ImpactBank's the Kickass Koach podcast is designed to share stories--my own and others--to inspire, educate and encourage these new leaders to maximize and leverage the early days in a new role and AVOID the common mistakes. Each week stories will be used to illuminate our shared experience and tips will be offered to get you thinking and support you in finding your own solutions.     346 - Love is the Path to Well-Being

    Expressing affection for and even respect for another, expands feelings of well-being in you and them.

    Again I was inspired by the drama in Canada about the Convoy that has since left Ottawa. What drew otherwise law-abiding and reasonable Canadians to engage in sending a message. What attracted others, who wouldn't participate, to quietly support. What are the lessons to leaders?

    I refer to fringe in this episode. I am referencing the most hateful elements of this convoy: the misogynist, white supremacist, anti-semite and homophobic elements that cloaked themselves in the pain and anxiety of others. Those openly calling for the over-through of a democratically elected government.

    Ask yourself: How do I express respect for and affection for my colleagues so they are able to experience me as an ally and want to trust and engage with me? Look for how this expands overall wellbeing for them and your organization?

    Our well-being is expanded by our experience of agency.

    This week I was inspired by observing, from a distance, the "Freedom" Convoy that has a few locations across Canada. As I post this I hear a few have been cleared but still the "movement" stands as an example of wherein a greater sense of agency may have made all the difference.

    How can I expand my feeling of agency and drop the feeling of a victim in the midst of a pandemic during which my life was so deeply disrupted? HOW CAN I take responsibility to be empowered rather than allow my emotions to imprison me?

    Our well-being is about knowing and choosing our priority and ensuring every decision and choice we make is aligned with this priority.

    In this episode I share how a client when completing her medical training learned how to stand up for her priority against a system that wanted her to comply with the hierarchy. She believes she is a better doctor now for having done so.

    How are you setting your main priorities to ensure they help expand your wellbeing and ensuring each decision you make aligns with it? Honour your own wellbeing and you will see increased health, wealth and happiness in the long term.
