2002 Pepsi Blue Review | Drinking 20 Year Old Soda

2002 Pepsi Blue Review | Drinking 20 Year Old Soda

In this cheat day review we go back to 2002 and try the original release of Pepsi Blue!

Through late 2001 early 2002, test version bottles of pepsi blue bottled and given to people close to Pepsi to try.
These test version bottles were quickly made with the labels being made of paper instead of the standard plastic. This early label also had a line that read “cola with a burst of blue flavor”

All the initial taste tests of the soda were full of high praise.

After 9 months of testing, the name pepsi blue was trademarked on April 25th 2002

In May 2002, a CNN news article quoted Gary Rodkin, CEO of PepsiCo North America at the time, saying “Pepsi Blue has the potential to reinvigorate the cola category”

Pepsi put all their money on Pepsi blue on being a healthy competitor to Coca colas new soda Vanilla Coke. In which Pepsi announced Pepsi blue a week before Vanilla Coke launched on May 8th 2002.

Also in May Pepsi also released a green soda from Sobe called Mr Green. This was a green colored soda that tasted like Dr Pepper but also had ginseng added to it for an energy kick.

August 2002 Pepsi blue was released nationwide in Canada and the United States. It’s packaging and commercials we’re targeting the teenage demographic.
The packaging displayed a tribal tattoo looking design with a sharp knife looking font spelling out the world blue. The soda was described as berry cola fusion with its official flavor simply labeled as “Berry”

People who tried Pepsi blue compared it to a blueberry and cotton candy sweet taste that was much more sugary than regular Pepsi.

Commercials hit tv screens featuring popular bands at the time like papa roach and Sev.

Promotion for Pepsi blue went through the product placement route, making appearances in Garfield: the movie and the Italian job

Upon release it sold fairly well on the basis it was new and had a huge promotional push. But it was plagued with controversy from the start with the ingredient Blue 1 that gave the soda its bright blue color.

Even though blue 1 of brilliant blue as it’s also called is non toxic and safe in food and drink, people still questioned it as it was banned in several countries.

In September of 2003 Blue 1 was slapped with a public health advisory alert of its toxicity when used in feeding tubes. Even though toxicity and death was only reported through the use of feeding tubes, the relation of it being used in Pepsi blue wasn’t a good sign.

May 2004, not lasting more than 2 years on the market pepsi blue was discontinued in the us and canada

Why it failed was a variety of reasons, but the two largest were the blue 1 controversy and the lagging sales after its first year. Pepsi blue seemed to have followed the fate of crystal pepsi with its huge sales in the beginning and then a massive slowdown in sales right after.

But In other countries, Pepsi blue lived on.

Late 2002 Pepsi blue was released overseas for a limited time in the Philippines.
It also was available in India in 2003.

The Netherlands saw a limited release during the holidays of 2003.

In other countries later on saw pop singer Britney Spears promoting the drink in other countries like Vietnam.

Throughout the mid to late 2000’s Pepsi blue popped up in various countries in Asia such as Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.

For a limited time In 2011 Pepsi blue came back to the Philippines under the name Pepsi pinas. The soda saw such huge sales that once the limited run ended, it was re-released permanently as Pepsi blue.

For the longest time Pepsi blue was a permanent brand in Indonesia from the late 2000’s up to 2020. Being sold in a more basic looking packaging. The Indonesian version was blue tinted but tasted more l

Middle Aged Man Tries To Sound Deep (Cringe)

Nothing is more unstoppable than a man who has walked through hell and back for the people he loved but have never loved him back.
This man has dealt with battles inside his mind in a month than most have in their entire lives.
This man has looked the devil right in his eyes and has said, not today son and walks right on leaving only some wounds and scars from the flames decorate his body as they are proud badges of how far hes come to be in a place of solitude and peace within his life.

The deep lines within his eyes are proof that hes been seen and not heard and hes had to walk this life alone.
He comes home after a hard days work, he speaks to no one, he lives with no one, except his coon hound.
He’s a shattered broken man who has gone insane in more than one occasion.

HE travels the open road like a modern cowboy on the search of something that truly feels like home…but these men…these men are the true men…the lost boys

Mountain Dew Game Fuel Citrus Cherry Review

    Gamers unite!
It’s time to finally try Mountain Dew Game Fuels first flavor for the first time! Mtn Dew Game Fuel Citrus Cherry!
Apparently this is meant to fuel gamers. I’m a gamer…will it fuel me or make me feel slow and sluggish…
It’s formulated to have more caffeine than regular Mountain Dew and it’s amped with more sugar. Will it taste too sweet? Let’s see what this soda tastes like along with its history going back to 2007! In this fun exciting cheat day review we do it all baby!

    Notes:

    2007) Halo 3

Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) was first released in stores with Halo 3 branding from August 13th, 2007 to November 4th, 2007 for 12 weeks nationwide in the United States in various sizes such as 20-ounce bottles, 2-liter bottles, 12-packs, and a similar bottle although not part in Green Label Art 16-ounce bottle. It was also available in the Slurpee for about half of a year in some places.

    (2009) World of Warcraft

Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) returned alongside a new companion flavor, Game Fuel (Wild Fruit), in the Summer of 2009 for a limited 10 week run. It received a rebranded design to coincide with the Online MMORPG, World of Warcraft.

This 2009 release did not accompany any specific expansion or game release, and (as mentioned earlier) instead served to promote the MMORPG "World of Warcraft," which had been released five years prior in 2004. Citrus Cherry's formula remained unchanged, and it was marketed under the name "Mountain Dew Game Fuel Horde Red" as it represented the Horde, while Game Fuel (Wild Fruit) was marketed as "Mountain Dew Game Fuel Alliance Blue" as it represented the Alliance.

(2011) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) returned two years later with another new companion flavor, Game Fuel (Tropical) in October 2011 for a limited time. It received another rebranded design to coincide with the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

    (2012) Halo 4

    Main article: Dew XP
Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) returned yet again the following year in 2012 for another limited time, although no companion flavor was released alongside it. Citrus Cherry was officially released on October 15th that year, where it received a different rebranded design to coincide with a new video game, Halo 4 as a part of the Dew XP Promotion.

Much like the previous year, this Dew XP promotion allowed fans to go online and enter codes found on specially-marked Mountain Dew and Doritos packaging. These codes unlocked extra in-game experience for their career in Halo 4. The Dew XP promotion ended on January 31st, 2013, and Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) was subsequently discontinued while Doritos's packaging reverted to its usual branding.

    (2013) Every2Minutes

    Main article: Every2Minutes
Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) returned again the following year with another new companion flavor, Game Fuel (Electrifying Berry) in August 2013 for another limited time. However, unlike previous promotions, the two Dew flavors were supporting different games, Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) supporting Dead Rising 3 as well as a Forza 5, and Game Fuel (Electrifying Berry) supporting Ryse: Son of Rome as well as Kinect Sports Rivals.

These two paired Dew flavors also gave a chance to win an Xbox One online that the website auction off one Xbox One for Every2Minutes. This promotion had the same concept as 2005's Every10Minutes and 2017's Every60Seconds in this case. In addition to this, the Slurpee form of Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) was brought back to coincide with this limited-time release. The two Dew flavors stayed on shelves until the end of the year, where both were discontinued until the next year.

    (2014 - 2022) Promotionless Permanent Release

In May 2014, with no announcement, Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) was released in
