    From There, To Here

The most important factor to a healthy well-being is feeling connected. From There, To Here is a podcast that will infuse strength, positivity and a sense of community into your life.  We discuss significant topics that explore our personal journeys From There, To Here, as well as feature insightful guests’ stories.

    Meet Shannon

Shannon is an anxiety driven, overthinking, perfectionist who stresses over not b eing perfect.  She is blessed to be a mom of three miracles.  Her oldest is adopted out of the foster care system.  After 11 dark years of infertility, she was surprised with a twin pregnancy. Shannon turned in her special education teacher hat to fulfill her dream career as a behavioral and educational consultant.

    Meet Jess

Jess is a teacher at heart and a natural leader. Her goal is to leave sparkles of positivity wherever she goes. The practice of finding joy hasn't always been easy - from loving and leaving an addict, to finding self-love and new love, to navigating a nightmare of an adoption process - she is stronger for enduring challenges and is now living her own dream life.  Much of her time is spent with her son, but her life wouldn’t be complete without also contributing to the field of education in various ways.

    40. Guest Interview with Amanda - Legacy of a Late Husband

Imagine being 4 months pregnant, having a toddler at home and your husband suddenly and unexpectedly passes away.  This was the reality for our guest in this episode.  As parents, we often find ourselves pondering the legacy we will leave behind for our children once we are no longer here. In this episode, we have the privilege of interviewing Amanda, the owner of Small Legacies. Amanda sheds light on the intricate topic of death and dying, as she bravely shares the heart-wrenching tale of how her late husband departed this world.

Amanda opens up about the factors that aided her in moving forward and reconstructing her life, refusing to let her late husband's death define her family. She candidly reveals to our hosts how she continues to honor his memory even seven years later. However, Amanda's journey doesn't end there. She has also managed to manifest her dreams and achieve a significant goal – delivering a powerful speech at TEDxOshkosh. Her talk centers around the defense of participation awards, as she passionately argues that "everyone is going through a battle you can't see." Drawing from personal experience, she recounts the challenging first day she returned to work after losing her beloved husband.

Through Amanda's story, we are reminded of the resilience of the human spirit and the strength it takes to rebuild after tragedy strikes. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all who have faced adversity, showing us that even in our darkest moments, there is hope for a brighter future.

    35. Guest Interview with Terri - From Surviving to Thriving: Resilience After Childhood Trauma

Join hosts Shannon and Jess as they sit down with their guest, Terri, for an eye-opening and deeply impactful interview. Terri's childhood was marked by numerous traumatic events, and listeners should be prepared to hear her share these stories as she bravely answers questions from the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) quiz.

From a young age, Terri experienced the pain of feeling abandoned. She witnessed her mother being physically abused and endured the sexual abuse of a stepfather. As if that wasn't enough, Terri also had to cope with attending 21 different schools and facing food insecurities.

These early experiences left Terri feeling unsettled throughout much of her adulthood. Terri's adult journey involved two subsequent marriages, struggles with alcoholism, and difficulties making genuine connections. With determination and the love for her daughters as her driving force, Terri sought help. She attended the Betty Ford Center for a 28-day inpatient program, entering with a smile on her face, ready to face her demons.

She feels blessed to have a wonderful family.  Join Shannon, Jess, and Terri as they delve into her remarkable story of resilience, growth, and the power of love. Prepare to be inspired and reminded that our past does not have to define our future.
