Ismael grew up in The Airport neighborhood of Modesto Ca. This area of town is known for drugs, poverty, and crime, all factors he faced when deciding to restart the fallen program. His goal was to give the kids in the community the same opportunities he had growing up. Ismael also wrote a book about The Flyers journey. I strongly suggest you pick that up(info on the show). During all her ups and downs she has earned income by singing in public and seeking donations. She has been singing on the streets of Modesto for quite a while now.
