    Oh Sheep! Psalm 23:6

    Oh Sheep! Psalm 23:6

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord forever.” Psalms 23:6

In this verse, King David testifies that God has been taking care of Him
throughout the ups and downs of life. And he’s concluded that there is not
a situation, a sin or a trial that God won’t deliver him from if he humbly ask.
David also mentions that he is committed to “dwelling in the house of the
Lord.” Just a sheep is most taken care of and protected when he decides to
stay close to the herd and his shepherd so we are most protected and
blessed when we decide to live close to Christ and His church.
In this lesson, you learn about how important it is to give God the glory for all He’s
done and how we must commit ourselves to living in a community of
believers, which is Christ’ church. For by doing so we protect ourselves and
    are cared for.

Today we jump into Psalm 23 verse 4.

To get sheep to a new pasture, a shepherd must be willing to lead his sheep through unknown terrain. Sheep don't do well with unfamiliar ground because they see it as death defying. However, a good shepherd does not worry but leads the sheep with confidence because he has already tested the trail and knows his sheep will make it.

This Sunday, we will learn that, at times, God will test our limits for the sake of getting us to a better place in life. Even when we fear the uncharted territory where He is taking us, we must remind ourselves that He's been there before and knows we will persevere.

Oh Sheep! He Leads Me In Paths of Righteousness

Oh Sheep! He Leads Me In Paths of Righteousness

“He leads me in paths of righteousnes  for His name sake”  Psalms 23:3

Sheep are creatures of habit. They naturally graze where they’ve been before because its familiar.  If sheep are left alone to follow their instincts then they will continually go back to the  same pasture they’ve been which in turn will lead them to overgraze and over defecation on the land which in turn will cause the sheep to starve and be sicked by the excrement . A good shepherd however will continue to lead the sheep to virgin pastures so they can stay healthy and feed. In this lesson teach how God knows full well our past mistakes and the temptations that woo us to them.

Oh Sheep! He Fights For Us Week1

Oh Sheep! He Fights For Us Week1

For the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23
It 's easy to fixate on the fact that Jesus is our Shepherd, that guides us in life, leads us in the places we need to be led. But there's another side to his shepherding, which is when we journey off on our own, when we get lost, when we try to find greener pastures.
He will not just let us go, without a fight. He 's going to fight for you because he's committed to you. If someone causes you to go down the wrong path, if someone provokes you to go down that path that he's not leading, that God is not wanting you to go down to how many know God is passionate about that as well. What this means is you have to now deal and contend with a jealous God. Romans 8:38, 39 tells us how jealous. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor death, nor any other created thing shall be able to. What separate us from the love of God, who is in Christ Jesus our Lord?

HVC welcomes Special Guest, Brigette Metcalf!

There is sweetness in the struggle!

"And he started to share. He was so like it was like I was talking to a winemaster or something like that. And he starts to tell me all about it. He said, Bridget, it's not about being in Italy. It 's not being in Napa Valley. It 's not about these different locations. He goes, It 's all about the struggle. And I was like, what? He goes, It 's all about the struggle. So Jeffrey starts to say, Bridget, the best wines the vine had to go through the biggest struggle. He goes, if the soil is too soft and it doesn't have any adversity in it, he goes, the grape is not as sweet. He goes, but it has a little rocks and it has a little bit of a hard time getting through the soil and stuff like that. It has to fight to go down into the soil to be stable. He goes, that makes the sweetest grape. And I was like, can I use that for a sermon? I literally started writing this down as he was telling me this story. And I thought, wow, is that not what our life is like? We think that the struggle is going to take us out. We think that it's going to wipe us off the map. But guess what it does? It actually makes us stronger. It makes us sweeter. It makes us appreciate life more. It makes us kinder. And you know what? It makes us more attractive. People want to be around those sweeter people. When I'm bitter, nobody wants to be around me. When I'm ugly, nobody wants to be around me. But when I give it to Jesus and I go through the struggle, it doesn't say that he'll take us out, takes us through takes us through the struggle. That 's what God is wanting to do in our lives. He wants to make us sweeter. He wants to make us more generous. He wants us to care about things that are beyond us, not just in our own little world."

What's That In Your Hand/You Have A High Calling To Love Others/Pastor Charlie Rapp

What's That In Your Hand/You Have A High Calling To Love Others/Pastor Charlie Rapp

Exodus 3:10  “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Prior to the burning bush Moses was content living his life in the desert and raising his family in safety.  But God had a different plan in mind.  For He wanted Moses to take His second chance in life and help his nation get out of slavery. In this lesson teach how Christ has called us not to play it safe with the new life He’s given us but rather to use it to help others so they can enjoy freedom.

When God asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?” it wasn’t a question He didn’t know the answer to, rather He wanted Moses to realize what He was able to do by taking that which He deemed insignificant and transform it into something amazing for his glory.  We hope you see Yourself through the life of Moses. From his standing up to Pharaoh, to leading Israel out of Egypt, then to leading them through the desert. That with God all things are possible if we only believe. We learn that before we can ever be used by God we must first know who we are in Christ.
