She serves as the assistant ranking Republican on the House Education Committee and is a member of the House Education Appropriations and Oversight, Rules and Technology, Energy and Communications committees. She was appointed to serve on the Quality Education Council, which is working on early learning and other education reforms.

He is the ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, which is the committee that crafts the state operating budget. During this interview we talked about the state budget, the projected deficit, and education funding – since he was on the task force on education that met over the interim to address the state Supreme Court mandates on education. He is also a co-sponsor of House Joint Resolution 4206, which would amend the state’s constitution to add the 2/3rd majority requirement for the Legislature to raise taxes (Taxpayer Protection Act).
