May’s studio theme is all things GROWTH & EXPANSION 🌀

Because as much as we know we can’t control it all - it’s also comforting to stay rooted in the truth that we grow what we sow. And there is something truly magical about watching your hard work and devotion bear fruits.

In this month’s classes you can expect the tangible, literal growth that can happen within a single practice, as well as continued repeated patterns from teachers classes over the whole month to experience new perspectives on a familiar task week by week. Get excited for a month full of:

    • Peak Pose Practices
    • Ladder & Mandala Flows
    • Soft, Expansive Yin Yoga
    • Functional Freedom
    • Backbends & out of the box movement
    • Expansive Breathwork

With all this on the horizon, we want to know what GROWTH means to you!

📝 Does growth always mean something BRAND NEW? or can it also mean embracing where/when/how you are?

📝 Can we become more aware of our efforts and where we place them?

📝 What does a GROWTH MINDSET mean to you?

As always, you can download your May Practice Calendar on the first class pages of this month.

Don’t forget to listen to or watch the introductory podcast episode that drops this week where we chat more in depth on what the classes this month have in store for you!

    Practical Routines and Practices

    Practical Routines and Practices

In this episode Patrick and Carling discuss there method for building good habits and patterns in daily life. Laugh through this conversation with us as we make a series of absurd off the cuff references and pull it all together to (hopefully!) help you find steps forward bringing more mindfulness into developing routines you enjoy!

    It's Time for Spring Cleaning!

    It's Time for Spring Cleaning!

Welcome to a new month on Commune Online! Here we are rolling right into spring with a focus on moving new energies into our practice.
The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and it’s time to start defrosting from the winter chill. This month, we’re shifting our focus to the inner needs of clearing our new space and starting fresh. It’s time for a little SPRING CLEANING 🐣

If our practice and our inner landscape is to be our home, our hope is to make it a place we want to live. To have enough space, nourishment, fresh air, and comfort that there is no where else we’d rather be.

but, carving out enough space? Sweeping the dusty corners? clearing the cobwebs? putting fresh food in the fridge? wiping down the windows to let the sun shine in? THATS THE WORK.

So this month will be multifaceted, largely living in the YOGA realm (especially compared to last month!) classes will offer cleansing breathwork & kriya, sweeping perspective shifting inversions, vinyasa challenges that ask you search for presence, fresh flows to let in new light, and soft landings to put your feet up (literally & figuratively) to rest after a satisfying deep clean.

    Numbing or Nurturing?

    Numbing or Nurturing?

When Carling gave birth to Harvey we spent a good amount of time in the hospital, which led to us discussing when are our experiences nurturing growth versus when are we becoming numb to get through the moment.

In the yoga practice we all strive to be as present as possible and not wish moments of our life away, but in reality that is only a goal at which we can strive for. Life comes in waves, some of them you will wish would never end and others that you wish would never start. Either way you see things currently how can we live with an opportunistic mindset to explore what is in front of us at the moment to continue to grow as people.

    Does Alignment Matter?

    Does Alignment Matter?

In this episode we discuss what exactly "Alignment Yoga" is and how we might define the differences between "Good" and "Bad" alignment. With the rise in popularity of group yoga asana classes, the need for standard cueing and aesthetics may have led us to believe that there are right and wrong ways to practice so we wonder who exactly gets to decide many lineages gilded alignment rules, and if we really can apply them as students and teachers.

Can you teach it if you can't do it?

Can you teach it if you can't do it?

After a week off of podcasting to welcome the newest member of the family into the world, Patrick and Carling are back chatting about the age old question, can you teach it if you can't do it?

They discuss how embodiment, rather than performance, is the attribute that can help a teacher trans, mute their concepts with integrity & passion. How the same concept can be taught more diversely when we come from  a place of personal experience, no matter what level it is.
