DILF (Dad I'd Like To Friend)

Parenting is one of life’s greatest gifts, yet it can also be stressful, exhausting, and extremely lonely... but YOU ARE NOT ALONE. This podcast was built on the belief that the best way to build community is by digging in and getting honest with ourselves. This is not a place for advice as much as it’s about finding connection with other parents (no matter your gender) who know exactly what you’re going through. Yes, this is a parenting podcast; and while we do discuss issues that revolve around life with kids, we focus more on the life of a human... who happens to be a parent, and how to balance the multitude of hats we wear on a daily basis while attempting to be the best version of ourselves for our partner, our children, and our own personal well-being. // DILF is a top parenting podcast which has broken into Apple's Top 50 Parenting Podcast charts around the world, while recently hitting #6 on the US charts :: To join in on the conversation, find us on Instagram @DILFpodcast //

Choosing Parenthood | Gays With Kids

We spend a lot of time discussing the joys and struggles that come with parenthood, but we rarely take the time to explore the choice one makes to enter the club. For many of us, the path to parenthood was not an easy or straight-forward journey... but that's especially true for members of the LGBTQ community.

Father Figure | Dad, How Do I

Father Figure | Dad, How Do I

In April of 2020, a father of two decided to launch a YouTube channel to offer some friendly "DADvice" to those in need — advice he sorely lacked growing up after his own father left him and his seven siblings when he was only 14 years old. That Youtube channel is called DAD, HOW DO I and in under three months it has amassed over 2.4 million subscribers.

In today's episode, Kevin sits down with Rob Kenney, the dad behind DAD HOW DO I, for a heart-to-heart with the man one fan referred to as “not the internet dad, but rather the internet’s dad.”

The Happiness Checklist | DILF 10

The Happiness Checklist | DILF 10

DILF's Happiness Checklist is a theory formed by our host, Kevin Seldon, that breaks down the five most important facets to living a healthy and fulfilled life:

    1. Support Network // 2. Love // 3. Passion // 4. Health // 5. FUN

In the end, Kevin's theory reveals that the most important key to sustaining mental health and happiness for fathers is a strong SUPPORT NETWORK - which is one of the main motivating factors behind this podcast.

    Finding Fatherhood

    Finding Fatherhood

When host Kevin Seldon first introduced The DILF Podcast to James Kyson, the concept was to center their episode around the launch of DILF's Work/LIfe Balance Series, considering how much James travels as a working actor while still maintaining the desire to be an active presence in his daughter's life. However, when the coronavirus hit and James became homebound, everything changed. With his life now turned upside down, this episode delves into James' evolution as a man, a father, and a co-parent...

    Connection (DILF's Co-Parenting Series)

    Connection (DILF's Co-Parenting Series)

What if we were to think of this pandemic as less of a catastrophe that created major problems in the world, and more of a beacon that shined a bright spotlight on already existing problems throughout the globe, and for many of us... in our own homes. If we can find ways to be our best selves and work to form true connections with our partners during all this chaos, then we can survive anything — it's atleast worth exploring...

Pregnant in the Time of Corona (DILF's Expect The Unexpected Series, part 1)

This is the first of DILF's new ongoing series, Expect The Unexpected, where we invite on dads-to-be to provide the often too-rare opportunity to explore feelings on pending fatherhood, and then welcome them back months later to see how any fears measured up to the realities of parenthood.

The goal is to allow veteran parents to nostalgically revisit the infancy of their own parental concerns and the chance to check-in with themselves on how far they've come, while offering the freedom to expectant dads to release some of that pressure that most of us never had the opportunity to explore - a forum that every modern parent truly deserves and honestly needs...

DILF Challenge :: The Grandparent Hokey Pokey

DILF Challenge :: The Grandparent Hokey Pokey

Last week, we video chatted with my parents at around 4pm in the afternoon. They were both in bed, had been all day. And although they were excited to talk to their grandson, they were simultaneously glued to their bed and the tv news. And then my 18m son requested a song, but my mom singing apathetically from bed didn't exactly do the trick and he got a bit bored. SO, I suggested a little Hokey Pokey, and my dad leaped at the chance to entertain his grandson. And as he got into the dance, so did my son... And as my son laughed, so did my dad. It was a beautiful moment. And then we convinced my mom to do the same, so she begrudgingly got out of bed... but as she sang and danced, once again, HER spirits began to lift as my son laughed and danced along. Once we were done, we decided to call my wife's parents to request the same. Sure enough, the same thing happened. As each of my son's grandparents got up to entertain their grandson, they also got some much needed physical exercise, as well as an opportunity to lift their endorphins and their day...and that gave me an idea.

Isn’t it time we had a simple 'challenge' that an older generation can participate in, that can provide a little physical exercise while lifting everyone's spirits for short while. This isn't about nominating your friends or going viral, this Is about lifting your parents' day during this lockdown, helping them to stay healthy and active while spreading some love. And who couldn’t use a little more of that right now...

#SpreadCALM | Overcoming Anxieties in the Home

#SpreadCALM | Overcoming Anxieties in the Home

Before we can even attempt to follow the advice we've all read to calm our anxieties like going for walks, eating healthy, or meditating, we need to first ACKNOWLEDGE OUR FEELINGS. Pushing them down won't help you or anyone around you. Feeling anxious during this craziness is normal… at any age.

In this episode, Kevin welcomes Ned Johnson (co-author of national bestseller, The Self-Driven Child) to discuss some of the neuroscience behind stress as well as his recent article in the Washington Post: offering tips on how to increase our kid's sense of control during this global crisis.

"After this virus has run its course, not only will we have a greater herd immunity to the virus (through exposure, like we used to do with chicken pox), we may have greater herd immunity to the stress. And if we handle it properly, our children will, too.” - Ned Johnson

One of the biggest takeaways that neuroscience teaches us is that adversity in life wires the brain for resilience. So, this crisis maybe more of an opportunity than we realize to learn new ways to handle our anxiety while practicing techniques to spread CALM in our homes and throughout the world around us.

    Modern Dadhood

    Modern Dadhood

As of now, there's really no system in place to welcome, educate or support dads... not like there is for moms. Therefore, the simple action of making a new "dad friend" is no easy task. This episode is our first step in truly bringing these issues to light, and hopeful helping other dads out there to know that they are not alone.

    Acknowledgement (DILF's Co-Parenting Series)

    Acknowledgement (DILF's Co-Parenting Series)

A few weeks back, my wife and I were in the middle of an argument when I realized that WHAT we were actually fighting about had nothing to do with the situation before us or the words coming out of our mouths... we were each angry about other unresolved issues in our relationship and simply using this random argument to vent frustrations without actually addressing the true issue at hand... and it was beginning to impact the environment in which we raise our child. We were in a vicious cycle... and it wasn't about a lack of love, it was remnants from past feelings that had yet to be resolved and simply lingered silently, growing momentum within us in a way that could slowly poison any relationship but especially dangerous for the often strained relationship between co-parents... and this made me think of a topic I’ve been working on a lot lately: A simple concept to some, yet revolutionary to others: ACKNOWLEDGMENT... one of the best ways I have found to gain resolution and put the past behind us.
