Just sharing my favorite films of 2023 while trying out some old overholt 10 year old rye whiskey.

It's another DOUBLE FEATURE EPISODE! Carissa and I discuss 1980's "Maniac" and it's 2012 remake. All while trying out a couple of New Riff single barrels. A bourbon and rye pick from Mission wine and spirits in Pasadena CA.

This week both Matt and Chris join me to discuss one of my favorite John Carpenter films, "Assault on Precinct 13". Fantastic film that these guys just watched for the first time. We try out a flight of whiskies for this one starting with a Single Malt from a local distillery in Culver City, CA. Then we move on to Little Book Chapter 6 "To The Finish", and then end on Elijah Craig 18. (As a bonus we pour some Knob Creek 18 for comparison)

Matt and I discuss one of my favorite films of 2023, Cord Jefferson's directorial debut "American Fiction". We pair this with Johnny Walker Black and a store pick of Buffalo Trace from Louie's Liquor store in Azusa CA

To celebrate Valentines Day, Carissa and I discuss 1981's "My Bloody Valentine". This episode was recorded using my new DJI lav mics so the audio quality will be different than usual. Cheers!

Last episode of 2023 is here! Mando joins the show once again to discuss the original 1954 Godzilla and the latest film in the franchise Godzilla Minus one. Is this one of the best movies of the year? As we discuss the films we try out Kikori Japanese rice whisky and break the seal on a Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof rye.

This week Matt and I discuss one of the greatest films of all time. The sci-fi horror classic that is John Carpenter's "The Thing". We pair this with Macready's drink of choice, the J&B blended scotch whiskey. Since I'm not a big scotch fan, I decide to bring out a bourbon to try as well. We finally break the seal on the Nelson Bros Cognac Cask Finished bourbon.

This week Matt and I try Four Gate Rye for the first time. This expression is the split stave by kelvin batch 10. After a pour we discuss Justin Chon's directorial debut film "Gook" from 2017.

SPOILER ALERT FOR "THE DEPARTED". This week Matt and I disucss the 202 film "Infernal Affairs. Heavy spoilers on this one so if you haven't seen it yet, or Martin Scorsese's The Departed, then you'll want to sit this one out. We pair this movie with the last of Hardin's Creek Kentucky Series, the 17 year old Boston. Cheers!

Solo episode where I try some MEzcal Vago Elote and talk about possibly my favorite film of 2023, Radical.

This week Matt and I discuss my favorite documentary, American Movie. Since we recorded on Thanksgiving week I decided to break out the Wild Turkey 101 12 year old. We compare it with regular 101 and a Stearns Store pick of Kentucky Spirit that is 10 years old.

In this weeks episode Matt brings two bottles straight from the Sagamore Spirit Distillery. Their new 6 year old bottled in bond batch 3 and the distillery exclusive Dopplebock Finished whiskey. After a couple pours of Sagamore we discuss Bong Joon Ho's 2003 masterpiece Memories of Murder.

Chris and I finally get our hands on the 13 year 7 month old Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C923 and taste it while discussing Tromas Masterpiece "The Toxic Avenger".

Lindsey and I kick off November by breakin the seal on the 2023 release of Michters Toasted Barrel Rye and Michters Barrel Strength Rye(this release was from a few years ago). After some wonderful tasters we dig into Brian De Palma's "Phantom of the Paradise".

It's Halloween week and Carissa and I are talking Brian De Palmas adaptation of Stephen Kings "Carrie". We pair this with a new release from Still Austin, the second in their bottled in bond series. Still Austin High Rye Bourbon Whiskey.

This week Carissa and I come through with another double feature episode. We're talking James Whales classic Universal monster movies, "Frankenstein" and "Bride of Frankenstein"

This week my brother and I discuss the Jamie Lloyd saga of the Halloween franchise. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers which features Paul Rudd in his first lead role and the last entry to have Donald Pleasance as Dr. Loomis. We pair these with the Nelson Bros Sherry Cask and 21st amendment brewery's Pumpkin Haze IPA.
