Interview with Rising R&B Artist KEN

Interview with Rising R&B Artist KEN

Awarded the 2018 Black Label ‘Woman Artist of the Year Award’, R&B singer KEN continues to set the bar in what is proving to be one of her most healing records yet “N E Thing”. Applying a more mindful definition to the traditional meaning of “unconditional love”, “N E Thing” does not explore a love without boundaries but rather, love without conditions. Introducing an uplifting tone fit for the changing of seasons, KEN kicks off a new sound in comparison to her former tendency toward downbeat, lo-fi tracks. Focused on exuding high vibration music, the transition to a happier, lighter R&B sound suits the environment she’s excelling in as she hopes to heal listeners from across the globe with ambient melodies fit for the radio waves.

Interview with The Jared Stout Band

Interview with The Jared Stout Band

Kicking the year off on a high note, Virginia’s alt country powerhouse - The Jared Stout Band - is ready to introduce an emotive storyline about the working man’s desire for love out of his league. Paired with a high powered music video directed and produced by Jamie Neighbors of Boss Motion Pictures, they follow a night in the life of a blue collar worker who meets the girl of his dreams at a bar. The only problem? She might be way out of his league. His inner monologue pleads for the price of her love as he questions whether or not he is enough for her. A song about love, lust and leaving, the music video portrays a woman from a higher class as she ventures into a small town bar; out of place with her surroundings, she finds her attention fixed on the band that is playing, while the band's lead singer finds his full attention fixed on her.

“There’s price tags on your lovin, Like your heart is made of gold / Or is it something quick your wantin, Just a night to hold” ~ “Cost”

Latching eyes from across the room, the singer builds up the courage to ask the girl to dance and the two find a connection stronger than anyone could have expected. Now wondering, “What’s the cost of your kiss?”, the unsuspecting couple dances in the bar as everything fades away. Caught up in the moment, they kiss and everything fades to black. Transparent about the fact that they come from two different classes, we witness curiosity, courage and the pursuit of a genuine connection despite any societal limitations.

Set to play Virginia’s nationally-renowned Floyd Fest in 2023, The Jared Stout Band is well-positioned for the festival circuit. Delivering a dynamically unforgettable LIVE performance, their show has been coined as something that you definitely don’t want to miss. Having previously opened for notable artists like Blues Traveler, Phil Vassar, 38 Special, Cassadee Pope and Eric Paslay, their talents are praised by some of the biggest artists in Country music. Their work has received high praises from notable outlets like Celebmix, Broadway World and Hometown Country Music. Now back with a song to be applied to a vast array of life experience, their new track has a little something for everyone who is ready to turn their luck around.

    Exclusive Interview With Bright Brown

    Exclusive Interview With Bright Brown

Brooklyn-based singer, Chapman Stick player, and multi-instrumentalist Alex Nahas aka Bright Brown confronts our collective existentialism in his hypnotizing new hit “Aimless”. Delivering reflective vocals and an addictive instrumental loop, “Aimless” questions our continued desire to set lofty goals despite knowing that there’s only so much that we can control. The pandemic proved that life is capable of throwing us unpredictable turns in events, making it that much harder to plan and devise. So instead of planning ahead, “Aimless” is about living in the moment and the beauty of being present during uncertainty as we continue to take life one fickle day at a time.

Ironically, the first time Nahas performed “Aimless” was a few days before everything shut down for COVID. At the time, the song was simply an improvisation, but as time went on, the lyrics took on a whole new meaning. Aimless features Nahas singing and playing the rarely heard Chapman Stick, Eddie Avakian on drums, Jamie Muhoberac on keyboards, and Ava Nahas on percussion. As his music has evolved over time, so have his other creative endeavors. Recently, his latest EP offered fans a beautifully illustrated lyric book, where he reflected in a post-2020 world through his dark but hopeful lens. Nahas delivers musical influence from artists like Peter Gabriel, Talk Talk, David Bowie and Elvis Costello - all being one of a kind musicians who shoehorned unorthodox approaches into digestible pop music. Thoughtful and reflective, with a knack for rendering outside-world concerns in the landscape of the personal, Bright Brown continues to venture into new frontiers with each successive song.

Instrumentally energetic, the album explodes with stunning guitar riffs and lead vocals by original band member RW Hellborn, lead guitar by Matty Cobra, impactful bass by Eddie Spaghetti from Supersuckers and the intensity of Jorge Disguster from The Hangmen's captivating drum lines (LIVE band includes G. Interview with CARRIE BAXTER

    Interview with CARRIE BAXTER

I got the chance to speak with Singer/Songwritter Carrie Baxter. Carrie who now lives in London provided amazing details on how her newest single "YOU" was created.

Speaking on the track, Carrie explains; "If I could do an alternate version of every track I would, specifically just me and a pianist (my favourite instrument) There’s something about the romance of this song and it needing a piano on this version. The space I have to sing and the words being allowed to breath is the stuff I live for.

The live video, accompanying the release, is a stunning one-take visual illumination of the raw talent of Carrie. Recorded totally live, with absolutely zero tweaks to the audio or visual, it is

fair to say the video is an honest reflection of this burgeoning artist’s unique vocals, immense potential and a humble offering of what a Carrie Baxter live show would offer.

Speaking on the video, Carrie states; “I love singing live, ultimately it’s what I do it for. I usually try to stick to minimal takes in the studio at all times but this time, luckily or unluckily I was going through a pretty tough time when we recorded this so I trusted myself enough to deliver raw emotion in one take.”

Pop-Rock Artist and Elite Model Demi Ramos talks about her New Single “Killer 4U”

Pop-Rock Artist and Elite Model Demi Ramos talks about her New Single “Killer 4U”

Model, podcast host and rock n roll goddess Demi Ramos gears up to release her newest single “Killer 4U”. Co-produced with Geoffrey Hufford of Two Feet, Demi’s new track shows off a dynamic range for the young artist, tapping into a variety of musical styles that allow “Killer 4U” to resonate with a wide audience. Introducing elements of trap and hip hop to what was originally meant to be an acoustic hit, Demi and Geff fused nostalgic punk rock energy with modern influences to create a larger than life hit perfect for late summer vibes. Many would describe Demi’s sound as ‘Nirvana’ meets ‘Madonna’. During the quarantine of 2020, she wrote and co-produced “Killer 4U”, combining her hair raising rock musical themes with a modern electronic trap sheen. Lyrically, the song tells the fantasy of a New York City romance - with sex, drugs and rock and roll. A perfect way to end "hot girl summer".

LISTEN TO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH PAULINE JEAN

Beloved jazz world artist Pauline Jean releases her newest single “Ain’t I A Woman (Singing Truth)” on the 55th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, a law signed to end racial discrimination in voting. I got the chance to speak with Pauline and we had a great conversation.

Paired ahead of another milestone, marking the 100-year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, Pauline Jean’s new video reminds the world of the continued fight for women's rights. In her captivating new music video, Pauline Jean sings Sojourner Truths words “Ain’t I A Woman?”, referring to the racial prejudices that have contributed to Black women’s invisibility for centuries.

Pauline intends her song to generate awareness of voter registration, women in leadership, gender equality and violence against women. She prays that Sojourner Truth becomes a household name and that her legacy is celebrated annually to value and build upon her immense contributions toward the advancement of Black women’s rights in America.

Listen To Exclusive Interview With Kuwalla

Rising alt rock band Kuwalla has captured our hearts with the release of their timely new single, “Just Fine.”

The song was written when band member Kyle Sain was raising his first child with his girlfriend; the three of them were homeless, couch hopping, and living in the car they used to drive him back and forth from the Inland Empire to Orange County for work. “I wanted this song to be kind of anthemic. I want people to feel like this song is a hand on their back reassuring them through the hard times.” says Kyle.

Starting in 2018, the LA-based band began playing shows up and down the west coast to test out their new-found beloved sound in front of LIVE audiences. Show history includes House of Blues, The Roxy, Resident LA and many more. Comprised of four versatile musicians, (Kyle Sain - Lead Vocals & Guitar // Brian Huynh - Lead Guitar & Vocals // Marty Griffin - Drums // Danny Leserman - Bass & Keyboard), the band grabs their musical influences from what they listened to growing up. From Indie Alternative to Hard Rock to Blues, they hope to take the music of their environment, modernize it, and share it with the world for years to come.

LISTEN TO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE SILENT BOYS

The Silent Boys were once a constant part of the Richmond, Virginia alternative music scene, playing the local club circuit from the mid-‘80s until 1991. Dietz reformed the group in 1999 after the release of several Silent Boys songs on various indie record labels. Since then, he has continued to write infectious songs with a nod to the guitar pop greats of the ’80s—The Feelies, REM, The Smiths, The Go-Betweens etc. with a sound, as one writer noted, comprised of "Ultra-melodic lead guitar, strumming acoustic, snappy drums, and expressive bass-lines that propel finely crafted pop songs, brimming with lyrical optimism." Although the line-up has shifted over the years, The Silent Boys currently consist of founder and rhythm guitarist Wallace Dietz, longtime lead guitarist John Suchocki, drummer John Morand, and bassist Michael Click.

LISTEN TO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH KYLE DAVIS

LISTEN TO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH KYLE DAVIS

Stepping back for a moment of reflection, Kyle Davis realizes now, perhaps more than ever, that music can be a vehicle for change. No stranger to success, his music has received attention from Sony Records and Phil Ramone via Don Dixon, four stars from Rolling Stone and a cover feature in Billboard Magazine calling him “one of the best unsigned artists.” In addition, Davis has shared the stage with the likes of Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Shawn Colvin, The Wallflowers and Sheryl Crow. While Davis has received extensive accolades over the course of his career, Make it Count is about more than simply making music. Woven together with the wisdom of life’s profound experiences, Make it Count offers a timeless reflection encouraging listeners to make the most of the time that they have.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCUZ1GMyxVk&feature=emb_title

Created by Mikan Media, the music video for the title track, “Make it Count,” expresses Davis’s amazement at our inability to affect time’s linear motion. Struck by nostalgia upon looking at an old photograph, the video features Davis driving by the house where he grew up, speaking to the creases in each of our timelines while paying homage to Davis’s personal history; the song lyrics note how his family disintegrated a little after they moved and also serves as a place for Davis to say he misses his Dad - something he needed. Illustrating shared human experiences, the music video also features a few real stories including one of grief through the eyes of a woman looking upward in a church, holding a picture of her brother who took his life; it also tells of  rebirth and life through the eyes of a young mother with her child. Notably, the song expresses how we get many chances but each one only once.

Produced by Scott Lane and Stewart Myers, Make It Count features Daniel Clark on organ, piano, and whirly, Charles Authur on mandolin, pedal and steel, Carter Gravatt [Carbon Leaf] on mandolin, acoustic, pedal steel, Mike Durham and Scott Lane playing electric guitars, as well as drummers, John O’Reilly and Pinson Chanselle, and Stewart Myers and Scott Lane on bass, as well as backing vocalists Kenneka Cook and Scott Lane.

Davis began recording in his early 20s, spawning a string of albums -- Kyle Davis, Waiting For You, Raising Heroes, Don’t Tell the World, and River City Gang -- which harnessed national attention and effectively expressed a keen sense of melody, infectious energy and hooks that sank in quickly and refused to let go. These days, Davis is more eager than ever to rekindle his career, and remains inspired by his love of music and a desire to connect with others.
