Great up and coming band with a powerful message. Fire From The Gods is a band out of Austin, TX. Lead vocalist AJ Cammer is the special guest on episode 117 of the DOMKcast. The band has been around since 2015 and released two albums to date. Their first "Narrative" deals with the issues of AJ who sunk into a deep depression at a certain time period in his life with feelings of emptiness and unfulfillment. Finding a purpose in his art and music, AJ tells the continuous journey of one man in both of the albums from "Fire From The Gods". Narrative highlights a dark time period and "American Sun" is a continuation of the walk into a more positive light. The band is on tour right now with Five Finger Death Punch and Three Days Grace. An old friend stopped by to hang with Lunchbox and Promo Brady this week. Promo Dave is back in Tulsa and has taken him no time at all to plug back into the local music scene. Dave ventured out to California for a few years and recently moved back to his old stomping grounds. A great conversation about the difference between the two music scenes(Northern California and Oklahoma), the decision to drop "Promo" from his name, and what he has on the horizon with his band The Haters. Dave has also been playing a few gigs with Bandcamp from time to time so ample opportunities to seehim in action around town. A little more grounded these days with a wife and two kids. The obsession with a "perfect" persona is the overall theme of the new album from called "Flawed Design". Adam Gontier and Mike Mushok are the special guests on episode 115 of the DOMKcast. Social media is king these days and everybody is all in on portraying the "perfect" life. Saint Asonia provides encouragement to not chase after those superficial goals and embrace your flaws. It's what makes you unique. Mike revealed in the conversation that he's one of the few people left on earth without a social media account of any kind.

Deep and personal lyrics are laced throughout the new album. You'll hear about the events that led to the song "This August Day" where Adam articulates missing the birth of his son due to a stint in rehab. Realizing that the most important thing for him and his family was to rid the demons from the past.

The dynamic is different these days being on the road-both Adam and Mike having kids. They talk about being a father and the balancing act of taking care of those responsibilities and enjoying their passion that they've cultivated in Saint Asonia.

New album due out October 25th called "All Hail". Veteran rockers Norma Jean are poised to do big things in 2020. Hitting the road with Devil Wears Prada and going to make their way through the states to finish out the year. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years. None of the original members in the band are currently in Norma Jean. The most recent lineup change happening with the departure of guitarist Jeff Hickey who has had troubles with alcoholism. Lead vocalist Corey Brandon talked Jeff's exit and many other topics on episode 114 of the DOMKcast. Corey's been on the DOMKcast before to talk about his other band Hundred Suns. He's focused his attention on Norma Jean of late. Corey talked about the differences between his two bands and how the recording process goes. Offering a release to the constant negative news cycle that we've been enindated with for years is crucial in keeping your sanity. It was the goal of Sum 41 to provide that release with their new album "Order In Decline". With songs like "Out For Blood" and "45", this is their loudest and aggressive album yet. Lead vocalist Deryck Whibley is the special guest on episode 113 of the DOMKcast. The band has been around since 2001 emerging onto the rock music scene with their hit "Fat Lip". They continued on and built a loyal fanbase. Deryck talked about his struggles with alcohol. He is 5 years sober-at one point was told by a doctor that if he took one more drink he might die. Deryck viewed alcohol as just a thing he did as opposed to being addicted. In terms of transitioning out of drinking on a consistent basis, he found it was basically like turning off a switch for him. He had to find a different release and put all of his energy into that. Sum 41 is celebrating the 15 year anniversary of their album "Chuck". The band will be hitting the road this fall and playing all of the songs off of that album with some of their newer stuff off of "Order In Decline" mixed in. Wes Scantlin of Puddle Of Mudd is back and making awesome music with his bandmates again. A rocky past which included run-ins with the law, substance abuse, and more are in the rearview mirror. Wes is 2 years sober. He talked about the impact that his sobriety has had on his life and career on the DOMKcast. Wes saying "I'm lucky to be alive".Hear about the new Puddle Of Mudd album "Welcome To Galvania", Puddle of Mudd's first gig playing at a porn party, and getting permantly banned from Graceland for doing a Jack Hammer in the pool. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is back with a new song "Shooting Star". Lead vocalist Ronnie Winter is the special guest on episode 110 of the DOMKcast. Been around since the early 2000's, Ronnie talks about how they've been able to sustain success and build their fanbase. Signed to a major record label in the early part of their career, now do it all on their own. Their fanbase has inspired them to continue on after all of these years. New song out called "Shooting Star" which you'll be able to hear at the end of the episode. This song tackles the tough subject of addiction. Ronnie explains what the song means to him. The band is thinking covers album in the near future after they released a cover of the Men At Work classic "Land Down Under". The lyrics to many of the songs by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have spiritual elements. Ronnie explains how his spirituality has helped him throughout his career and the difference between being spiritual and being religious. A fun rock record is what Dinosaur Pile Up set out to achieve and ackomplished just that with their latest album "Celebrity Mansions". Lyrically, the album chronicals the bands struggles to break through. Musically, they wanted to make a fun record that you would put on at a party and grab a beer. Currently on the road right now with Shinedown and Badflower-Matt says they're enjoying their experience with those guys. Siting Brent Smith as such a wildly positive dude. He explained the story behind how they came up with their name Dinosaur Pile Up-finding their inspiration in the King Kong remake. They're new song "Back Foot" has a bit of rap cadensce to it. A tremendous story coming from a friend of the DOMKcast. Josey Scott formerly of Saliva has been apart of DOMK in the past. He came up to the KMOD studios to hang out with Lunchbox and Promo Brady to share details about a new family member that he discovered after going through ancestry.com. Ironically enough, it required a sample of his "saliva". His discovery was life-changing. The results found that he had a sister that was born in Phoenix years ago. He made contact with his new sibling by the name of Savannah and flew her and her family out to Tulsa. You'll hear from both Josey and his new sister Savannah on episode 108 of the DOMKcast. Could you be seeing John Cooper of Skillet at a comic-con near you? Skillet has their first comic book called Eden set to be released at the end of the month. John Cooper is the special guest on the DOMKcast this week. A loyal fan of comic books since he was a kid, John said coming up with his own graphic novel is a bit of a bucket list moment for him. Promo Brady and John dissect the awesomeness and the flaws of the Avengers series. New album out now "Victorious". John has been making the rounds and promoting the brand new album which even included a performance at 6am on Fox and Friends. John has a different lifestyle out on the road as opposed to the normal rockstar cliche. Him and his wife Koorey who is also in Skillet take their two children with them anytime they hit the road. John talked about the diversity that they get to experience at an early age and also the ability to accept others for who they are. Heavily into his faith, touches on how christianity has helped him keep a level head throughout the years and the success that Skillet has had. It has been something for him that has kept him grounded and put things into perspective. What are the plans for his side project Fight The Furry which he recently started up? The writing process is a fascinating thing. Everybody has their own quirks, method, and overall ways to get inspired. Neil Fallon admits that it's not something you can just sit down with a pad and paper and start piecing together a song. Nothing productive comes out of that setting. He says "The majority of the time, I get song ideas when I'm stuck in D.C. traffic." He is the special guest on episode 104 of the DOMKcast. Clutch is an intriguing story-started their own record label in 2008 called Weathermaker Records. Their last album was Book Of Bad Decisions released in 2018, hear when their plans are to write and record a new album. They're releasing the Weathermaker Vault Series throughout the summer; a compilation of outside the box covers that they recorded. They've already released their rendition of "Evil" by Willie Dixon and ZZ Top's song "Precious and Grace". Neil sounds off about what young -up-and-coming bands deal with these days. If you're stuck in a negative cycle with no sign of anything positive in sight, do you swim with the current or have the courage to go against it? Often we accept our issues as the norm but what if one positive action lead to a new life filled with perspective that pushes you closer to a since of happiness. You'll hear more about the story of Brian Head Welch in episode 103 of the DOMKcast.

His inspiring journey was told in the showtime documentary "Loud Crazy Love". Brian quit Korn in 2005, walking away from a 23 million dollar recording contract to raise his daughter full-time. It was in this time period where he found his spiritual journey as well-finding peace in christianity. This helped him conquer some of those demons from years past and focus his attention on his daughter Jenna who recently turned 21 years old. His journey wasn't necessarily smooth sailing at this point. Brian had to overcome many obstacles in his years outside of Korn and grow as a person. As he points out in the conversation below, his faith does not necessarily align with the religion that is predominant in America. Believing that there shouldn't be any categories or castings into a group. Christianity is one denomination and we should be accepting of others-not ridiculing them.

Did Bryan listen to much Korn while was away from the band between the years 2005 and 2013? He admits that he would critique the albums that were made from time to time. Being a guitarist, he suggestions were always turn Monkey's guitar up a bit. He said it was difficult to listen to Korn during this time period. Ultimately, rejoining the band in 2013 with a more positive outlook which heavily influenced other members of the band. Korn is older, wiser, and stronger than ever.

New album "The Nothing" due out September 13th, Brian gave us some insight on the overall feel of the album. Jonathan Davis dealt with major emotional issues over the last couple of years and it spills out into this album. Could we be getting a covers album from Korn soon? The idea has been tossed around and Brian says it's something the band has been wanting to do for awhile. They have a few covers banked and will explore the idea. The anticipation of the new Korn album "The Nothing" is immense. We anxiously await it's arrival on September 13th. An amazing story of perserverence in episode 102 of the DOMKcast. Neal Middleton is the lead vocalist of the band Royal Bliss and he has overcome many obstacles in his career. Fell from a building 35 feet in the air and was paralyzed from the waist down. That didn't stop Neal from quiting the band. He taught himself how to walk all over again-convincing his bandmates to weight while he got back into shape and ready to get back out on the road. They're new song "Pain" deals overcoming that resonating negative voice inside your head that controls you at times throughout your life. Hear the full song at the end of the episode. Neal tried out for The Voice years ago and talked about his experience which wasn't exactly positive by any stretch of the imagination. Royal Bliss is out of Salt Lake City and has been around for years. At one point was deemed the unluckiest band in rock. You can look at it more on the "glass is full" side of things and say that it's remarkable how much resiliance they've shown over their career. Nick Reese of the band Joyous Wolf was heavily influenced by classic rock growing up. But what is considered classic rock these days? His definition is Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry. Music from the 50's and 60's when rock n' roll was in it's rawest form. Now-a-days people's perception of classic rock is a little different Nick discusses this with Lunchbox and Promo Brady on episode 101 of the DOMKcast. Joyous Wolf is a young up and coming band from Southern California-currently on the road with Buckcherry. The band met at 6th grade orientation and started walking down the path towards a career in the music industry. Joyous Wolf didn't want to be defined by their name and decided use an online generator to spit out some ideas for a name. Initially it gave the idea of Joyous Wolves. The band decided to make it singular and went with Joyous Wolf. Nick talks about his experiences as a musician in the early-going-playing anywhere and everywhere just to get some experience.
