Resurrected Lives: Joy, Freedom, and Persistent Obstacles

Resurrected Lives: Joy, Freedom, and Persistent Obstacles

If resurrection has the power to transform death to life, shame to honor and forgiveness, isolation to community, and scarcity to abundance, then how might living in light of that kind of resurrection change us?

    - Series Description -

In this series, Resurrected Lives, we explore what it means to live post-Easter lives in light of Jesus’ resurrection. If Jesus has been raised, so can we. But sometimes, it takes more than three days to believe that for us. For the first two weeks of our series, we will look at what kind of lives are possible through the story of Acts. Then, as a Church, we will walk through several hot-button topics like money, sex, parenting, and power to see what kind of difference resurrection makes for these areas in our lives. Come and see!

    Walking With Jesus: Entering Jerusalem

    Walking With Jesus: Entering Jerusalem

Each week, we have looked through chapter ten of Mark's Gospel. Today, we'll explore the beginning of the eleventh chapter -- the story of Jesus walking to Jerusalem. Given the prediction of Jerusalem as the site of Jesus' death, how will this go? Shouldn't Jerusalem be menacing, awful, and a place of terror? We'll see together as Asha Evans leads us in our Palm Sunday service. Join us!

Come and see.

Walking With Jesus: Let the Children Come to Me

This week, we’ll look at Mark 10:13-16 where Jesus blesses little children that folks brought to him. However, his disciples rebuke Jesus for this act of care and compassion. Jesus said to his followers, “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” What does it mean that Jesus prioritizes child-likeness? Do you come to Jesus like a child?

    Home: 2 Corinthians 5

This Sunday, in the second installment of our three-part sermon series on Home, Tina will be sharing Scripture’s mysterious call for us to live as foreigners and strangers here on earth, tethered to a Kingdom not of this world. While the logic of American citizenship would have us fight for belonging in an established place within set borders, the Kingdom of God invites us into a different Way - following Jesus as immigrants here while we hold fast to our citizenship in heaven. As we journey with Jesus as aliens and nomads among the empires of this land, there is beautiful freedom and home in store for us. Come join us this Sunday to hear more.

    Becoming a Sent One

What does it mean to be sent out? Do we have to leave where we're from or can we be sent out right where we are? In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus sends out his disciples to experience welcome and rejection. There's something about embracing the possibility of both that requires trusting the words of Jesus and the presence of the Spirit. Come learn more as Josh shares about God's heart for everyday mission with the help of some special guests who God has sent out over the years.
