The community theme of this episode is definitely versatility. Founder and Creative Director of tREv clothing, Trevor Silver, takes time to share his personal success story…embedded in community-minded business savvy. I asked Trevor to be a guest on the podcast when we were both judging a junior high social studies contest. He is an intelligent young man who dropped out of law school to pursue his dream of combing art, fashion and entrepreneurial fire. tREv clothing is centered within the company acronym: trust, Respect, Educate, value. From a high school experience that bridged two traditionally tense communities, to gaining entrance to a prestigious law school, to creating his own limousine company…Trevor Silver has a knack for reaching career goals and extending them. His openness to sharing industry information and to explicitly name those who mentored him speaks to his community commitment.

Interview with Ron Lovett - Augy spends time with serial entrepreneur, author, organizational influencer and former bodyguard, Ron Lovett, to discuss how his community versatility as a youth shaped his career journey and his innovative corporate ideology. 

Ron is an award-winning businessman who has reached international notoriety with his community-centered approach to building (and growing) corporations. In this podcast episode, he chronicles his school days as a ‘connector’, his love of traveling, starting a private security business and eventually growing into an awareness of outrageous empowerment of his employees.

Interview with Jordon Croucher - Augy catches up with former Canadian Idol and Juno Award winning R&B artist Jordon Croucher. JRDN has both Halifax & Toronto roots. His 2010 single “U Can Have it All” reached #5 on the MuchMusic countdown & his latest album “Ralph” has close to 1 million streams on Spotify. Jordon was also a fantastic basketball player who won back-to-back national university championship during his time at Saint Francis Xavier University. Interview with Floyd Kane - Augy sits down to film/TV writer & producer Floyd Kane. Floyd is garnering the attention of many in the television landscape as his legal drama "Diggstown" is receiving critical acclaim on both CBC and Fox networks. Interview with Peter MacKay - Augy has been connected to Peter MacKay in various ways. Peter’s brother Andy has been a lifelong friend, their parents intersect in both politics and community engagement, and Peter has a love for sports that he and Augy share. Interview with Dr. Chris Frazer - Augy worked at St Francis Xavier University with Dr. Frazer in 2018. Augy was the Director of The Diversity Engagement Center and was often in discussions with Chris pertaining to the LGBTQ+ students on campus. Chris is a highly rated History professor with a strong student-centred approach. He obtained his Ph.D. from Brown University and spent time lecturing at Harvard University as well. Chris hails from Calgary Alberta, was a championship lacrosse and hockey athlete and comes from a proud working-class background. Chris has had a community-based mindset from a young age and this blossomed into his involvement in the Canadian Communist Party as a young adult. In this episode, Dr. Frazer clearly frames his commitment to others around the phrase "You hurt one of us...you hurt all of us". His passion for community activism is tangible and intersectional.

Interview with Michelle Jean-Paul - Augy met Michelle at NABSE2020 (National Assoc of Black School Educators) in Dallas, Texas. Michelle is from Winnipeg, Manitoba and discusses her diverse upbringing intersecting through culture, language, religion and education. She is currently the principal of a French high school and conducts research in educational equity. She accurately converses about teaching and community engagement techniques that have proven to effectively improve the school experience of marginalized students.

Interview with Dion Walcott - Augy and Dion played in the classic Halifax Provincial Black Basketball Tournament in the early '90s. Dion was a Toronto baller just coming out of high school and Augy was a university all-star starting out his teaching career. They both speak fondly of this community/sport experience. The rich conversation that ensues is fueled by basketball and pivotal life memories that put into context the present-day work Dion does with empowering youth in Toronto.
