    Episode 16 - Body Double
Welcome to Podcast #16 with your friendly Jackass Critics! This episode, we watch Brian DePalma's Body Double, and give our running thoughts and commentary on one of DePalma's most divisive films. If you've ever been curious what the hub bub is about Body Double (as an early hint, it's an early 80's look in to the world of pornography) or if you're a grizzled DePalma fan that has seen all of DePalma's short films, there's something for everyone revisiting the world of Body Double.

Episode 15 - 2017 Summer Box Office Challenge

Episode 15 - 2017 Summer Box Office Challenge
Another year, another Summer Box Office Challenge. As we enter 2017, JackassMatt has soundly defeated JackassTom in 2016, taking a 3-2 lead in the history of the #SBOC! We start out our conversation discussing the big hits and misses in the previous year, along with talk about some surprising 2016 Summer box office winners neither one of us expected. We then transition to the main event, the 2017 Summer Box Office Challenge. Each of us pick 5 summer films to compare their domestic box office haul. Films from May 19, 2017 through the end of August 2017 are eligible. We'll start totalling up our results in mid September, though the die likely will be cast by mid August on who is going to be the winner. Let's get started kids!

Episode 9b - Pickup on South Street (Fuller)

Episode 9b - Pickup on South Street (Fuller)
Our focus this podcast is the 1953 film from director Samuel Fuller, Pickup on South Street. Fuller has grown quite a cult following in the years after his death. Commonly known for his black and white films focusing on the hard life; Brutality towards women was common in his films. Pickup mixes some 50's America red scare underpinnings with a look at the life of a low level city hood. JackassTom finds a lot to like in Fullers work. JackassMatt has a tougher time swallowing some of the bitter medicine Sam is feeding him.

Episode 9a - Bullets, and Pickup on South Street (Fuller)

Episode 9a - Bullets, and Pickup on South Street (Fuller)
During this weeks Bullets in the Chamber, we talk: JackassTom is in Japan! How many movies does it take, to make Tom insane on a flight from the Midwest to the Land of the Rising Sun. Tom talks about the Oscar Nominated movie, Real Steal, along with Steve Martin's latest folly. JackassMatt talks about ironically buying a ticket to see Ghost Rider 2:3D and finding himself actually liking it. A lot. And the cool stuff they are already planning for the Blu Ray release. On the eve of the Oscars, JackassTom pontificates on the 10 films nominated for Best Picture of 2011. We both figure The Artist is a shoe in for the Best Pic award. In our digital media segment, we talk about Comcast launching Streampix (cool name, ya'll!) and the fact that Starz films are about to expire off Netflix streaming. Lastly, Tom reflects quickly on the his lost Quentin Tarantino film, Inglorious Basterds. Tom likes, nay in fact, loves Basterds, and both Jackasses pontificate the idea that Tarantino may be criminally underrated.

Episode 5a - The Long Goodbye (Bullets)

Episode 5a - The Long Goodbye (Bullets)
During this weeks Bullets in the Chamber, we talk: Summer Blockbuster 2011 Update Tallies (Hint: one of us is winning, the other is losing); Matt's adventure with Blockbuster Online. A true Netflix competitor?; Ridley Scott's new projects - Alien sidequel? Blade Runner 3D? Matt crying?; Matt hosts a new game segment called Make Mine Madsen!. Tom is the first, and likely only, contestant. Our feature film discussion, for The Long Goodbye, is in Podcast 5b.

    Episode 4 - Summer 2011 Blockbuster Draft

    Episode 4 - Summer 2011 Blockbuster Draft
During this weeks Bullets in the Chamber, we talk: Terrence Malick winning the Palme D'Or for The Tree of Life; Matt's triple stinker movie marathon during "porn night"; Netflix dominating internet traffic; Sony and Crackle try to capitalize film and tv streaming. Our focus this week is the basket of Summer 2011 Blockbusters. Matt and Tom throw down the gauntlet, and challenge each other to a draft. We each select our top 5 picks for box office draws. The stakes? The winner earns a tasty 12 pack, the right to assign the movie of their choice to the loser, and the ability to choose customer podcast intros for both themselves and the loser! But how do we determine the draft order? Glad you asked? We have a Movie Knowledge Off (MKO)! Matt and Tom select both a category and 3 multiple choice questions, preferably as hard as possible, to quiz each other on, to determine who earns the right to pick first! Once we've determined our draft order, we each pick our top 5 flicks for the Summer 2011 Blockbuster Mega Movie season! Each movie gets a discussion from both guys, as we talk about why we did, or didn't draft each flick. Who will win? Tune in around mid September and find out! For now, check out the funnest and liveliest Jackass Critics podcast to date!

Episode 3 - Brand Upon the Brain! (Guy Maddin)

Episode 3 - Brand Upon the Brain! (Guy Maddin)
During this weeks Bullets in the Chamber, we talk: The Mighty Thor, Fast Five, Cop Hater, Lady in the Lake and the Warner Brothers/Flixster acquisition. Afterwards, we dive into our focus film, Brand Upon the Brain! We begin talking tech, taking a look at the visual and audio presentation. Given that Brand is technically a silent film, director Guy Maddin feels the pressure to ratchet up both the sights and the sounds to stimulate and 2011 audience, while still respecting and paying homage to the true silent filmmakers of the past. If anything is lacking, it's certainly not themes and metaphors. Mr. Maddin throws the kitchen sink at you, exploring duality of man, oedipal relationships, missing fathers, sisters with ambugious sexual tastes, and much more. You can either read into this as Maddin really has a lot to say (like Tom does) or Maddin really felt he had to load up his otherwise empty flick (like Matt does). We round out the show with a tease for our next show, a podcast for the ages, the summer blockbuster showdown.
