    This podcast was created for the misfits and outliers. The ones who everyone assumed wouldn't make it. I am on a journey to cultivate individuals into Fearless Warriors through truth, acceptance, joy and love. It was through my darkness and pain of growing up in a broken home, physical and verbal abuse, prison, divorce, financial destitute and the contemplation of whether or not I wanted to live anymore that I found my true light. and who I am meant to be in this world. My goal is to expand our lives by developing a deeper understanding of who we are, what we want, and how we can attain a light worth shinning in the world all while building a community of like minded individuals in order to leave a legacy behind for those to come.     I am honored to have Darlene Marshall on the show!!  Darlene is a Holistic Wellness Coach who's been working in the fitness and wellness space since 2012. She's an expert at the intersection of fitness, wellness, and well-being. In 2021 Darlene was named America's Favorite Trainer in 2021 by BurnAlong.     Know Your Why: Part 3 The Conclusion

    Today we will wrap things up with the following areas:

    Journaling

    Journaling is a great habit if you want to know more about yourself. I mean, who doesn’t want to know more about themselves? It’s kind of a loaded questions, because most people pretend that they want to get a better understand of who they are and what they want out of life but in actuality they want to spend more time complaining about their circumstances and blame the world for their bullshit.

    • Gratitude
      • All you need is a pen and paper, pick one thing, the first thing that comes to your mind. It doesn’t need to be something monumental either.
    • Reflecting
      • You’ll quickly see the pattern in your thinking, life, and behaviors by reflecting on yesterday.
    • Application
      • You will use this as a action plan to ensure you continue to move forward in life.
    • Convenient
      • You can do it anywhere. A few minutes are all that’s required.

    Writing Prompts

    Consider using writing prompts to add to the level of self-discovery. These are just ideas or questions that direct your writing.

    There are lists available online and in books. Here are a few to get you started:

    • If I had an extra hour each day, how would I spend it?
    • What was my favorite job of all time?
    • What did I like about it?
    • What do I want my obituary to say about me?

    Trauma

    Trauma, especially in childhood, can have a huge impact on your thoughts and behavior later in life. It doesn’t matter if the cause of the trauma seems silly as an adult. The fact that it was traumatic at the time is what’s important.

    Being afraid of a bully or losing your pet in first grade might seem inconsequential today, but it wasn’t then. It had an impact.

    Of course, bigger things like abuse or losing a parent can have even bigger consequences.

    Final Tips

    A few final tips for the committed. For the ones that truly want to make a difference in their lives. For those that believe that anything can happen if you dedicate the time, effort and mindset to overcome any obstacle.

    Conclusion

    We are composed of our values, experiences, habits, and preferences. The mistakes we repeat limit us. Our passions remain hidden.

    Repeating Mistakes

    We often view these areas of our lives where we frequently suffer from “bad luck”. Luck, goo and bad, is evenly distributed across all of humanity. If you have an area of your life where you seem to be unlucky consistently, you’r3 making one or more mistakes repeatedly.

    Meditation- How Does Your Mind Work?

    Our minds are very different than they appear to be. There’s the real world, and then there’s what’s going on between our ears. We all have a different view of the world a different perception. The thoughts, noise and chatter going on in our heads taint our perceptions. It’s not easy to see the world and life without these filters changing our perspective in some way.

    Start a daily meditation practice. You only need 15-30 minutes each day to get significant benefits. There’s a plethora of information to help you get started, from books to videos to guided meditation.

    Darkness & You

    We all have our approach or method for dealing with discomfort. Some are relatively harmless, while others can be quite destructive. It’s possible to have strategies for dealing with discomfort that are actually beneficial!

    Discomfort is your mind’s way of protecting you. This is great if you’re about to risk your life, but it’s misguided the majority of the time. Success is heavily dependent on the ability to overcome this discomfort and take appropriate action.

    Habits

    Your habits control your destiny. It’s not the amazing things you do or fail to do once a year that make a difference. It’s the things you do day after day that add up over time.

    The key to increasing the odds of being successful is creating goals that are aligned with your purpose and values, and them creating habits that bring you closer to those goals. So, do your habits support your goals?

    How to Find Your Passion

    When you were a child, you were passionate about a particular career. The market may have tanked for becoming a cowboy or a dragon slayer, but you also lost your way. You allowed people to change your mind. Or may have gotten a little lazy. Maybe you were more interested in impressing others than following your dream.

    Today’s episode is going to be a 3 part series, all about Know Your Why.

    In this episode we are going to cover the following topics:

    Benjamin Franklin said, “There are three things extremely hard: Steel, diamonds, and to know one’s self.”

    1. Do you believe there is more to learn about you? Your life? What your here on this earth for?
    2. Do you even think you have a purpose?
    3. Do you feel like you already know everything there is to know about you? I’m sure you do, many people feel the same way, but you’d be wrong
    Funny thing is we spend so much time focusing on other people’s perception of what we hope they will see in us, or value to the world and yet the irony is they themselves are doing the exact same thing, therefore no one is actually paying attention to you only their own hope of what they want people to see them as.


    We avoid looking at ourselves because we are afraid of what we might see, so we avoid examining ourselves and focus on how we can “help” others to distract us from seeing our truth.

    As unpleasant as the truth maybe it holds the secret to greater levels of personal success

    When you understand yourself, you can:

    • gain control over yourself
    • avoid your weaknesses and common pitfalls
    • understand and deal with your negative habits
    • have healthier relationships
    • choose a life path that suits you
    • find enthusiasm and happiness
    We are all suffering from a case of mistaken identity. We have been programmed by our environmental dispositions, which shape our mindset, though process and daily actions in life.We repeat the same mistakes over and over, but don’t have a clue we are doing it. On the off chance we recognize our repeated mistakes, we don’t understand why we’re doing them or how to change it.

    Success is much more challenging without self-knowledge

    To be highly successful, it’s necessary to:

    • Set big goals by having a vision that are meaningful to you
    • Utilize your strengths and avoid your weaknesses by creating a plan
    • Deal with stress in a productive manner with an application process
    • Know how to motivate yourself in order to execute
    • overcome fear
    • perserve

    Lies, Corruption and SSRI's: Big Pharma is Destroying Lives


    On Today's show I have Ben Bathen is a brilliant computer engineer who once worked for Google, EA Sports.  He helped create games like Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto.   He had a growing career as a programmer yet like so many others during his mid-20s he was stressed by an 80-plus-hour-a-week programming job. A psychologist pressured him to take medications. Ben didn’t like the idea, but after a lot of convincing, he caved and over several years took a series of different psychiatric drugs. 


    Between 2004 and 2008 his therapist spent every session convincing him to take SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) better known as antidepressants, including Prozac and Lexapro.   In 2017 he had a severe adverse reaction to Lexapro and called the therapists emergency phone line from Springfield, VA.  She then filed criminal charges against him in Chula Vista, CA for PC 422 criminal threats and lied under oath while withholding the fact that the medication caused the incidents.  


    He was sentenced to two years in the California State Penitentiary and served 10.5 months at the Chino California Institution for Men, and the Sierra Conservation Center.

    The FDA warns that SSRI's have certain behaviors associated with them including “anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, akathisia (severe restlessness), hypomania, and mania.”

    From the FDA's Pediatric Postmarketing Pharmacovigilance and Drug Utilization Review(Escitalopram), published November 22, 2017

    “Reviewer’s Comments: Aggression collectively refers to, unless otherwise specified, suicide, homicide, and other forms of violence. The difference between these forms of violence is their intended target. Escitalopram is labeled in Section 5, Warnings and Precautions, for “anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, aggressiveness, impulsivity, akathisia (psychomotor restlessness), hypomania, and mania.”

    15 Rules For Becoming a Spartan

    Today's episode I focus on what does it take to build a character, mindset and lifestyle that we should be living by to ensure that we cultivate the kind of person we want to become.  All of us should hav a creed, a manifesto, one that is created to hold us to a higher standard to push us to become the best person that we can become.  Here are the top 15 rules that Spartan's expected from their warriors. 


    1. The greatest shame for a Spartan was to return home alive from a lost battle. So too.  Do not return from a challenge having not given everything.  
    2. Only consume plain food and beer eat to the point of satisfaction.  This will not only bring about a leanness for battle but also foster mental fortitude.
    3. Seek out intense competition.  You will push yourself much harder. 
    4. Every Spartan should undergo a right of passage.  A physical or mental trial.  Once completed, you are born again, better than ever.
    5. Speed, strength and agility are less essential than stamina, grit, endurance, and courage.
    6. Accepting death will allow yo auto live your life courageously.  It unshackles the mind from the limitations of fear, brining forth your true potential.
    7. Do not engage in gossip, only engage in conversation that will nourish and strengthen your spirit.
    8. Fight fr a good cause, use very ounce of your being to push that cause further and do not be afraid to defend it.
    9. Surround yourself with people who are ruthlessly devoted to becoming their greatest selves.
    10. 10.A leader does not watch on safely in the clear.
    11. 11.Continuously introduce yourself to difficult situations where you are forced to either sink or swim.  A great Spartan must have the ability to quickly adapt. 
    12. 12.Partake in structured, organized and well respected training programs, ensuring you see them through to the finish.
    13. 13.Refuse to be a victim of circumstance.  Learn to be self reliant and prepared for any situation.
    14. 14.Find ways to implement short bursts of discomfort into your daily life.  This will ensure growth and prevent you from falling into sloth.
    15. 15.Dedicate yourself to perpetual physical training, regardless of circumstances and feelings.

    Fear drives us all.  We look at the fastest way to solve your challenges by using a Positive Psychology Method Called Direct Solutions.  Direct Solutions require the ability to deal with discomfort at a high level.

    On Today's show  I have a incredible guest, Dr. Robert Yoho.  He spent three decades as a cosmetic surgeon after a career as an emergency physician. His generalist training gives him perspective and allows him to avoid favoring any medical specialty. 

    ​He has had little dealings with hospitals, big Pharma, or insurance companies before he wrote this book. No one has ever considered him a “whale” prescriber or device implanter. He retired from medical practice in 2019.

    ✪ American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery: fellow, trustee, officer, and past-president.

    ✪ American Board of Cosmetic Surgery: passed board exams and twice re-certified.

    ✪ American Board of Emergency Medicine: passed board exams and twice re-certified.

    ✪ American Association Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accredited surgical/medical practice for over 25 years. 

    Healthcare is the top cause of all our overdue debts and personal bankruptcy. Our medical spending per person is double that of other countries’, but fully half the treatments are ineffective or harmful. Immense, predatory industries such as angioplasty and coronary artery bypass surgery victimize us. These procedures cause complications and deaths, but few patients survive even a day longer. Most back and endoscopic knee surgeries are equally worthless.

    Seventy percent of us are on prescriptions, and 20 percent take over five. One in six uses psychiatric medicine, which commonly causes irreversible brain damage and premature death. Millions are now addicted to prescription opioids. Fifty-thousand people die each year from overdoses.

    The FDA allows big Pharma to falsify the studies required to patent drugs. These corporations hire armies of ghostwriters to stuff websites and medical journal articles with marketing lies. Finding the truth is now nearly impossible. But all this gets overlooked as the companies pay billions of dollars in criminal settlements nearly every year.

    Money short-circuits everyone’s integrity, but there is an alternative. Patients and doctors can still prevail. Learn the system, and you can too.
