    On this Episode Lauren is joined by the brilliant American singer, songwriter and film-maker Ben Hozie, from the band BODEGA.  The band consists of Ben, Nikki Belfiglio, Dan Ryan, Adam See and Tai Lee.

    In 2018, BODEGA released its debut album 'Endless Scroll', leading to tours all over the world. In March this year, Ben and the band released their 2nd studio album ‘Broken Equipment’, inspired by a book club.  The album's 12 songs are set in present day New York City, packing in references to contemporary issues of algorithmic targeting, media gentrification, and the band itself.  Ben discusses the many cultural and personal influences behind each song.

    Episode 12: A Blaze of Feather: 'Claire's Lane'

    On this Episode Lauren is joined by the wonderful Cornish photographer, film-maker, singer, songwriter, musician and all round creative force of nature, Mickey Smith. Mickey first came to wider prominence with the release of his film ‘Dark Side of the Lens’, becoming one of the most influential surf films of the last decade.

    He is acclaimed for his work as a musician both as apart of Ben Howard’s band and through his own project ‘A Blaze of Feather’. The band's self-titled debut album was released back in 2017, followed by their 2nd album ‘Labyrinth’ in 2020.

    In March this year, Mickey released their 3rd studio album ‘Claire’s Lane’, a record written and recorded right in the heart of West Cornwall; for the past and with hope for the future. Mickey chats through the writing and recording process behind each song off the beautiful, expressive 12 track album.

    Episode 11: Kelly Finnigan & Monophonics: 'Sage Motel'

    On this episode Lauren is joined by the brilliant American singer, songwriter, engineer, producer and, frontman of the band Monophonics, Kelly Finnigan. Kelly started off his career as a DJ before joining the Monophonics in 2012 as singer and keyboardist. Since then, he has enjoyed great success both as a solo artist and as the band's frontman on the Colemine Records label.

    In May this year, the band released their 5th studio album since 2012, the fantastic ‘Sage Motel’. Kelly chats through the writing and recording process behind each song off the eclectic, timeless record.

    On this episode Lauren is joined by Charles Prest a.k.a. Noon Garden, a British Nigerian Jamaican multi-instrumentalist and psych pop musician based in London. Noon Garden is an  exotic psych-pop odyssey project by Charles, drawing on familiar and otherworldly sounds from across the globe, conjuring up grooves that meander their way through a wide spectrum of African Disco, Funk, Exotica and Psychedelia.

    Charles is a founding member of the international psych band Flamingods, and, in April this year, released his debut solo album 'Beulah Spa'.  He talks through the album track by track, discussing the many cultural and personal influences behind each song.

    On this episode Lauren is joined by renowned Australian blues musician Ash Grunwald. Since releasing his debut album 'Introducing Ash Grunwald' in 2002, he has gone on to have numerous records, toured all around the world and received 6 nominations for the ARIA Music Awards.

    Following his top-10 collaboration with Josh Teskey, 'Push The Blues Away', Ash Grunwald delivers his most personal album yet; 'Shout Into The Noise'. Released in March this year, he worked with Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Lachlan Bostock (Mansionair) to bring together the showstopper of an album. Ash discusses challenging himself on the record, defying expectations and refusing to be pigeonholed.

    Episode 8: Gareth Dunlop: 'Animal'

    On this episode Lauren is joined by Belfast born singer-songwriter and producer Gareth Dunlop. Gareth has been recognised as an accomplished talent ever since the BBC tipped him as ‘one to watch’ in 2010.

    He has released several singles and EP's with many of his songs going on to be used across television and film. In 2017, he released his debut album 'No.79' which earned critical acclaim and was playlisted on several Irish and UK radio stations.

    In April this year, he released his second album 'Animal', recorded at his home studio in Belfast.

    Gareth chats through the album track by track, discussing the fascinating influences behind each song.

    On this episode Lauren is joined by Ferris & Sylvester,  the London-based duo of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester.

    Since meeting as solo musicians at the London Blues joint Spiritual Bar in 2017, they have released a wonderful collection of singles and EPs, earning them a place in Rolling Stone's 'Top 10 Americana Acts You Need To Know'.

    Last month they released their much anticipated debut album 'Superhuman'. Issy and Archie chat through their writing and production processes, whilst also managing to talk favourite tea, cider and live performances!

    On this episode Lauren is joined by Tennessee-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maya De Vitry. Maya first traveled and performed as a fiddling street musician, and then in bars, theaters, and on festival stages as a founding member of The Stray Birds.

    In January this year, she released her third solo studio album 'Violet Light' via Mad Maker Studio. The 11 track album was co-produced by Maya and Ethan Jodziewicz, with each song featuring a unique band.

    Episode 4: Cassandra Jenkins: 'An Overview on Phenomenal Nature'

    On this episode Lauren is joined by New York singer-songwriter Cassandra Jenkins. As a musician, she has played in the bands of Eleanor Friedberger, Craig Finn, Lola Kirke, and rehearsed to tour with Purple Mountains in August 2019 before the tour’s cancellation, meticulously making her debut LP 'Play Till You Win'.

    In February last year, she released her second album 'An Overview on Phenomenal Nature' via Ba Da Bing Records.

    Her lyrics unfold magical worlds, introducing you to a cast of characters like a local fisherman, a psychic at a birthday party, and driving instructor of a spiritual bent. Cassandra discusses the writing and recording process behind each track, as well as the many life experiences that shaped the album.

    On this episode Lauren is joined by JUNO-nominated, Canadian singer-songwriter AHI.  In 2016, he released his debut album 'We Made It Through the Wreckage'.

    In November (2021) he released his wonderful new album 'Prospect'. Recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning producer Paul Mabury, AHI discusses the writing process and inspiration behind each song off the album as well as reflecting on his own journey as a musician.

    Episode 1: Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys: 'The Wishing Tree'

    On this episode Lauren is joined by the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Sam Kelly. In 2015 Sam and the band- Jamie Francis (banjo), Graham Coe (cello), Toby Shaer (whistles/fiddle), Archie Moss (melodeon) and Evan Carson (drums), released their debut album 'The Lost Boys'. The album came out to a storm of rave reviews, cementing Sam's place as one of the most rapidly rising stars on the UK folk scene, and enticing Radio 2 to invite the guys into the BBC studios as the featured live session guests on the Mark Radcliffe Show - an honour usually only bestowed upon much more established musicians.

    In August, Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys released their brilliant new album 'The Wishing Tree' with Pure Records.
