    Emotional Health

    Emotional Health
So you know you want a baby, maybe you've even been trying. But now as you look at that second line on the pregnancy test your heart is seized with fear, and then shame. For women there is a lot of expectations surrounding the role of motherhood and then a woman feels any ambivalence or I'm not quite sure if this is what I really wanted, then guilt can come in and have her second guess herself.

Getting the Swine Flu Vaccine While Pregnant

Getting the Swine Flu Vaccine While Pregnant
Pregnant women are among the first in line to receive the Swine Flu vaccine, when it becomes available, because not only does the flu -- any kind of flu -- usually hit pregnant women harder than other people, but this strain appears to be particularly nasty for moms-to-be. Pregnant women are more likely to end up in the hospital with this flu. Pregnant women are more likely to face complications associated with this flu that can lead to death.

    Third Trimester

    Third Trimester
Toward the end of your pregnancy your hormones want to loosen things up so the baby can pass through the birth canal more easily so that things can sort of move aside is how I think of it. And so yes hip pain is common, all joint pain is common and another pain that many women perceive or feel is pubic pain because we think of the pubic bone as one bone all the way across well it isn't really, there is cartilage in between it at the front and so that often loosens up a little bit and many women experience discomfort there.

    Second Trimester

    Second Trimester
Most people do feel a little bit better, they've sort of gotten past the morning sickness if they had that, they're not urinating quite as much, not getting up quite as much at night, people can see that you're pregnant, people love to see a pregnant woman and you just feel better. You can eat things that you normally would be able to eat, they're not going to upset your stomach, you're not really extremely heavy with baby yet, so you're still just as agile as you normally would be. So that's why many people refer to it as the honeymoon phase.

    First Trimester

    First Trimester
Oh baby, you're having a baby! You're at the beginning of a 40-week journey in which the spark of life begins in you and becomes your baby. It is awe-inspiring and thrilling. If you planned this little one, as Alissia -- who is now 10 weeks pregnant -- did, you've probably already started making changes in your life to give your little one the best possible start.

    C-Sections

    C-Sections
You've been planning your labor and delivery for months. You attended classes, you've read books, you've learned how to relax through pain but suddenly you're on your way to an operating room to have your baby surgically, what in the world happened? ''In the United States most cesarean sections are performed for labor abnormalities, mainly failure to progress in labor or for what is the term cephalopelvic disproportion.''

    Breastfeeding

    Breastfeeding
You wouldn't think it would be so difficult to decide how to feed your baby when there are just two options. But it is and everyone has an opinion. Let's find out about what a pediatrician has to say, "Well obviously breastfeeding is going to have some real significant advantages for moms, or for babies rather. We have to keep in mind that breast milk is a living, breathing product that contains hemogloblin and other things that help boost a baby's immune system and even boost their intelligence.

    All About Feeding

    All About Feeding
This week is one of the most important decisions that you'll make for your baby and one of the most stressful. What will you feed your little one when it arrives. We talk to a pediatrician, "Well parents basically can do one of two things after they have their baby, they can either breastfeed or they can bottle-feed." And we'll walk you through those options. We'll talk to moms who breastfed, "It's been one of the greatest experiences of my life." And bottle-fed, "My husband wasn't as on board with that and I'm like the day that you can breastfeed is the day that we'll breastfeed how does that sound?"
