Hearing God

This episode of Hearing God is packed full of strategies that can help us move forward in our capacity to hear God, especially if we are feeling stuck or as though we can’t hear God. Gary & Jane share many practical ideas and examples. The prophetic activation is encountering God through the gift-giver activation.

Children often hear God easier than adults as they don’t seem to have the same ‘hangups’, ‘junk’, or preconceived ideas about what God sounds like. They tend to trust that if they ask God a question, He will answer them immediately. In this episode of the Hearing God Podcast, we cover fantastic principles to help our children increase their faith and hear from God. As usual, we share numerous examples and ideas for practising.

This episode is the second part of how we can grow in our ability to hear God (episode 8). It is full of practical ways we can practice hearing God. Two common questions people have are “What if I get it wrong?” and “Is this just me or is it God?” Gary and Jane cover these questions, as well as share numerous practical examples.

God desires to communicate with us. He longs to be involved in every aspect of our life and for us to be intimate with Him. Prophesying is hearing God's heart for others. It is exciting, rewarding, and a privilege, but it also carries the weight of responsibility. We also cover important principles for prophesying over children.  The outcome is that we can release the Father’s heart in a way that keeps everyone safe and reflects God accurately. 1 Corinthians 14:3 states that a prophetic word should encourage, strengthen, and comfort. But what happens if you hear/sense/see/feel something negative about someone? This episode contains practical strategies you can implement if you are prophesying and hear something negative. Attention to cleansing your life in preparation for hearing God is also covered. A prophetic word is hearing or receiving something from God for someone else and then communicating it to them. It is hearing God’s heart for them. We emphasize that a prophetic word should not replace hearing God for yourself but often confirms what God has already revealed to you. Learning to recognise God’s voice is crucial and comes through intimacy with Father God, Holy Spirit, and Jesus. This episode of Hearing God unpacks the four different voices we may hear – God’s, Satan’s, other peoples, and our own voice. We look at what each voice sounds like and give practical examples from our own lives. We unpack the ‘first thought principle’ of hearing God’s voice, conditional on if you are in a great place with God. We emphasize that we need to look at what ‘fruit’ the voice will bring. Listeners are encouraged to ask God questions.

It is so important to learn to hear God for ourselves. Sometimes we may feel we can’t hear God, but God uses a variety of ways to get our attention. We are individuals and God, as our creator, knows us intimately. He will speak to us in ways that make sense to us. God is not limited to communicating with us in only one way. Spending time and becoming intimate with God is vital. 

God’s desire is for communication with us. He wants to have a relationship with us and share thoughts, insights, solutions, strategies, and secrets with us. If you want God to speak to you, He will always answer you. He is a loving God who wants to communicate with us. We can hear God for ourselves. This episode contains keys to help you hear from God. 

 Gary and Jane share their first memorable experiences of the father heart of God. They share how our identity is often based on what our earthly father’s relationship with us was like, and how we often view God through the lens of our relationship with our earthly father.
