Big ups to our residents, 2grams, as we welcome them back to our podcast series with another LIVE recording from CODA, Toronto. Now here's a doozy for ya!! Canadian born Jason Hodges first arrived in the house music scene in late 1991, taking on Toronto's underground party scene he developed his DJing skills on the decks with the likes of New York - New Jersey sounds. Hard-hitting beats with deep grooves became the signature sound for Hodges - whether in the studio, on the dance floors; from local Toronto gigs, to the surrounding towns across Canada, Hodges was growing and coming into his own. Somehow...amongst the insanity of our 10-year anniversary jam back in November, someone in the booth remembered to hit the 'record' button!! And we're so happy that Cosella did just that. Andreas Rizek (Cosella) opened this night with our main man, Graham Plant. This mix was a perfect set up for the storm that ensued afterwards. Thick baselines, deep grooves, and solid vocal samples throughout this hour made this set perfect to warm up the joint. Who knew we'd have sweat dripping from the ceilings later on lol!! For those who attended the night, we hope this brings back some great memories for you. We were so happy to have hosted this at a secret venue, as it really brought back that old-school party feel. This November is a significant milestone for us - houseaddict is now 10 years young!! That being said, we have a series of special offerings this month, and it all kicks off with this unique podcast by our resident, Graham Plant. Graham had the opportunity to open for Lee Burridge back in September. Coincidentally, this jam was one of the last few bangers hosted by Toronto's legendary footwork bar & afterhours. Yes!! At long last we've been able to capture Mike LIVE in action at one of our jams! July was an intense month for him, as he curated and performed at events showcasing the likes of Robag Wruhme, Max Cooper, Robert Babicz, + more.... We're ecstatic to launch this month's podcast with a bang! houseaddict resident Graham Plant opened footwork bar & afterhours for Josh Wink on June 1st, and we were able to record the bad-boy. Graham's started to make his way through the underground of Toronto in the past six months - featured in the hottest new Parkdale venue BLK BOX, Cabal on King St., and he's been able to rock the dancefloor of footwork for the second time now. On April 26 we helped Members Only move their monthly residency, Evening Standard, over to BLK BOX, in the depths of The Great Hall. This night was special in so many ways, not to mention the fact we brought RECLOOSE over from New Zealand for this one : ) Members Only set the stage for Recloose in the way they know best - hot ass disco and 4-on-the-floor house music!! It's safe to say these dudes almost stole the show, but hey.... it was their night to shine!! Rewind to Summertime 2012 - there was moment in disco, when THE MAN from down-unda decided to visit Toronto... TORNADO WALLACE jammed with us late August at Wrongbar as a part of our Summer Mixtape Sessions. This recording never really happened... or did it? Several months after this devastating jam, Nav Sangha presented us with a cassette tape he found in the boom-box behind the bar. "Dude - is this yours?" Nav asked. "I think we hit record when Lewie was in the booth, but who really knows. I'll leave it with you bro." The answer is YES people. This hour is full of 12" vinyl, mixed in with electronic effects that are beyond the world we call Earth. January 25th was an amazing evening in Toronto. We had the pleasure of hosting 6th Borough Project (Graeme Clark + Craig Smith) straight outta Scotland for an amazing Robbie Burns Day jam. As you can imagine - DISCO was the theme for lovers. Fortunately we stacked the local line-up with some amazing talent, and one of the highlights was Cyclist : ) Cyclist (aka Mark Penner) did an amazing job of leading the party down that nu-disco path, and generated an amazing vibe that got all of our friends moving. Fortunately, this is the first of several parties we have planned with this dude for 2013. Stay tuned for his return to Sazerac on March 2nd, as we host our second instalment of nu-disco parties --> this time with the Brilliantine label, and guest from San Fran - EDIT MURPHY (Smoke 'N Mirrors).
