    Chapter 5 Letters from Herman

Carla is completely devastated by Herman’s departure. To a large degree, her happiness depends on her relationship to Herman. Without him, true happiness has no existence for her. As much as she tries to imagine his return, she doesn’t feel it in her heart. Even the smile is gone, and her bubbly personality went with it. As a child, she believed that when people leave, they never return. Like a bad dream, she has a memory of her parents leaving, and never seeing them again.  Maybe she has transferred that pain of loss to the thought of losing Herman. It doesn’t make much sense, but so much of life is a mystery to Carla, and just when she thinks she has it all figured out, life takes a new course.

With Herman gone, Carla’s life is not the same. She’s not in touch with her school friends, and dancing buddies – except for her best friend, Maria. But as much as Maria tries to cheer her up, Carla remains lonely and depressed. Carla spends most of her days with Mama.

Now that Mamá is up in age, and can’t do as much, Carla does most of the cleaning, cooking, and marketing. Mamá has been doing heavy housekeeping for some of the Anglo people on the other side of the tracks. But lately, she doesn’t have the energy for such work. The walk alone is too much for her. Therefore, Carla has taken on some of the jobs – the furthest ones.

Carla takes on those jobs to help Mamá, but she does not enjoy it one bit. She especially hates cleaning other people’s toilets – particularly those up-tight white people who speak down to her with an extra loud tone – as if she’s deaf. It reminds her of her kindergarten teacher…the one with the red hair and freckles that would raise her voice at the Spanish speaking kids – as if the loudness would help them understand English.

Here she is years later experiencing the same stupidity.  Do these people think that if you clean houses for a living you must not know English and you must be poor and hard of hearing? Carla works hard and fast to get the hell out of those homes, and back to her own home where there is love and comfort.

This Podcast is great for bloggers, publishers, authors, book reviewers, editors and especially book lovers. I am passionate about books. I have several books on self-help, all available on amazon. But my very favorite is my Romance Novel, Carla. I am passionate about this book.  Carla is a True Story except when it’s not true. My purpose in sharing this novel with you is of course to entertain you but most important, it’s to inspire you to have more passion in your life…….. A life without passion is a boring life, I believe. Passion brings me joy; passion fills my heart with love, Passion gives me life. Everything I do, I do with passion. I will always spread joy everywhere I go, and I will always continue to live a life filled with passion.

Reading Carla will boost those passion chemical receptors in the brain. And WOW what it will do to your mind and body!  Carla is a romance novel, but it’s not an ordinary romance novel. It’s steaming with passion. And it’s based on a historical time period, the late 30’s early 40’s. The genre is Realistic Historical Romance Fiction.  This genre consists of stories that could have actually occurred to people in a believable setting. These stories resemble real life, and the fictional characters within these stories react similarly to real people. These stories fiction mirror life. The scenes are dramatized to create interest and entertain the reader.

The characters in my novel, Carla, are fictional based on my imagination and the many conversations with my mother, Alice Elias Arellano, and my aunt Estela Elias Garcia……  They were great storytellers. This book is dedicated to these two amazing women who taught me how to live and love.

This episode is on Chapter 5. It might be the last chapter I read in my podcast. Besure to listen to all 5 chapters. If you haven't bought the book, listening to the chapters will help you make the decision to buy or not to buy.

    Live with passion!

Hope you’re enjoying the episodes on Carla. I’m enjoying reading it to you. Here’s a little tip for you authors/aspiring authors: it’s called priming. Think about your favorite author. What inspires you about that author? What is the personality of that author? What type of music does that person listen to? Research your author. Really get to know your author. Then write a 50-word story about your author, not more than 50 and not less than 50. This is challenging. It’s easier to write a long story. Let me know how it goes. Drop me an email. Welcome to Masterfesto Media Podcast. The episodes on this podcast are all about stories taken from different media sources. The story I’m sharing with you is a Love Story from my novel, Carla! Be sure to listen to episodes one and two for the first two chapters. In this episode I am reading chapter three, The Disappointment. If you love stories and prefer audio more than reading pages in a book, this show is for you.
My purpose in sharing this novel with you is to entertain you, and to inspire you to have more passion in your life…….. A life without passion is a boring life, I believe. Carla is steaming with passion. It will boost those passion chemical receptors in the brain. And WOW what it will do to your mind and body!
Carla is a romance novel from a historical time period, the late 30’s early 40’s the era of big bands, also known as the swing era a touchstone of American culture with Duke Allington, benny Goodman, Glen Miller, and Count Basie. I’m proud to announce that my Uncle Harry Elias played in some of the Big Bands. You will hear the passion in Carla when it comes to swing dancing.
This next chapter touches on the pain associated with falling in love, the heartaches, the disappointments. When we fall deeply in love, we can become vulnerable and off balance. Then disappointment sets in. We either recover and get back our balance, or we continue to suffer and promise to never love again. It’s very important to the balance of life to allow ourselves to be off balance in love so we can be balanced in life – taken from the story, Eat Pray Love.

If you listened to my first episode, you were introduced to my Romance Novel, Carla. If you haven’t listened to the first episode, I highly suggest you listen to the first episode. In the first episode, I’m reading chapter one.

My purpose in sharing this novel with you is of course to entertain you but most important, it’s to inspire you to have more passion in your life. Carla will boost those passion chemical receptors in the brain. A life without passion is a boring life, I believe. Passion brings joy; passion fills the heart with love, passion gives life.

As mentioned in the first episode, Carla is A True Story except when it’s not true.

My mother and my aunt shared with me the good times of the 30’s and 40’s.

This was the era of big bands, also known as the swing era. (music) Big band music traces back to early jazz music from New Orleans inspired by ragtime and blues. Other early jazz capitals included Chicago and Kansas City, but it was New York City that established jazz as a touchstone of American culture with Duke Allington, benny Goodman, Glen Miller, and Count Basie. My Uncle Harry Elias played in some of the Big Bands. My mom and dad won swing contests in their dating days. You will hear the passion in Carla when it comes to swing dancing.

That era was filled with good times, but that era also included the horrible sad times of WWII. This was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945….  It was a sunny Sunday morning when, on December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Air Force launched planes from 6 Japanese aircraft carriers North of Oahu, Hawaii. Their primary goal was to destroy the US Fleet which was anchored and vulnerable at Pearl Harbor. In my novel, you will experience the deep sorry of a loved one that never came home from Pearl Harbor.

Before we get into the chapter two, I’m going to highlight some main points made by my literary Reviewers:

Carla is an engaging and magical timepiece. A bittersweet romance.”

“This novel is a compelling story.A bedrock of wisdom about following one’s heart.”

“Reading Carla is a wonderful way to escape and trust in love and romance. Live Laugh Love.”

“Upon reading Carla, I learned to be true to myself,  and flow in the vibration of love.”

“I was left in tears and full of compassion.”

Carla is whimsical, playful, intriguing, and very entertaining. The 30’s and 40’s era is very present – American History.”

Carla is a story filled with passion, heartbreaks, lost love and found love, pain and suffering, joy and laughter.”
