Homicide Inc. - Compelling True Crime Stories

In 1966 Texas learned the true fury of firearms when its capital, Austin, became the home of America’s first mass shooting. At the time, the concept that anyone anywhere could be randomly gunned down by a stranger was unheard of. No one saw it coming. That fateful day former marine and trained sniper, Charles Whitman, climbed up the stairs of the University of Texas clock tower and open-fired on those below. It was the catalyst that coined the term ‘mass shooting’. It sparked debates about gun laws and diminished responsibility and paved the way for the shooters that sadly to this day, continue to follow in his footsteps. ★Enjoy!

STORY 2: Alexander Urtula was hours away from graduating at Boston University. He had everything going for him, and then he jumped from a parking garage. It was a desperate move to silence the relentless abuse from his nagging girlfriend. She told him to kill himself on more than one occasion and he finally did. Did she commit a crime in this case? In this mini podcast we'll look into all the currently known details of the baffling and ongoing jailbreak saga of Sheriff Vicky White and her convict lover Casey White. The two left a detention center together at the end of April 2022, in a supposed trip to the courthouse to which they never arrived. It was quickly determined that this was all planned and the two were having a special relationship unknown to anyone else. Sheriff Vicky White was the assistant director of the detention center where Casey White was being held while awaiting a murder for hire trial. He was already serving a 75 year sentence for a load of crimes committed in 2015.

Back in 2001 the tabloids went nuts over a horrific murder that took place in LA. A beautiful aspiring young fashion designer was brutally attacked and murdered by a deranged killer in her Hollywood bungalow. She was murdered as she was preparing for a date with movie star Ashton Kutcher. He was late to pick her up and perhaps had he not been the course of this gruesome true crime story would have had a different ending. Ashley Ellerin is one of at least 4 victims of Michael Gargiulo, the so-called Hollywood Ripper. The 4th escaped and testified at his murder trial. Listen on for the full horrifying story.  ★Enjoy!

It was a fridgid Manhattan night in December of 1979, and Peter Vronsky found himself stranded in the city for a few days. Having run out of money, he decided to stay at a seedy hotel on 42nd Street, where he had a strange encounter in the elevator. What happened next haunts him to this day. When he entered the hotel hallway, it was littered with ashes and an  awful odor of  burning chicken feathers. He then discovered that a hideously gruesome scene had taken place in one of the rooms: two women's torsos on burning twin beds, their heads and hands missing. The man on the elevator would later be identified as serial killer Richard Cottingham. Years later a young woman would seek information on her birth mother who turns out to be one of the murdered women in that hotel room. She decided to confront the killer and gather as much information about her mother face to face with a serial killer. ★Enjoy!

In this episode of the Homicide Inc. podcast we're going to hear LA Cop Killer Christopher Dorner's manifesto in it's entirety. It's lengthy and lucid, occasionally humorous and hypocritical, and promising the violence that Dorner ultimately carried out. The manifesto goes out of its way to portray Dorner as a non-violent individual, saying it's not in his "DNA" to be a bully, and that waging war on the LAPD has become a "necessary evil" he doesn't enjoy. Dorner, who's black, believes he was unfairly let go from the LAPD force, and he says in his manifesto that the LAPD hasn't changed much since LA-area cops were caught on tape beating Rodney King.
