Mal is out, Hiller strikes out, CrossFit Journal Article "A better warm up"

The news exploded while lives on air.

We talk a swing a miss from Hiller, Mal annouces she's out for another season and what a better warm up really is in CrossFit.

Written by Greg Glassman, Published April 2003

"In commercial gyms everywhere, warming up constitutes little more than spending fifteen or twenty minutes on a bike, treadmill, or stair climber. While better than nothing, this approach to warming up is largely a waste of time in that it will not improve flexibility, does not involve the whole body or major functional movements, misses an ideal opportunity for reinforcing and practicing some critical exercises, and poorly prepares an athlete for rigorous athletic training." - Greg Glassman

The potential future of the CrossFit Games "Service Open"

The potential future of the CrossFit Games "Service Open"

The "Service Open" is back! But what is it, why do we have it and where could the future of this competition go? The history of CrossFit and and it's training methodology is rooted deep within our First Responders and Military communities. It was CrossFit that first recognized that these individuals' success in the line of duty and field of war could hinge on their general physical preparedness and potentially be the difference between life and death for themselves and/or others. The "Service Open" is a competitive, tip of the cap, if you will to these brave men and women... but what more could it become?

The CrossFit Journal | Seniors and Kids

Written by Greg Glassman, Published 2003

"Our kids and our seniors squat, deadlift, push-press, push-jerk, clean and jerk, snatch, pull-up, dip, push-up, bench press, back/hip extend, sit-up, and rope climb. Less weight, fewer reps, more rest, whatever is required to allow exposure to the movements at a challenging but tolerable and intensity is all that is needed to accommodate most special needs."

Programming contingency workouts for CrossFit Events and Affiliate Classes

Programming contingency workouts for CrossFit Events and Affiliate Classes

We have seen it happen 3 times in the less than 2 years with major events in the CrossFit space. 2022 CrossFit Games, 2023 Rogue Invitational and the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza ALL had a either a massive event change or multiple event changes due to the weather. The question isn't should we move everything indoors... the questions is "How do we program contingency plans to best match the stimulus and movement patterns of the original Event?" Bill and Chase go down the rabbit hole and discuss what to think about, how to preserve and what is okay to change when it comes to changing programming due to weather.

Analyzing the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Team Programming

Analyzing the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Team Programming

Wodapalooza's team format is one of the best in all of CrossFit and second place is a distant second place. Filled with perennial games individual athletes and fan favorite banding together in Teams of 3, it is truly one of the most fun and popular competitions for fans and athletes alike. But, along with that excitement comes massive expectations and must be matched with good and exciting programming. Bill and Chase sit down and analyze the 2024 TYR Wodpalooza Team Programming.

Analyzing the TYR Wodapalooza Indi Programming w/ Dylan Malitsky

Rain or shine, the show must go on.

TYR Wodapalooza is the biggest spectacle in the CrossFit space outside of the CrossFit Games. From the Miami Beach vibes, club like atmosphere on the competition floor and to some of the most iconic competition venues you will ever see or compete at.

TYR Wodapalooza, is a destination event. This year there were it's challenges trying to solve the past years seating issues that's and fighting mother nature herself but that is not all that took place that weekend.

Loud and Live's VP of Sports and Entertainment, Dylan Malitsky, joins the show to talk all things TYR Wodapalooza.

BORING! We fixed the CrossFit Games Team Competition.

BORING! We fixed the CrossFit Games Team Competition.

The Affiliate Cup isn't what it once was and let's be honest, it never will be again. "Super Teams" have taken over the team competition, the Rich Froning Dynasty is dead, and the excitement of the team competition hasn't been the same since 2017. So what do we do? Well, we do what we do best. WE FIX IT! Chase and Bill sit down and map out an entirely new team competition system to now only bring back the fans of the Teams but the excitement of a TRUE team competition.

Behind the .COM Programming with Michele Letendre

Behind the .COM Programming with Michele Letendre

General Manager of CrossFit Dave Castro has kicked off a new series of guest programmers for the Workout of the Day on CrossFit.com. CrossFit has published a Workout of the Day every day since 2001. It has evolved to include scaling options and intended stimulus and is designed to be accessible to everyone — the new CrossFit athlete, the seasoned veteran, and anyone in between.

This latest guest for .com's programming is Michele Letendre.

Letendre is a six-time CrossFit Games veteran, former CrossFit Seminar Staff member, and founder and head coach at Deka CrossFit in Blainville, Quebec. In 2016, when Letendre retired from a career competing at the CrossFit Games, she knew she wanted to build something that would reflect her experience as an athlete, long-time coach, and Seminar Staff member.

She put her experience to use and founded Deka Comp, where she’s gone on to program and coach elite athletes, including 2023 Rogue Invitational champion and five-time Games podium finisher Pat Vellner.

Chase and Bill sit back and analyze the programming along side guest programmer Michele Letendre and walk through the potential patterns and processes they leaned on to create their workouts.
