    This week, we interview artist Hobo Cane as St. Philip features musical guests playing at our summer series, Concerts in the Courtyard. Born as Javier Alberto Mendoza in the state of Virginia to a Spanish mother and Mexican/American father, Javier’s love for music burned bright from a young age. He started his musical career joining Warner-Chappell as a staff writer in Miami, FL. There he spent his time writing tunes for mega pop sensations such as Enrique Iglesias, Juan David, Ricky Martin, Rosario and more. Mendoza now resides in Nashville, TN where he is embarking on a project as Hobo Cane.

    Fawaz Yasi, whose stage name is “E-Knock,” is a traditional Catholic rapper. He released his first album, Traditionis, in March of 2022. Yasi, a Syriac Christian from Northern Iraq, emigrated to the US with his family at the age of five. Yasi shares his love for homesteading (listen for the rooster), the Church, youth ministry and, of course, rap music.

    Joe LoCasto, a parishioner at St. Philip Church in Franklin, is a professional drummer and business entrepreneur. Joe has played in jazz and rock genres, touring in the 1960s and ’70s with well-known bands such as The Guess Who and later, with country music star, Brad Paisley. When his wife was diagnosed with cancer, he relied on his Catholic faith to help him as he accompanied her through treatments and her return to health.
