    Mark Kaufmann, MD, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, a position he has held since 1995. He was in solo private practice for 23 years until he joined The Dermatology Group in November 2017. In September 2020, he joined Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery as their Chief Medical Officer.
     
    He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, completing residency training in dermatology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He is board certified in dermatology.
     
    Dr. Kaufmann is currently the Immediate-Past President of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has served on the AAD Board of Directors, as well as countless AAD committees, and has chaired many of them as well. He also serves as an advisor to the Academy RUC team (Relative Value Scale Update Committee) - a position he has held for over a decade.

    Dr. Peter Lio, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Lio is the founding director of the Chicago Integrative Eczema Center and has spoken nationally and internationally about atopic dermatitis, as well as alternative medicine. Dr. Lio has worked with the Pierre Fabre Eczema Foundation on the POP Training US program, for which he is also one of the speakers.

    Yuval Bibi, MD PhD is a distinguished dermatologist of Israeli origin who currently resides in the United States. He holds certification from the American Board of Dermatology and boasts a diverse range of talents and achievements. Dr. Bibi commenced his academic journey at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel, enrolling in the MD/PhD program. He later ventured to Worcester, Massachusetts, to pursue his research on human papillomavirus related cancer biology and innate immunity at UMass Medical School.
     
    Following his research endeavors, Dr. Bibi embarked on his clinical training as a dermatologist through the combined residency program at Boston University and Tufts University.     Robert Kirsner, MD PHD FAAD, is the Chairman and the endowed Harvey Blank Professor in the Dr. Phillip Frost Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, and Professor of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is the Chief of Dermatology at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and Jackson Memorial Hospital and directs the University of Miami Hospital Wound Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, his medical degree from the University of Miami and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Miami after he completed his clinical training. His clinical training included internal medicine, a clinical and research fellowship in wound healing and dermatology at the University of Miami. His research interests include Wound Healing and Skin Cancer Epidemiology.
     
    Dr. Kirsner serves as one of 3 academic editors for the journal Wound Repair and Regeneration and on the editorial boards for a number of other journals in dermatology and wound healing. He serves in national leadership positions in both Wound Healing and Dermatology, including being Vice President-elect of the American Academy of Dermatology and serving on the Wound Healing Society Board of Directors. In addition to career development awards, foundation, industry-sponsored funding and CDC funding, he currently leads and is part of a number of NIH-funded grants. Independent of books, book chapters and abstracts, he has published over 550 articles.

    Joseph Alban, DAc MS LAc is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Board Certified Herbalist. He has run a private practice in New York City for seventeen years.

    Dr. Alban graduated from Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine, obtaining a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and completed a Doctor of Acupuncture at Five Branches Univerisity. He completed a Chinese Medicine hospital residency in Hunan, China where he trained in acupuncture, Chinese medicine dermatology, and Tui Na medical massage.

    Jason E. Hawkes, MD MS is a board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of California Davis in Sacramento. He completed his medical degree and dermatology residency training at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he was also enrolled in the Program’s 2+2 dermatology research track. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Hawkes completed a research fellowship in translation immunology at the National Institutes of Health as part of the HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program and received a master’s degree in Clinical Investigation from Rockefeller University in NYC.

    Dr. Hawkes’ principal clinical and research interests are the treatment of complex inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and eczema. He has a special interest in translational human research and the development of novel biologics and small molecules used for the treatment of inflammatory conditions.

    Dr. Hawkes is currently serving on the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation and has served as the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator of multiple pharmaceutical-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trial protocols. He is the recipient of multiple research grants and teaching awards and was recently named the 2021 Outstanding Educator in Psoriatic Disease by the National Psoriasis Foundation. He is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and 8 book chapters.

    Katie Varman, MD FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Shine, a functional dermatology clinic in Lincoln, CA. Dr. Varman was born in California but spent much of her medical training on the east coast touring the South in Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina. While enjoying the fireflies, bluegrass music and Southern hospitality, Dr. Varman was also introduced to regenerative farming; a passion that has influenced her approach to medical care.

Dr. Varman also has a special focus on phototherapy as her favorite treatment modality for many inflammatory skin conditions.

    Neal Barnard, MD FACC, is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. 
     
    Dr. Barnard has led numerous research studies investigating the effects of diet on diabetes, body weight, hormonal symptoms, and chronic pain, including a groundbreaking study of dietary interventions in type 2 diabetes, funded by the National Institutes of Health, that paved the way for viewing type 2 diabetes as a potentially reversible condition for many patients. Dr. Barnard has authored more than 100 scientific publications and 20 books for medical and lay readers and is the editor-in-chief of the Nutrition Guide for Clinicians, a textbook made available to all U.S. medical students.
     
    As president of the Physicians Committee, Dr. Barnard leads programs advocating for preventive medicine, good nutrition, and higher ethical standards in research. His research contributed to the acceptance of plant-based diets in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. In 2015, he was named a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. In 2016, he founded the Barnard Medical Center in Washington, DC, as a model for making nutrition a routine part of all medical care.   
     
    Working with the Medical Society of the District of Columbia and the American Medical Association, Dr. Barnard has authored key resolutions, now part of AMA policy, calling for a new focus on prevention and nutrition in federal policies and in medical practice. In 2018, he received the Medical Society of the District of Columbia’s Distinguished Service Award. He has hosted four PBS television programs on nutrition and health.     

    Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Dr. Barnard received his M.D. degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the same institution. He practiced at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York before returning to Washington to found the Physicians Committee.
