally) from their people instead of for what they can give.

 

And so again, Jesus is teaching the importance, if you want to be a ruler, if you want to be chief, if you want to be the head, then learn to be the servant.

 

The path of greatness is through service. It is important that I realize that as I am serving man, I am actually serving God. I do it in the name of the Lord; I do it as unto the Lord.

 

Colossians 3:17 (NKJV), “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

 

And you need to realize that in serving the Lord, that constitutes serving man, because that's what the Lord requires you to do as His servant. And so the path of greatness is the path of humility, learning to be the servant.

·     Durante los tiempos bíblicos, el lavado de los pies era una práctica común y se consideraba un signo de hospitalidad y respeto.

·      Los caminos no estaban pavimentados y estaban polvorientos, y la gente usaba sandalias, por lo que sus pies se ensuciaban y se llenaban de polvo.

·     Se realizaba un lavado de pies para limpiar los pies de los invitados que venían de visita.

·     También era un signo de humildad y servidumbre.

Jesús lavó los pies de sus discípulos como símbolo de humildad y servicio.

Lesson 25 – The Seven Reasons We Get Stuck

(Hebrews 12:1-3)

 

Principle 8: Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words.

 

"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires!” Matthew 5:10 (TEV)

 

Step 12: Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and practice these principles in all our affairs.

 

“Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.”  Galatians 6:1 (NIV)

 

SEVEN REASONS WE GET STUCK

 

As you complete your journey, you will discover the rewards of sponsoring newcomers. Your role as a sponsor will be to help others along their journey on the road to recovery by guiding them through the principles and steps. Your task is not to pick them up and carry them through the steps, but to stand alongside them as they complete their journey.

 

At times, you may need to slow them down when they are moving through the steps too quickly; or you may need to speed them up when they get stuck along the side of the road. There are seven major areas in which I have seen individuals get “stuck” at some point in their recoveries. It is important that you are familiar with each of them so you help them get “unstuck.”

 

1. You have not completely worked the previous principle

 

Perhaps you are trying to move through the principles too quickly. Slow down! Give God time to work! Remember, this program is a process.  “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25)

 

2. You have not completely surrendered your will and your life to the Lord

 

Perhaps you are trusting Jesus with the “big” things, but you still think you can handle the “small” things.  “For good judgment and common sense, trust in the Lord completely; don’t ever trust in yourself. In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, TLB)

 

3. You have not accepted Jesus’ work on the cross for your forgiveness

 

You may have forgiven others, but you think your sin is too big to be forgiven.  “But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us…from every wrong.” (1 John 1:9, TLB)

 

“So overflowing is his kindness towards us that he took away all our sins through the blood of his Son, by whom we are saved.” (Ephesians 1:7, TLB)

 

Have you forgiven yourself?

 

Remember,

 

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

 

4. You really have not forgiven others who have harmed you

 

You must “let go of the pain of past harm and abuse. Until you are able to release it, forgive it, it will continue to hold you as its prisoner.  “After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you his eternal glory. He personally will pick you up, and set firmly in place and make you stronger than ever.” (1 Peter 5:10-11, TLB)

 

5. You are afraid of the risk in making the necessary change

 

You may be paralyzed by the fear of failure. You may fear intimacy because of the fear of rejection or of being hurt again. You may resist change (growth) because of the fear of the unknown.  “Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed… I will strengthen you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, TLB)

 

“That is why we can say without any doubt or fear, “The Lord is my Helper and I am not afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.” (Hebrews 13:6, TLB)

 

6. You are not willing to “own” your responsibility

 

You need to take responsibility for your past in a broken relationship, a damaged friendship, with a distant child or parent, and so forth.  “Examine me, O God, and know my mind; test me, and discover…if there is any evil in me and guide me in the everlasting way.” (Psalm 139:23, GNB)

 

7. You have not developed an effective support team

 

Do you have a sponsor or an accountability partner? Do you have the phone numbers of others in you small group? Have you volunteered for a commitment to your recovery ministry?  “Be with wise men and become wise. Be with evil men and become evil.” (Proverbs 13:20, TLB)

 

“Dear brothers, you have been given freedom: not freedom to do wrong, but freedom to love and serve each another.” (Galatians 5:13, TLB)

 

“Share each other’s troubles and problems, and so obey our Lord’s command.” (Galatians 6:2, TLB)

 

Celebrate Recovery’s Daily Action Plan for Serenity

 

1.Daily, continue to take an inventory. When you are wrong, promptly admit it

2.Daily, study God’s Word and pray asking God to guide to guide you and help you apply His teaching and will in your life.

3.Daily, work and live the eight principles to the best of your ability, always looking for new opportunities to help and serve others – not just at your recovery meetings but in all areas of your life.

 

5. Tienes temor de arriesgarse a hacer los cambios necesarios.

No tengas miedo, porque yo estoy contigo; no te desalientes, porque yo soy tu Dios. Te daré fuerzas y te ayudaré; te sostendré con mi mano derecha victoriosa. (Isaías 41:10 NTV)

Así que podemos decir con toda confianza: 'El Señor es quien me ayuda, por tanto, no temeré. ¿Qué me puede hacer un simple mortal?' (Hebreos 13:6 NTV)

 

 

 

 

 

 

6. No estás dispuesto a "aceptar" tu responsabilidad.

Examíname, oh Dios, y sondea mi corazón; ponme a prueba y sondea mis pensamientos. Fíjate si voy por mal camino, y guíame por el camino eterno. (Salmos 139:23-24 NVI)

 

 

 

 

7. No has desarrollado un equipo de apoyo efectivo.

Camina con sabios y te harás sabio; júntate con necios y te meterás en dificultades.

(Proverbios 13:20 NTV)

Pues ustedes, mis hermanos, han sido llamados a vivir en libertad; pero no usen esa libertad para satisfacer los deseos de la naturaleza pecaminosa, Al contrario, usen la libertad para servirse unos a otros por amor. (Gálatas 5:13 NTV)

Ayúdense a llevar los unos las cargas de los otros, y obedezcan de esa manera la ley de Cristo.
