    Gaytime

    Gaytime
Another collaboration with the bf, this podcast is a collection of songs ranging from camp to just downright gay! Some are new, some old, some are remixes of old trax...and then there's the odd closet track that we've resurected for your aural pleasure (and which, maybe or maybe not, ought to have remained hidden away!)

This is my last podcast for 2015, and apparently, it'd be remiss of me not to include at least one Christmas track. Well I should be so lucky, coz as in the nick of time, along came Kylie and Dannii with their yule-time disco ditty: a perfect opener for Nell'ee Maydit's Gaytime.

    See you in 2016!

    Enjoy Nx

    Funk'd up at FIVE-oh

    Funk'd up at FIVE-oh
One of my closest friends asked me to prepare a podcast for her birthday, something that would suit for a glam, red carpet event at the Opera House, with the Sydney Harbour serving as the backdrop.

So this is what I came up with: something a little funky, a little bit nu disco, with a does of camp (of course)thrown in for good measure.

Ange you looked stunning tonight (the Harbour and its bridge came a distant second. Happy birthday. Nx

The 90s According to Nell (Volume 2) [What About You & Miss A]

The 90s According to Nell (Volume 2) [What About You & Miss A]
The publishing of this podcast signals the end of a project that started almost 2 years ago and I had as much fun with this volume as I did with Volume 1 [Scattered Recollections]

And the memories evoked from this volume are just as vivid: the goosebumps I got the first time I heard "I Imagine" (and I still get 'em!); a Sunday only being complete after ending up at Annies Bar AND seeing the hilarious antics of Chelsea Bun, Tess Tickle, Trudi Valentine and Portia Turbo; the inimitable Lexie Bradfield at Dayshift (with her scotch & coke and off course, the odd vinyl record being hurled across the dance on occasion); the absolutely re-defining Ray of Light album - together with its alleged connection to a certain tranquilliser - and the luck I had being seeing Madonna do a promo of that album at the Roxy; and the excited mutter on the dance floor when the latest mixes from Junior, Hex, Thunderpuss 2000, Tony Moran and Victor Calderone were played.

    Enjoy. Nx

The 90s according to Nell (Volume 1) [Scattered Recollections]

The 90s according to Nell (Volume 1) [Scattered Recollections]
A dear friend of mine asked me quite a while ago to make a podcast of 90s music and provided a number of suggestions. Well, the idea grew (ok, it was 18 months ago!) and I have had an absolute ball pulling this together.

Not only was there something very special (for me, anyway) about the music in the 90s, but it was also an amazing time for me when great friendships that have spanned two decades first took seed - and when in 1991, I met the great love of my life (who is still with me today).

For me, many of the songs on this podcast bring back a flood of strong memories: individual songs that remind me clearly of one or two friends, a dance floor moment, a moment in time - but most of all, the 90s represent my growing up and coming out: the time when the Sydney Mardi Gras was Gay AND Lesbian and its parties - and its shows - were world renowned; of Pride and Hand in Hand; when the Midnight Shift dripped with sweat and DJs by the names of Goodyear, Taylor, Carly, Manley, Boladian, Kilby (and many others!) rocked gay Sydney; when drag queens were Titans; of green Mitsubishis; and when day-clubbing was defined by the Shift and Frisky set the pace for our "recovery".

Volume 1 contains some classic tracks from the early 90s and remixes by Wayne G, Xenomania, Almighty and Motiv8.

I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Dr Glen, this is for you.
