    Leavers and Cleavers

Because cleavage matters!!!  In this episode, we delightfully discuss what the Bible says we need in order to have a successful marriage.  Gen. 2:24-Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.  To cleave, we must leave; to become one flesh, we must to be selfless.

    Definitions:

Leave- to go out of or away from, as a place. 2. to depart from permanently; quit. to disregard; neglect.

Cleave- to adhere closely; stick; cling ( usually followed by to). 2 to remain faithful (usually followed by to)

    Saved... What's That?

    Saved... What's That?

This episode is proud to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We are excited to share our passion about what the Bible says it takes to be saved, what it means to be saved, what we're actually saved from, and much more.

    Notes to consider:

What does being saved get you…

    • Forgiveness of Sins – Atonement provided by his sacrifice… penalty paid in full.
    • 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (Colossians 2:13-14)

Justification – No longer stand condemned and in danger of the judgement.

    • 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (Romans 3:24-25)

Eternal Life – No longer live in fear of death.  Death no longer has dominion over us..

    • 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:11-13)
    • But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:22-23)

    Patience

    Patience

In this episode we discuss the beauty of patience and how important it is to have it. We talk about getting married young, raising our six children, getting established as a couple, and our overall mindset while trying to reach our individual goals. In spite of our ups and downs, one thing became apparent, perseverance and patience are necessary for a successful journey.

    Definitions:

Patience- Quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence. An ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay.

Perseverance- Steady persistence in a course of action. a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

    Justification

    Justification

In this episode, we discuss the importance of being justified by God. By Him  we obtain a complete justification, for by him a complete atonement was made for sin. We are justified, not only by him as our judge, but by Him as our righteousness.  Our faith leads us to obey His word that leads to justification. We fall short when we try to justify ourselves by trying to do things our way.

    Scriptures:

    • Romans 3, Romans 8
    • Galatians 2:16-21
    • James 2:17-26

    Modest Heart

    Modest Heart

In this episode, we cover the power of having a heart posture of modesty, or humility. It's not about the flex!

    • Poverty does not equal modesty or humility.
    • We can be driven to poverty because of the lack of modesty.

    A few scriptures to share:

    1. Gal. 6:3- For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
    2. Prov. 16:18- Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
    3. James 4:6- Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
    4. Matt. 23:12- And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Jesus is our perfect example of humility:  Matt. 11:28-30, Phil. 2:8

    • He was free from all worldly pride.
    • of appearance, He had no form of comeliness.
    • of success, He was despised and rejected of men.
    • of reputation, He was called a Nazarene.
    • of riches, He had no place to lay his head.
    • of rank, He was a carpenter's son.
    • of kinship, He washed the disciple's feet.

    The "S" word!

    The "S" word!

Submission is a concept that seems to go against the grain of human nature, and yet we all see the need for it in certain aspects of life. Without submission, things quickly fall into chaos as everyone strives to be in charge. Even though it is sometimes mocked as a sign of weakness, submission is really one of the strongest pillars of a stable society.

    Scriptures:

    1. James 4:7
    2. I Peter 5:5
    3. Matthew 26:39
    4. Eph. 5:21-22
    5. I Peter 2:13-14

Once we have submitted to God, our highest Authority, recognizing and following the chain of human authority in this world becomes easier.

    The Actives

    The Actives

Proactive people are value driven. They are still influenced by external stimuli (physical, social, or psychological) but their response is a value-based choice or response. They believe they are responsible for their own lives and our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions.  "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey

    Proactive sayings from Proverbs-

    1. Stay on top of your business (Prov. 24:27, 24:30-34, 6:6-11)
    2. Be careful of the people you hang around (Prov. 12:16, 22:24-25)
    3. Don't chase that bag (Prov. 23:4-5)
    4. See Wisdom (Prov. 22:17-18)
    5. Take heed not to be envious of sinners (Prov. 23:17-18, 24:1-2)

    Trust the Plan

    Trust the Plan

Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."  We're just taking a trip down memory lane through our 20s, 30s, and early 40s discussing how we had to come to understand that God has an expected end.  In order to see the fulfilment of His plan in our lives we must stay focused and stay the course.

    Weak...ness

    Weak...ness

In this episode we discuss the power of weakness.  This strength comes from our confession of dependance on God. When we are strong in abilities or resources we are tempted to do God's work on our own and that can lead to pride.  When we are weak, by allowing God to fill us with his power, we are stronger than we could ever be on our own.

    Scriptures:

    1. Matthew 26:41- Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

    2. II Corinthians 12:9-10-  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

    The Consignment

    The Consignment

To consign means to hand over, deliver formally/officially, or to transfer to another's custody or charge.  Two words that are synonymous with consign is commit and entrust.  1 Peter 5:7  says that we should give all of our cares to God because he cares about us.  In this episode we will be exploring what it means to consign our cares over to God... the good, the bad, and the in between.  The consignment must take place!

    More Than A Feeling

    More Than A Feeling

In this episode we discuss the contrasts of the worldly and biblical view of love for all mankind.  While there are some similarities, the biblical view takes us further than we're able to go on our own.  We need God's help to live and demonstrate a mature love that's in alignment with his Word.

World View: Self-centered, temporal, measured, romanticized, emotional, sensual, reckless. (influenced by media, society, peers, music, books, magazines, etc.)

    Biblical View: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

    • Is long suffering (can endure evil, injury, and provocation without being filled with resentment)
    • Is kind (Seeks to be useful. Apt and inclined to do all good offices in her power)
    • Envieth not (Suppresses envy)
    • Vaunteth not itself (subdues pride and vain-glory)
    • Not puffed up (Not self conceited)
    • Dosen't not behave itself unseemly (Is careful not to pass the bounds of decency)
    • Seeketh not her own (Is an utter enemy to selfishness)
    • Not easily provoked (Tempers and restrains passions)
    • Thinketh no  evil ( Never indulge suspicion without proofs. It will never be forward to suspect ill)
    • Rejoiceth not in iniquity ( It takes no pleasure in doing injury or hurt to any)
    • Rejoiceth in the truth (It takes no pleasure in the sins of others but is highly delighted to see them do well)
    • Beareth all things (Covers a multitude of sins. He is very unwilling to expose sins of his brother)
    • Believeth all things (Is apt to believe well of all, to entertain a good opinion of others)
    • Hopeth all things (It will hope well)
    • Endureth all things (It will endure as far as it can with any reason)
    • Never fails

    Mind the Mind

    Mind the Mind

In this episode we discuss the power of the mind and the journey to transformation and renewal.

    Points to ponder:

    • Everything starts with a thought, but the thought proceeds from the mind.
    • The right mindset is vital to victorious living.
    • It is important for us to come to grips with the fact that your life will not get straightened out until your mind does.
    • Satan attempts to set up "Strongholds" in our mind. A stronghold is an area in which we are held in bondage due to a certain way of thinking.
    • Satan knows  well if he can control our mind, he can control our actions.
    • Your mind must change in order to change your thinking.  If your thinking changes, you can change your feeling. If you can change your feelings, you can change your actions. And changing your actions, based on good thinking, can  change your life.

    Scriptures:

    1. Mark 7:21-22
    2. Matthew 22:37
    3. Romans 8:6-7
    4. Romans 12:2
    5. Hebrews 10:16

    I'm Meek Not Weak

    I'm Meek Not Weak

In this episode, we discuss the power, benefits, and operations of meekness.

    Additional points to ponder:

    • Meekness is one of the fruit of the Spirit that often gets lost in today's culture due to our aggressive, self-centered society.
    • Meekness is essentially an attitude or quality of heart whereby a person is willing to accept and submit without resistance to the will and desire of someone else. In the case of Christians, this is God.
    • Meekness is a controlled strength that puts everything in the hands of God. It is founded on a trust of the Lord, and it always denies self. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

    Pursuit of Peace

    Pursuit of Peace

From exotic vacations, to meditation, pursing peace is a big business in high demand.  It is  important to know the difference of worldly peace and the peace that God gives.

    Scriptures:

    1. Ps. 34:14
    2. John 14:26-27
    3. Phil. 4:6-7
    4. Isa. 26:3
    5. Romans 8:6
    6. Heb. 13:20-21
    7. I Thes. 5:23-24
    • Peace is part of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22)
    • True peace is not found in positive thinking, in absence of conflict, or in good feelings.  It comes from knowing that God is in control.
    • Know God, know peace, no God, no peace.
    • We must pursuit peace without, within, and with God. (harmony, reconciled, tranquil).

    The Inevitable...Affliction!

    The Inevitable...Affliction!

In this episode we discuss the topic of affliction and the right attitude to possess during our times of suffering.  We talk about a few different types of suffering and why we are afflicted.

    Scriptures:

    1. Psalm 34:19

    3. 2 Tim. 3:12
    4. Romans 5:3-5
    5. 2 Cor. 12:9-10
    • Affliction should promote learning  and turning.
    • A Godly view in our tribulations is what brings Him glory.
    • Afflictions are inevitable.
    • Enduring afflictions have great benefits.

    Gratitude

    Gratitude

Did you know that there is a connection between gratitude and overall happiness and well-being?  In this episode, we discuss the importance of possessing this valuable virtue. Many studies over the past decade have found that people who consciously count their blessings tend to be happier and less depressed. Even science and religion agree that gratitude increases happiness.

    Scriptures:

Ps. 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High.

Ps. 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.

I Thess. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
