Welcome to the middle of May, baseball fans! For some teams - especially in New York - the year has been a fun start. For others, it hasn't been great. Tab and Paul jump off to start the week discussing youth baseball culture and then turn their attention to the Cincinnati Reds, who threw a no-hitter - and lost... to the Pirates. The guys also discuss the ugly injury to Houston's Jake Odorizzi on Monday night and Kansas City's decision to make a change on the bench, firing their hitting coach (yes, Terry Bradshaw. No, not that Terry Bradshaw).
This week, the good is a celebration of Cubs' backstop Willson Contreras reaching the 100 home run plateau in his career. He's only the third Cubs' catcher to reach the mark, and did it with a grand slam on Monday night. The four-run jack capped an 8-run inning for the Cubs; Contreras became the first player in more than 60 years with a grand slam and another extra base hit in the first inning of a game.
The bad looked at the struggling offense in Toronto. No, not the Maple Leafs - the Blue Jays have been surprisingly underwhelming this year. In a tough American League East, they need to get on track before the Yankees run away and the Rays separate themselves in the playoff race.

Shonuff Shohei, Ump Etiquette, Rotten Reds, 2K Dusty and Yanks at Hockey Games!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.
Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there who are keeping kids on the diamonds across this beautiful country! In this week's episode of Line Drive Radio, Tab and Paul chat about Dusty Baker's milestone, the Yankees chugging beverages at a playoff hockey game and an umpire with too much hubris making a scene.
The good this week was the remarkable, unprecedented performance by Shohei Ohtani in Boston on Thursday. Want history? He made a lot of it in arguably his best pitching performance as a major leaguer. The bad was pretty easy to find: it's in Cincinnati, and it's baaaad. The Reds are off to a historically bad start this season. Is there an end to their putrid play in sight? And who's fault is it that they're this bad?

Acuña Returns, Twins Surprise, Yankees Cheat, Mets and Cards Brawl and What's with the MLB draft?
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.
Line Drive Radio roles into the end of April with a bang! This week the boys got out the Festivus pole and aired some grievances. The Yankees' letter was released, the Mets and Cardinals threw baseball - and hands - and players are complaining about the consistency and quality of the baseball. What gives?
Not everything in the game is bad, however. Ronald Acuña Jr. returned for Atlanta on Thursday, but we had to grab a tissue when Willson and William Contreras shed a tear or two exchanging the lineup cards before the Cubs and Braves took the field. And in Minnesota, the Twins have been red hot lately and have taken control of the American League Central.

Mets First to 10, Cabrera Gets Booned, Athletics Pathetic Home Issues and More!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford
We're now two weeks into the 2022 MLB season and we've seen some exciting performances on the field. The Cleveland Guardians are in first place, the New York Mets are the first team to reach 10 wins and four of the five teams in the National League West have won at least eight games entering Friday. There's been plenty of big scores and fun performances already this year!
Tab and Paul dig in and discuss the greatness of Miguel Cabrera as he approaches 3,000 career hits. How exclusive is the company he's in? The number of other players who have done what he's accomplished in the big leagues is incredibly small. The respect for Miggy is universal -- to the point that Aaron Boone didn't want to let him try for his 3,000th hit with the game on the line in the eighth inning in Detroit on Thursday. The guys have thoughts on Boone's free pass...
They also spent a few minutes discussing the ugly situation in Oakland. The A's had less than 6,500 fans at two home games this week -- total. With ownership flirting with moving the team to Las Vegas and the front office trading away their best players once again this winter, can you blame the fans for not showing up or paying for tickets? Does this situation have a resolution in Oakland or does a divorce need to happen?
Hang with us for Tab's fantasy add of the week at the end of the show. Which first baseman should you keep an eye on to help your offense?
Thank you for listening.
