    Mr. Lloyd Henry is the owner of Big Daddy’s BBQ. His delicious food and wholesome hospitality has spread through the city of Columbia. Lloyd and his wife, Fontella, co-own the establishment and provide more than just fantastic barbecue to the community. They’re known for giving employment to those in need of a second or even third chance. In addition to being a restaurant owner, Lloyd has been a local State Farm Insurance Agent for over 30 years! Fletch and Lloyd go deep on different styles and origins of barbecue while I plan my next lunch attack at Big Daddy’s!

    Nourish Café & Market has positively influenced our local community in so many ways. Many of their customers, including my family, have a story that goes deeper than just eating healthy food. Kalle Lemone, a pharmaceutical rep for nearly 9 years wanted to put her MBA and real life experience to work. It all started when Kalle met Chef Kimber Dean at a yoga session and tried one of her healthy chocolates. They met shortly after at a coffee shop and nourish was born! Their passion for healthy living and bettering the community shines through in their food and environment they’ve created. Their entire menu is free of gluten, soy, corn, refined sugar, preservatives and inflammatory oils.     Middle of the map is with Mr. Brandon Fick, Brandon has been blessed with the title of candy master at the ever popular Candy Factory. Brandon has his degree in horticulture and greenhouse management from Iowa State. After becoming bored with corn genetics postcollege Brandon took a dive into candy making. Before this podcast, Brandon took Fletch and I on a tour of the totally badass candy lab where it all goes down! Brandon is a long-time childhood friend of mine and we’ve recently reconnected and I’m so happy to have this dude back in my life! He’s been the General Manager of The Deuce, The Thirsty Turtle, and The Hitching Post since 2012. Fletch and I have put together our volleyball team and we talk about the upcoming season at the deuce! When Jason isn’t preparing delicious meals at home he’s at the bar making you smile.     We’re joined by Lars Van Zandt, a talented tattoo artist and co-founder of Century Tattoo. Lars has been perfecting his craft for over 15 years working at Iron Tiger Tattoo. Him and his friend Cody Finely recently opened the new shop in December of last year and the space they’ve created is incredible! The flow of this podcast was fascinating and to say the least, unpredictable. We discussed the benefits of micro-dosing LSD and psilocybin, Kim Kardashian, Genghis Khan, my time spent in Guantanamo Bay, Astro projections and more!     Middle of the Map welcomes Ben Hamrah to the podcast. Co-owner and chef at Beet Box restaurant. Beet Box focuses on Middle Eastern fast-casual food. Ben grew up in a Persian household eating this style of food and always loved it. He met Amanda Elliot, also co-owner and chef, who realized how applicable the cuisine is to farm-focused food after her trip to Lebanon 🇱🇧 in 2010. Ben has always been in the culinary world. His family has owned and operated Peach Tree catering for over two decades. When you head to beet box expect to see them having fun bringing new concepts and new recipes every day. Expect the unexpected, expand your pallet and as they say at Beet Box, “Eat It!”

    Middle of the Map is back and in a new location downtown Columbia, MO. Since moving, Fletch and I started a real estate group together and joined forces with eXp Realty. Our first guest in the new studio is Columbia Board of Realtors sitting president Mr. Chris Martin! I’ve grown up with Chris as a friend since middle school and cant say enough good things about this dude. Him, along with numerous others in our leadership, have been working diligently to keep agents and the public safe while navigating through business in these unprecedented times. He’s a true professional and we really enjoyed having him on. From being managed by Fletch at Campus Bar in college to becoming his president in real estate, we welcome Mr Chris Martin!

    Blake Stark joined us in studio, a truly hilarious individual with a smooth voice built for podcasting. Stark has been in the mortgage business for over 8 years and works at Magnolia Bank. Blake makes frequent appearances for the “Locked on Mizzou” podcast, hosted by his friend John Miller. We enjoyed a few Busch Lattes and got to cut up with a awesome friend. Hope you enjoy!

    The acclaimed “Man of Steel”, Emmett Russell came to hang out in the studio.  After moving to Columbia in 2009, Russell started a home improvement business obtaining work through Craigslist and any other way he could. Before that he tried college, dabbled in motorhome construction and welding jobs. Emmett has made a living working with his hands since he was 19. From the chair you sit in at your favorite coffee shop to the statuesque grandfather clock in Joe Rogans studio, you can bet it’s Russellbilt.

    Nickie Davis is the Executive Director at The District- Downtown Columbia, Missouri. She also works behind the scenes at True/False Film Festival each year. We chat about upcoming events in The District and she brings us our passports for restaurant week coming up Jan 20th. 
    Nickie was born and raised right here in Columbia, MO. She was the founder and owner of Muse Clothing and does so much to support our local venders. Her energy and positive aura filled the studio. We had a blast! Give it up for Ms. Nickie Davis.

    We chat about some amazing wineries, restaurants and places to visit in The republic of Georgia. Andrew has lived in many places and recently resided in one of my favorite cities, Amsterdam!     We are with Dr. Jerry Thornhill as he explains the principle behind hemodialysis, bringing a dialyzer into the studio. Dr. Thornhill has devoted his career to the study and practice of veterinary nephrology. He was the first to successfully complete hemodialysis on a companion animal in the mid western United States. Hundreds of thousands of similar life-saving dialysis treatments occur in the US every year. 
     
    He’s a Mizzou alumn, former professor at Purdue and the driving force behind the nephrology department at Veterinary Specialty Center near Chicago, IL. Jerry loves to read biographies of US presidents and has a collection of almost 500 volumes in his, at home, presidents library. Jerry also shares with us some life lessons and talks about his walks with ex president Harry Truman. Please welcome a modest man with a brilliant mind, Dr. Jerry Thornhill.

    Chris Cottle works for the Alzheimer’s Association as the Walk Manager for the Columbia, Macon and Kirksville walks. After his father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s, Chris quickly became involved volunteering for the organization “Walk To End Alzheimer’s”. The walk here in Columbia Mo is coming up October 20th at Cosmo Park. You can find more information at ALZ.org. Mr. Cottle reminds us of how many people are affected or know someone that is affected by this terrible disease. Middle Of The Map welcomes Mr. Chris Cottle.
