I love great production and Portland has a number of producers that speak to my ear. My first guest of 2021 is one of those, but I learned his craft is much deeper than that. We speak on why he titled his first release "Colorblind", his goal to work with all the members of Sandpeople and the importance of using his platform to speak on injustices. Ending the year with this dope episode, an interview with someone who's probably worked with some of your favorite artists, but you wouldn't know it unless you read the album credits. His most recent release "Inspired By True Events" is a thought provoking project speaking on life and was itself impacted by the challenges of 2020. Excited to share this episode of the Klyph Notes podcast, episode #110, featuring Tenacity. 

Members of the Grand Nationxl collective continue to release great music and these 3 individuals created a project that is once again calls back to one of the greatest times in hip hop history. A foundation of lyricism and style over great production is what the self titled project presents. It's another sit down with one of my favorite artists, but this one is a little different, live on location. After not releasing music for a minute, he's dropped two projects this year that are a departure from previous work. First was "No Clout", produced by Bay Area producer Tope which is a look into stories that haven't been told. More recently "No Sympathy" produced by Portland based producer Mike Mo who also made an appearance on the podcast, which an even deeper look into the path he's walked in the past. In times like this, it's encouraging to see community work together for those in need. I talked to local artist Randal Wyatt about his new venture, Taking Ownership PDX, and how he's leading this non-profit organization in changing lives in the city of Portland Oregon, funding home repairs for black folk. He's an Emmy award winner, an artist, activist and one of the nicest emcees rapping right now. He has a new album out "The World is so Fragile and Cruel I'm Glad I Got You" with powerful visuals from the song "Clic" in particular. Listening to Twice on Sunday for the first time took me back. To hear a collective of artists come together to create an art piece that feels timeless, sonically sound, lyrically complex and insightful - reminiscent of the Dungeon Family. Moe Green, Kevin Allen, Brookfield Duece and D. Bledsoe, four members of the collective Grand Nationxl, were guests on the podcast speaking on the release "Twice on Sunday (Season 1)". They talked about who's the best emcee in the crew, the benefit of vet emcees working together and a grip more.
