Mayor Ernie Davis and "Crabs in a Barrel"

Mayor Ernie Davis and "Crabs in a Barrel"
Growing up in a mostly white town, it was very new to me to see so many Black politicians trying to cut the throat of another Black politician when I moved to Mt. Vernon NY. When the government spent several years and so far, untold thousands of dollars on a witch hunt against Mt. Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis, the "crabs," came knocking. In this episode of the Darrell Davis Program, I put these attacks on Mayor Davis in perspective and remind my listeners that there is a history of white media and investigative agencies ganging up on Black elected officials.

    Ghost of Robeson

    Ghost of Robeson
In this episode I talk about my upcoming book GHOST OF ROBESON. It is the story of our successful struggle to save public housing in Peekskill NY, the site of the what Pete Seeger called,"The Robeson attack." But the book is not just about a movement and how and why we did what we did to win. The book gets into a lot of "gut check." I deal with doubts, fears and white supremacist attitudes that are a part of ALL multi-racial movements. I talk about all that and more in this episode of OUR WORLD.

    Free H Rap Brown!!

    Free H Rap Brown!!
Although H Rap Brown is no longer goes by that name, Imam Jamil AbDullah Al-Amin, is still being punished and tortured for being that more famous young man of the sixties and seventies that dared to confront racist America. He sits in a U.S. dungeon, the victim of an obvious frame up. Imam Jamil should be freed from torture (maximum security prison) immediately! It is a disgrace that national leaders are silent on his plight. Tune in to this episode of THE DARRELL DAVIS PROGRAM! Spread the word about the horrible case of Imam Jamil!

    Growing Scandal Among Democrats

    Growing Scandal Among Democrats
After we defeated the Tea Party Democrats in Peekskill NY, I had hoped that the "Good" Democrats would step forward and turn the page. That did not happen. Two weeks ago I was blindsided by the Peekskill Dixiecrats in a press release, despite not attending a council meeting in six months. Why the attack on me? Why now? The answers to those questions have serious implications for the Democratic Party from the local level, all the way up to the national party. In this episode of THE DARRELL DAVIS PROGRAM I spill the beans.

The Grassroots: Who We Are and Who Are Our Oppressors

The Grassroots: Who We Are and Who Are Our Oppressors
As grassroots people -poor people, people of color, working class, even many middle class people- history shows we must fight for every gain and fight harder to keep them. In this episode of OUR WORLD I raise basic questions about who we, Grassroots people, are, why we must constantly struggle for our rights, and who are some of the people we must struggle against. We will see that often, the very people who should be standing with us, are our greatest enemy.

    Racism in Wealthy Westchester County

    Racism in Wealthy Westchester County
Fighting racism in wealthy Westchester County exposes some very disturbing political relationships; the failure of elected Black Leadership to stand up for poor Blacks, and racism smack in the middle of the white anti-racists' networks. On this episode of THE DARRELL DAVIS PROGRAM I begin what will be a series of radio shows dealing with what I call the new "N" word- Racism. A word we are no longer allowed to use if we leave it up to the bigots in America. In upcoming shows we will continue this discussion in the hopes that others will join in and help advance Democracy, address racism- wherever it may be, and continue to build the Civil Rights Movement in Westchester that started again, in Peekskill four years ago. Despite some "activists" in Westchester refusing to acknowledge our existence (the worse form of racism) we continue to grow and pick up victories.

Peekskill Democrats (Brown Shirts) Defeated by Grassroots Organizing

Peekskill Democrats (Brown Shirts) Defeated by Grassroots Organizing
This past Election Day, Tuesday November 5th, marked the beginning of the end for the Peekskill Brown Shirts. A collection of carpetbaggers who came to Peekskill, highjacked the Democratic Party, used threats, intimidation, lies, racial slurs and violence to hold power and try to push out those in town THEY deemed unworthy. We beat them! In this show I review some of the issues, our strategy, why we won and what needs to be done next!

True Leaders, Uncle Toms and Racism

True Leaders, Uncle Toms and Racism
America is more segregated today than it was in the sixties. According to a new study reported on in the New York Times, our nation is more prejudiced today than when President Obama was elected. Where race is concerned, we are going backwards. Why is that? Why are there few Dr. Kings, Stokely Carmichaels or Fannie Lou Hamers today? Why are more and more "movement" people tomming? In this week's radio show I deal with all of that and more. And I bring it all home to the local struggle against racism in Peekskill N.Y.

Peekskill Mayor Revives Hate That Almost Killed Paul Robeson

Peekskill Mayor Revives Hate That Almost Killed Paul Robeson
The so called Robeson Riots mark a shameful day in the history of this nation. Peekskill residents, driven by jingoism, racism and antisemitism, rioted in 1949, and assaulted concert-goers who came out to hear Paul Robeson give a free show opposing the war. For that effort, Robeson might have been killed if he had not been turned back at the train station. Peekskill Mayor Mary Foster has revived that hatred by blaming Public Housing residents, most of them Black and Latino, for Peekskill's economic woes. Her abuse of people of color at council meetings borders on Fascism. I cover all of that in this very important episode.

Tiger, Sergio, Fried Chicken and Who Is Guarding the Chicken Coop?

Tiger, Sergio, Fried Chicken and Who Is Guarding the Chicken Coop?
The racism leaking out of the Golf world is hardly just about sports. It is about society and our chance to deal with race decisively. Ironically, like the rest of America, a lot of the people running sports, that we must complain to about racism, themselves are likely infected. Witness the golf official explaining why Sergio Garcia need not be suspended for his racist joke: Because, "A lot of his (Sergio's) friends are colored." Now that official is apologizing. As I say in this episode of OUR WORLD, this controversy is not about chicken, this is about who is guarding the chicken coop!

Peekskill Democrats, Election Strategy and Proof of Lies

Peekskill Democrats, Election Strategy and Proof of Lies
It is election time and we in Peekskill who have been so abused and lied to MUST NOT vote for Mayor Mary Foster and her clones. You would be endorsing their behavior. I have a better election strategy and proof that the Democrats have been lying about trying to get rid of Public Housing. I also talk about the fact that they don't want the community organized because they know they can't beat an organized, fearless group! That is why the Democrats have put the police on us. That is why they sent 4 police cars to break up a tenant association meeting. Enjoy the show and tell others to listen. A lot is at stake!

White Liberals, Book Clubs and Real Struggle

White Liberals, Book Clubs and Real Struggle
Sadly, too many "movement" people, particularly liberals and Black status seekers abandon true struggle because they are really after a bigger piece of the pie for themselves or name recognition. They also leave after failing to promote THEIR agenda, or simply because they don't have the stomach for it. We in Northern Westchester have been attacked viciously and some of our allies abandoned us. Despite that we continue to pick up victories. I talk about the real issues and reasons poor Blacks often find very few true friends.
