October 13, 1917 is reported to be the last of the Virgin Mary's 6 appearances to three shepherd children, Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto  in Fatima, Portugal. The event was punctuated by what is known as the Fatima Miracle or Miracle of the Sun witnessed by 30,000 to possibly as many as 100,000 people, including quite a few skeptics. Angie Gillette, Dianne Estopinal and Edme Mendez, organizers of a public square Rosary commemorating the miracle, share the history of the event and what it means to them.

Performing live in Living Real Radio's studio, Americana - Latin artist Hobo Cane (Javier Mendoza) talks to us about his latest album, Who Do You Love, with songs revolving around the theme of love in all different ways. In addition to his live performance, we feature some tracks from the upcoming October 21st release. We interview violinist, composer, arranger, and teacher, Melanie Joy Alvey, as we continue to feature the artists performing for the St. Philip Concert in the Courtyard series.  Melanie expands her classical training into various American styles. Her approach to performance and composition was formed during her studies at Belmont University with classical violinist Elisabeth Small, electric violinist Tracy Silverman, country/western swing icon Buddy Spicher, and jazz violinist Billy Contreras. There, she completed both her Undergraduate Degree and Masters Degree in Commercial Performance. Alvey shares her approach to fostering music in her children and the compositions inspired by them.

John Angotti interviews Michael Alvey as Living Real Radio highlights the upcoming artists for the Concerts in the Courtyard summer series at St. Philip Catholic Church, Franklin, TN. Michael is an eclectic piano player ranging from classical to jazz to country to pop rock. Since retiring from a 30 year career as a music educator in the Franklin Special School District, Michael has focused on composing and arranging for his jazz piano trio, the Michael Alvey Trio.

Happy Pentecost, friends! On this episode we celebrate the birthday of the Church by catching up on the ministry of a very Spirit filled  man, Father Bala Showraiah, who is celebrating 33 years in the priesthood. Father Bala was pastor of St. Philip until 2020 when he was transferred to St. Catherine in McMinnville, TN. As he did for St. Philip, he has ushered in a renewal of faith through the Franciscan way of recognizing the dignity of all.
